Some players obsession with stats. What's up with that?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Runner357's topic in General Discussion
Uh... I played 4920 random and 275 ranked battles so far but I have never seen that poor excuse. -
BB captains, what is in your 4th upgrade slot?

Why is there no vote for acceleration? :> -
My Shchors with DE starts fires on anything that looks at it. My Kutuzov with the same captain... eh... maybe 1 fire in 40 hits. My Kiev with 9% fire chance: 1 fire after 182 HE hits, second fire after 249 hits On the other hand, two days ago I shot some Yamato shells from my front turrets at a wiggling full-health Gearing 12 km away, and that Gearing turned into them in such a way that all 6 hit and devastated her.

Communication: This depends on the players completely. There are games with great communication, tactics talks etc., and after some got sunk there was still some friendly chat going on, congratulating the enemy for the great shot and cheering for the team. Then there are games, luckily the vast majority by far, with little talk but very pragmatic. Just to let people know where to go. Still, some don't read the chat or don't care. But most of the times, the general direction is good. And then we got a couple of games without any communication at all. People simply do not respond to questions or calls. And neither WG nor any game mechanic can change that. People need to learn the power of communication by themselves. Clans: One of the top priorities. Will come with one of the next updates SOON™. Competitive Team Battles surely were quite a good basis for this. Langley: I consider her very strong Although CV gameplay interface and controls need some improvements, Langley is a great CV to learn since your squad size is quite forgiving (but your hangar reserves are not). Have fun and learn the basics of manual drops and fighter strafes. USN CVs are not really that worth grinding past T6 but 4-6 are quite okay and you learn a lot. Once you got the plane handling right, focus on reading fleets and give tactical advice to your team. You got a bird's eye view on the map and you may notice trends and progresses that others might miss.

What happened to weeklies like "hunt them down", "fire at will", "high score", "best of the best" ?

Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Ferry_25's topic in Archive
They go after the weakest, or take out an enemy who is doing a mistake, because that ship may become a threat lateron. Arcade battles are no honor duel. I don't hold fire to forgive an enemy's mistake just to look for a stronger opponent. Instead I punish him for doing that mistake. And I get punished for any mistake I make, and that is quite a lot I assure you. Everytime I learn, and I hopefully don't do that mistake again. And I hope my enemy gets his lesson too, so he does not do it again if we meet again in the same team. This is pretty much why no one really understands your point and unwillingness to learn or to try different approaches. If I see I am forced to snipe, I snipe. If my team can push forward, I push forward. If my allied cruisers need a meatshield, I soak up damage. It is sometimes hard to see what needs to be done when and where. But doing something just for the sake of doing it will not bear fruit. Doing something because it needs to be done does. My priority in battle is to win. What's yours? -
Have not watched replays because I am in office. Every battleship relies heavily on RNG. But I can tell you Colorado guns are among or even arguably the most accurate ones of all BBs up to T7, and even later only surpassed by Iowa and Yamato imho.

This game broke my logitech mouse scroll/wheel ?! (It was dust/dirt/fluffy stuff/hairs)
deadly_if_swallowed replied to SkybuckFlying's question in Tech Corner
There are only 2 occations I use my mouse wheel in the game: 1. at the beginning of the game to ensure my camera is zoomed out as far as possible 2. in spectator mode to check landscape and map design (and sometimes ships) What else would you need it for? -
Battleship players: what is your problem? Why won't you tank?

You have not watched many of Flamu's vids or streams, nor have you played high tier games alongside players like Flamu, Crysantos, RNGsama, _FTD_, Sander93 etc, have you? If you had, you would quickly realise these players CAN wipe out most of an average enemy team and carry the game, AND they do not only take advantage of certain situations but they rather create these situations in the first place by controlling the enemy fleet movement, and thus often enable their teammates to perform well and safely. Honerable mention: Crysantos is a superb team coordinator whose instructions ensure victory even if he gets sunk early. So please, do take some advice and try different approaches on different situations. Become unpredictable. I started BBs first and tried to make use of my Kongo's speed and range back then. But today I think there is no greater joy than hammering Yamato shells from 8 km away. -
USS Missouri + KMS DDs + KMS Graf Spee preliminary stats (5.15 ST)
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Darth_Glorious's topic in Destroyers
"distributed in an interesting way", just like every other premium ship. Throw money at WG, get ship in return Not sure about the point of view from which that statement was given. Receiving money is always interesting for me. -
Why teamkilling is beautifull.
deadly_if_swallowed replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in General Discussion
Based on and in reference to the movie Kung Pow: Teamkilling is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for teamkilling. Like "badwrong" or "badong". Yes, teamkilling is badong. -
Yes, really. If you ever play Hiryu with T6 bombers, have fun against T9 AA. Even higher tier DDs eat those planes alive. This is the most prominent case, but there are a lot of issues with CVs. You play a DD and you got spotted by planes. So what? I play BBs quite aggressively (i.e. sail into caps together with DDs), and I am perma spotted by enemy DDs without a chance to return fire. That is something I chose to do. Just as you can choose to disengage, regroup with AA ships, and push again later.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video and pointing out that cruisers tend to kite away quite too often Awareness on battle progress and coming up with the right decision at the right time is very difficult and we all fail this sometimes, some more often than others. But aside from camping and sniping battleships, defensively kiting cruisers have become quite the nuisance to me when I actually place my battleships at point blank range in front of the enemy. Great play as always, and a great advice in general!

New Orleans and Chapayev have radar with decent detection range. Hipper has great hydro but much shorter range. Mogami has... uh... Yamato secondary turrets. The ranked/competitive meta, or at least their reputation, rated NO and Chapa above Hipper and Mogami due to radar. So I do see the point in this suggestion. Heal at T8 would be an Atago (competitive favourite) asset. Not that I would give up that German hydro for any other consumable (except radar maybe, but that will never happen). In fact, I do not think Hipper needs any buff at the moment. It is just the diversity of roles these ships can perform that made me vote yes.

I wouldn't give up the hydro on Hipper but more options are always nice

Rest in peace Cruisers, may you be remembered.
deadly_if_swallowed replied to BloodRose13's topic in Cruisers
Sure. Just as Yamato can one-shot a broadsiding Montana. But take Aoba, New Orleans, and Hipper for instance. Yes, you CAN take serious citadel damage from 16" guns. But you also have such great angles, good enough armor, and a slim profile that you can actually bounce such shells as well. Hell, Hipper can even bounce Yamato shells. But Kuma, Nürnberg, Kirov? Those ships are floating citadels and can reliably be penetrated by 130mm guns. -
A couple of Russian DDs would like to have a word with you. CVs should be reworked gameplaywise and maybe rebalanced between nations, but definitely not removed from the game. I cheer at every friendly CV player who manages 5+ squads simultaneously and gets rid of the enemy DD pests.

I see you have only played light cruisers so far. Those ships are, well, light. Fragile. Maybe heavy cruisers can change your mind. -
ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain

Just 5 more Russians... Yamato and Montana still got some work ahead. -
ARP Takao? nah, prepare for the ARP Nachi pain
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Jvd2000's topic in General Discussion
I think I only need 5-6 more Russian ships for Nachi. Should be done within this month. However, I will probably ditch the 200 torpedo hits mission. I like to get close and personal with Scharnhorst but 200 is a bit too much for this. Atago and Takao are viable options for me but I simply don't like torps in general. edit: Since Flamu posted another Kutuzov commentary just yesterday, and covered Chapayev (and Shchors?) a few days ago, I presume these ships will re-enter the stage. -
As usual, this is quite an exaggeration all perfectly true. Very fragile ship, but big guns to make other ships look just as fragile. I admit the 3x2 hull is pretty strong for its tier but I definitely enjoy 6x1 more for no apparent reason. It just feels so unique. Once you get used to the top hull, you will have fun with Aoba, which I only tried a couple of times on PT server. Actually, I should get back to IJN CAs and finish my Furutaka grind Aoba is a great ship and totally worth getting.
-
I am thinking of getting Montana today as I only need 20k xp (or just use some free-xp) and she is discounted at the moment. As my Iowa captain has full AA spec, and I second El2aZeR's point regarding CV being rare at T10, I will most probably use Steven Seagal on Monty (advanced Expert Marksman ftw) and set up a whole new build. As for the 3rd slot, I will always choose the reload mod. 26.5 seconds reload are great at medium ranges, and the traverse penalty is not that bad at all, even on Yamato's slow turrets.

I don't recall Ryujo ever having 6 squads. 3-1-2 is Hiryu's AS deck.
