[UPDATE] Do any of these lines that I am grinding get better?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Nothing outstanding about those Completionist here for the anniversary SCs.... There are some decent ships in there, but I'm not sure I'd recommend them for a Coop peasant. - USN snail BS: only Vermont is semi decent because of the heaviest broadside in the game. Not useful for coop though, and the rest are fit only for sado-masochists or completionists. - Italian tier 9 Lepanto was fun. Reminds me of playing Frederich the great, but with 50% more barrels and therefore, hits. Also good armor and smoke for the lols. Didnt bother playing the tier X, I dont enjoy BBs. - EU tier 9 and 10 are good and fun. But i have Småland so I never play them. - Dutch cruisers were an aquired taste, but I ended up enjoying them and especially their results in chat . Air-poop every 30s 4 times and usually at least one fire makes BB players detonate (not their ships)Positions like Cleveland to get in range of bow-tankers, but uses air-poop instead of radar. -
Thx for the info. Does the depth of the sub matter? I've not been able to hit them yet.
-
Using BB ASW or Dutch cruiser airstrike, so far they've not been able to land a single hit on a sub at -40 m or even -30. I doubledropped 2 NOCAP tier X subs yesterday fighting a friendly sub and they were both spotted and in the zone - not a single hit. Havnt bothered to read the instruction manual yet nor tried playing subs ofc
-
Even if you drop on top of the sub, they dont get hit below periscope depth anyway. So its the same as if they're on the surface. Or has RNG really hated me and it is in fact possible to hit a sub sitting at 30-40 m depth but just so vanishingly unlikely that it makes carrier detonations look like a common appearance?
-
Which tiers do you play against subs? I'd rather have CVs every game than sub every 10 aswell. Tier 8+10 if played well are basically unkillable and impossible to spot and ASW dont work against them. Anything but depth charges they are immune to simply by submerging at max, and if by some special miracle a DD can make it close enough to depth charge, they can either go max depth and evade anyway or they surface to shotgun. Did I mention some subs are as fast or faster under water than some dds?

Too much exaggeration when it comes to Submarines.

Bro my memory isn't that long or maybe I was one a break If WG really gave him a permaban, I imagine it's the only sort of promise WG is likely to keep! -

Me too. He still plays the game but sadly doesnt prowl the forums any longer :( -
Have you guys seen the new "Homing Torpedoes" behavior announced in WoWs DevBlog actually happening in game?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
1. They stop homing when they hit your ship. Is true enough it happens sooner if you go towards them Seriously>: have looked, such a thing does not happen. Actually: 2. The keep homing for at least as second despite DCP usage too. from my experience. -

Are we playing the same game? It was true on tier 6, but certainly not what I see on Tier 8 ranked. Subs are as fast as most DDs, can outspot them and suicide torp any DD that tries to rush it with charges. 1A. Homing torpedoes that KEEP HOMING despite using dcp for at least a second. How do you deal with that apart from keeping an island between yourself and the source? 1B. Subs enjoy special proximity spotting mechanics, can spot any smoked DD by simply diving under them an follow around without getting spotted or attacked themselves. Since as the DD you dont know where in a 4 km circle to drop depth carges, whats the counterplay? 2. True. -
Dodged some torps by - timing dcp usage - run away and make the torps run into a friendly CA I hide behind - turning in so only one torp could hit the bow never saw them stop homing at all.

News Release: Want to Win a Transformers Commander?
GulvkluderGuld replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
Are we talking about the mission seriesfor a Transformer commander? Really easy to complete. Picked Bumblebee. Will promptly dismiss it for a couple thousand commander XP. No interest in transformers (duh) . -

Will add my data once all crates are collected. (53 SCs) 1x ship (molotov) 1x 90 day premium 4x 14 day premium 10x 7 day premium 2x steel 1,5k 4x coal 15k 8x 1000 doubloons 1x 50k FXP 1x 100 dragon flags 2x 50 dragon flags 1x 25 dragon flags 7x 50 camos (including 50 type 59 200% xp) 11x 100 normal flags WOHOO this makes up for last years mediocre haul, and got a ship too! -
Jean Bart (its the only BB i enjoy). Republique is fairly entertaining due to fast repositioning and punchy guns. The grind is pretty rough though. Tier 9 especially is a shotgun. But since overmatch never gets old, probably Yamato for the occasional game. So Yamato.

Just name it Testing and forget calling it Ranked.
GulvkluderGuld replied to Logan_MountStuart's topic in General Discussion
Ranked used to be my reason to play the game because of competitive solo game mode with a decent incentive. With ranked rework the incentive to play is already questionable. If WG turns it into PST 2.0 with CVs, subs, Superships without any regard to balance then I'm out although I will be sad to leave. Random battles (stomps) have long been unplayable and CBs are now broken by double CV gameplay. -
Confirmed: Colbert is a destroyer

Will bring out my Asashio again! -
Thanks, and I'm sure if you bother with the news section it is there. I used to do that. My point relates to what happens in Port: there is shiny notifications on the armory stating some new stuff is there, but nothing at all on the campaign section. exactly
-
How do you get free tokens? went to Google, looked up the event. Oh. There is a campaign? Didn't realize. Just looked in armory and saw no way to obtain tokens without spending gold. Contrary to the armory, there were no notifications about a new campaign. Really sums up both the scummyness of WG and how little I pay attention to their events by now. And I used to grind for every event just a year or two ago.

White target indicator means you can hit it. Maybe you switched target from a DD recently (see link)? Or maybe it informs you the target is currently behind an island. Had a similar bug with my Asashio, which is caused by a delay of 1-2 seconds before the faulty text warning dissappears when you switch targets. Seems to have been added with subs to the game @Tuccy are you aware of this? -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

The baguettes are nice, Henri IV used to be one of my most played ships. It's quite a bit more resistant to take random citadels compared to SL. -

That was a really close game I still remember. Ate an early akatsuki torp and was mostly crippled for the whole game. You and the hero Musashi carried top and barely scraped together a win. Funny though - I was sure you played the Yugomo -
Alaska guns are damned trolly. So much in fact that I'm one of the few heathens who hate the ship and it's guns. Gimme Krohnstadt instead please! So: No surprise Congress dispersion is wonky too if it uses the same formula.

UI Bug or more of WG silently discouraging CV hunting?
GulvkluderGuld posted a topic in General Discussion
Had a surprise today while playing my Asashio. Tried to torp enemy Saipan. Target indicator said "impossible to hit target" while i had it selected. Wondered if it might be selecting Albermarle by mistake or some other wierd UI bug was in effect, so i used X to swich targets back and forth between them. Nope - same message no matter which ship I had selected. Didnt prevent my torps from hitting the Saipan though (note there is no "impossible to hit target warning" because I have it targeted by guns instead of torps). Putting on my tinfoil hat, have WG added a new UI feature to protect their favorite balanced class or is this just some wierd bug? -

GulvkluderGuld replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for running the testing I can confirm this now that I look out for it, there is a 1-2 sec delay before the message disappears and it would be consistent with the bug i posted. Did quick 1 sec swaps back and forth several times without the text moving.
