Worse in a way that I don't even attempt finishing steps 2-5. But last week, it was possible, only very very hard and frustrating. This week it's just nuts.

Pearl harbor mission , so how to make things even more retarded
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Draconobilis's topic in General Discussion
Yup. Similar requirement as Solo Warrior. You need a just good enough team to cover your back, while being bad enough to be shot to pieces as points would be progressing too fast otherwise. Same applies for the enemy respectively. So I guess DD players (assuming that DD players actually get to this part of mission) will end up facing only 2 options: EITHER the DDs will rush forward to hunt the CV (and one will succeed eventually) but miss out on damage, OR DDs focus on dealing enough damage but miss on the CV as they are then taken out by long range artillery. Getting both will be super rare. At least you don't have to win the match. But seriously, who wants to play CV with this kind of mission around? -
this might actually be the first thread for me to do this

Tried the slot 2 secondary range mod on Montana. But even with her enhanced DP guns the only thing that might happen eventually is some random fire on a BB. If you want to troll DDs with USN secondaries, you will have to set up a full secondary build. Range alone will do no good. But USN secondaries are so weak, I would not consider it a viable build. Better focus on maximizing your strengths rather than trying to cover a weakness.

I do hope we get mental models on those ships. Too bad we did not get Maya though. But honestly, I don't think so. Cooperation has ended, adding new Arpeggio content, even to already existing ships, might cause unnecessary trouble. Not to mention all the resources devs could spend on modelling RN BBs - oops, did I accidentally delay release by another month?

Best way to get Free XP
deadly_if_swallowed replied to _interceptor_80's topic in General Discussion
Got Anshan on Cyber Weekend. +100% free xp confirmed She CAN farm you a lot of free xp, given you like Gnevny gameplay. I lost my edge and have to learn it again :/ -
The New Orleans? What are your views on it at present? As well as cruisers in general?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to DukeH4mm3r's topic in Cruisers
NO has a bit of a weird situation. She was underpowerd before so every BB focussed her for a free kill. Now she got buffed by armor remoddeling and the introduction of radar, but again, every BB is focusing her again because radar. I tried her a few times in random lately, did quite okay, did not feel like T8 though (unlike Hipper that is a multi-purpose ship without equals imho), or the premium T8 specialists. Apparently NO played her part in ranked thanks to radar but that should not be all there is to this ship. She was great before the AA reworks (when there were carriers around) 6 km deathtrap for any plane of any tier. -

Ship response to holding A or D
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Larky2k's topic in General Discussion
This. Ships take quite some time to respond to rudder commands so I comfortably set the rudder with Q and E instead of holding down the A or D key for minutes until Montana has completed the turn. Now I struggle with other games that use the standard WASD so I have to stick to Warships. gg WG wp -
Really, don't do that. There are "only" 55 ships in the entire game that have good stock setups: 13 tier X ships and 42 premiums (?)

sad Yamato is sad... 225k dmg 8 citadels, 4 of them on poor Neptune by a single salvo from front guns Close Quarters Expert by finishing Amagi with 155mm AP (hell, they do so much damage) only 2 kills total game lost :<

IJN Converted CV line, help me fill the gaps
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Affeks's topic in Aircraft Carriers
I guess Shinano is something to argue about... She does have a TX hull but was not intended to be a fleet carrier but a support carrier instead. I would like to see her in game nonetheless As for the T9, I guess we can come up with a reasonable design find a secret blueprint in some Russian archive. Since Akagi is a converted T8 Amagi hull, and Shinano a converted T10, maybe we can pull off some Amagi-Yamato hybrid hull (since T9 Izumo is pretty much a poor man's Yamato hull). Thinking of having a bulbous bow for speed efficiency and a strong deck armor as DB protection, but a rather slim profile in general, maybe a flush-deck design without island superstructure, just for teh lulz - Ryujo on steroids -
What is your Super Container Today!
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Capt_Wet_Pants's topic in General Discussion
Try it on Yamato, or another super large vessel Some of them have their textures split into sections and/or turned by 90° which can look great with certain patterns - or very, very awkward with others -
Change how radar and sonar works.
deadly_if_swallowed replied to DaWyrm's topic in General Discussion
As long as we see ships' silhouettes in smoke, and their bow/stern ends when hiding behind a rock, I am fine with your proposal -
Magazine detonation - remove it already
deadly_if_swallowed replied to BruceForce's topic in General Discussion
Whenever I get detonated I find it somewhat satisfying to get an award and flags (which I use on my TX ships exclusively) for doing nothing or less than I could have done. Sometimes, at really bad games the detonation award sticks out as the only award my team manages to "earn" edit: huh, I just noticed the necro... What's wrong with you people lately? xD -
One more thing, which is not really essential on Hosho but you should start practicing nonetheless, with Zuiho at the latest because you will need the skill with Ryujo and upwards: dropping torps on destroyers. At Tier 6 all cruisers get the Defensive Fire consumable. Even Nürnberg, a cruiser that was prone to be deleted by planes, now has a dedicated AA hull upgrade with 40mm Bofors clones (mid-range AA guns that were used on T8 Hipper/Eugen exclusively) so getting close to juicy prey is pretty hard, especially in early game. Hence, spotting and deleting destroyers will be the greater contribution to fleet success, rather than the growing damage number. But as I said, not essential with Hosho. Just a good practice
-
True. It is pretty strange nonetheless. Even with Concealment Expert your detection range is higher than your firing range. At this tier, only IJN BBs and a few cruisers can outrange you, yet your enemy can adjust and expect your coming as soon as you get spotted. Which is veeery early in the game.

What is the usual number of containers that you open on a day that you play?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
When I did not have premium: usually 2 per day during the week usually 3 on weekends Now I run a long-time premium account and one can get 3 containers so quickly it is not even funny. -
What is your Super Container Today!
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Capt_Wet_Pants's topic in General Discussion
Just hit the 100 containers mark last week. I think about 80 of them were TYL (is there a record about it?). Got 2 supercontainers: 1st supercontainer: 250 Witherer flags 2nd supercontainer: 250 Liquidator flags Yet the most useful container I got so far: regular one with 3000 free xp. -
Yup, she is basically a decently armored cruiser with bad concealment and a battleship icon. Her HE ammo is really, really strong against all kinds of targets. Use AP only against broadsiding cruisers. I think finding the optimal combat range is the greatest struggle. You need to find a balance between being close enough to hit despite the huge low-tier dispersion and being far away enough to maneuver and angle. And angling works pretty well thanks to the gun arcs. There is no need to always kite enemies by showing them your stern, you can point your bow at them as well and wiggle to fire a broadside.

Pls pro players, give me some advices.
deadly_if_swallowed replied to JAnCOz's topic in General Discussion
Not a pro but still answering because I completed the mission 2 weeks ago (?). Some Russian kills just came along. The last 5 were some real struggle, and eventually I got 4 after a lot of games, and like others I occasionally did some stupid stuff. In the last game in which I needed only 1 Russian ship, I sank Moskva, Donskoi, and Udaloi. Since then, after I got Nachi, I came across much more Russians, especially Moskva, and they were nice broadsiding targets for my Yamato guns. Was not even kill stealing, my team was actually running away from them so I literally had to take them out to save my mates. Long story short: Don't hunt them. They will come to you eventually. Just play and enjoy. edit: Even so, the mission requirement is bollocks, just to make that clear! Not going to defend it just because I completed it. It is possible, as you can see, but it is still utter bollocks. -
WG stealing good, old way!
deadly_if_swallowed replied to _Orbital_Supra_'s topic in General Discussion
Uh... I had a Minekaze as well before the split. Now the new Minekaze has her new captain, and the old captain was automatically assigned to the new T5 of the main line, Mutsuki, fully trained and specced. Fine by me. Just how did OP's captain end up in reserve? -
Well, first off: The Japanese carrier line is more challenging and more complex to use due to the degree of necessary micro management, yet more rewarding as soon as you get along with it. Compared to the American line, you generally trade squad strength for squad numbers. And while USN rely mostly on dive bombers as main source of damage, IJN has a stronger focus on torpedoes. Regarding Hosho itself: You will want to learn how to use the Alt key for manual torpedo drops and fighter strafes. Your fighters are no match for American squads so your only hope of shooting planes is by catching them with a barrage. On the other hand, you have 2 squads of torpedo bombers. You can either group them to drop 8 torpedoes into a ship's side, or cross-drop on them from two sides to deny any evasive maneuvers. You will learn that in time. Just try to use manual drops whenever you can by holding the Alt key. Also, unlike USS Langley, Hosho has fairly good concealment and decent speed to enable you to move with your fleet. You always want to keep your team's main battle group between you and the enemy. Never ever stay stationary to play airfield.

Just accept it. Your rudder shift is good enough to wiggle during reload. And just be glad you are no Gnevny that actually has to rely on such slow turning guns ;) You can get expert marksman once captain hits 17 or 18 points
