Do you also have the result screen? Would love to see the DDs' score

I wouldn't like that either. I'd rather like having the same something like the rest of the world at the same time with the same requirements. We are not asking for a warmed up copy-paste. We are asking for equality.

Bismarck - Secondaries VS Concealment
deadly_if_swallowed replied to xWarMachine's topic in Battleships
I have secondaries + concealment. It drops detection range to 12.6 km (?) so the secondaries can open fire almost immediately after getting spotted. It also allows you to pull back more easily if opposition grows too strong. -
I think Hipper and Eugen have a slight base xp modifier like Sims. I tend to get absurdly high scores with barely above average performance in both. Thanks for the reminder though. I tried that mission with a lot of ships lately but only got to 2.3k base xp with most of them. Last week i got 2.6k with Cleveland but I had not unlocked this mission at that point. Considering that Hipper and Eugen are my favourite ships it is a bit surprising to myself that I have not tried them anyway.

Is the "Hunt for Bismark" doable ?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to anonym_XGuN6pHmfiJ9's topic in General Discussion
Campaign itself: Yes, seems manageable. Campaign "with Honor": Not sure about that one - depends on my urge to get the Hood earlier or later. But probably not. -
Cleveland is an AA beast. If you check her secondary armament you will find 6x2 127mm dual purpose guns - the next ship in the line that has this is T9 Baltimore. These 127mm turrets can reach out to 7.2 km (AA range module and AFT) so you might want to take these two. Your AA dps will go nuts once you hit the "kill all planes" button (T). IFHE may be worth considering but I seem to have pretty bad luck with it. Maybe T6 is a bti too early so you might as well keep the fire change. Basically, Cleveland can benefit from almost all captain perks - they all have their strengths and drawbacks. I think she is one of the most versatile ships in terms of build/setup so it is hard to pin down or recommend a single "perfect" build.

Stage 5 sounds like Khaba or Des Moines to me Maybe even Montana but it's pretty hard with BBs. Will just see what happens.

I actually think she holds a good spot in T6 compared to her peers but we all know T6 MM and she sure suffers a lot from being put against T8 enemies. But the ship itself is fine. Yorck is a bit special as you have to rely on HE shells (that actually do damage and cause fires) but she is a very compact ship with good armor for a T7 cruiser. She is completely different from her CL predecessors though. Hipper is one of my overall favourite ships. A mulit-purpose cruiser, decent in just about everything. Her greatest (or only?) strength is having no particular weakness. Roon: Nürnberg on steroids. Good concealment. Has access to Hindenburg guns (unmodified: 10 seconds reload) Hindenburg: Jack of all trades, master of none. Great firestarter. Again, no particular strength but no severe weakness either. There are several threads about the line and they all end up quite controversial. I think the whole line is worth playing, others consider it utter garbage.

The "sod you" I'm buying Hood anyway thread
deadly_if_swallowed replied to BrettMRC's topic in General Discussion
Maybe, just maybe, I will buy the medium bundle that is still within the campaign time. Depends on my overall progress. I want the ship for my collection anyway and the campaign will probably trigger my urge to collect flags and badges Still, it doesn't mean I second WG's decision of releasing staggered bundles just one bit. If I progress well within the given time I can also wait for Hood to be discounted one day. -
WG Remove the staggered HMS HOOD Bundles

3000 base xp in a single battle at stage 1; 3500 base xp in a single battle at stage 2. And now we got even higher requirements? -
I had a blast this weekend. Surprisingly many wins, good punish opportunities, honorable/heroic achievements galore. I even broke my own xp record by scoring 3281 base xp with Des Moines. Sure, there were some potatoes as usual. But luckily most of them were on the red teams

Reliable site for stat signature generation
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Zen71_sniper's topic in Newcomers' Section
wowreplays.com also offers some signatures. They just show a few bare facts though, no rating of any sort. -
Weird. Most "video sent to WG"-potatoes usually flame in game and might pm you afterwards, but I rarely came across someone who actually used reports, let alone more than one. Maybe you found the only one of that group of special people who knows it all - flaming, accusing, AND reporting.

Moskva is one thing. But the introduction of the German turtleback has made many players aware of the ship sections. By now I tend to aim for the upper belt or superstructure on most enemy BBs because it is very reliable damage.
-
Definitely Scharnhorst. While Tirpitz, Bismarck, and Freddy are great contenders as well, I deem Scharnhorst the best thanks to her cruiser-like handling (allowing better dodging at close range) and T7 matchmaking. The others usually get into TX games and thus rarely get close enough without getting rekt by well-placed Montana's freedom shells or Yamato's lolpen.

Actually, Defensive Fire does not affect the longest range aura because it has the longest range, but it affects it (and the mid-range aura as well) because it usually has a caliber of 25mm or larger.
-
Was just about to ask the same I would, and I will buy some of them anyway, but I am at work at the moment.
-
How about giving her the aiming mod. 0 that is usually available for Katori, Yubari, and Iwaki?

What will you buy with your coins in the "Clash of the Elements" event "Gift Shop"?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I bought 3 Spood Beest upgrades. Not really interested in the rest as I get them in supercontainers quite frequently. Had 50 coins left and bought 10 Fire camos.- 80 replies

Clash of Elements - How many coins do I have?
deadly_if_swallowed replied to UrbanSlayer's topic in General Discussion
It seems your progress in this current round is 175 coins at the moment. But you already bought something in the gift shop so your balance is only 165. -
Neptune needs more armour
deadly_if_swallowed replied to EMILY_FINEBOTTOM's topic in General Discussion
Choosing radar on an RN cruiser changes that playstyle completely. You rarely sit and spam because islands are not always reliable. You turn a very static ship into a highly dynamic one. Don't forget that RN cruisers do not bleed speed during turns. Choosing radar over smoke seems to become a nice change in high tier meta as I see it more often lately. These players also admit it's a hell more difficult to play but also very rewarding because all the spotting they can do. I personally have not tried that yet though. Maybe this weekend. -
CoE event nearing its end, some thoughts.
deadly_if_swallowed replied to krautjaeger's topic in General Discussion
I appreciate having an event like this in general. But it pales in comparison to the Grand Naval Battles event we had last year. GNB was not Fire vs Water, it was All Players vs Time (disregarding the "surprise" at the end which was a bit ridiculous). We had daily missions, weekly missions, achievements for everyone (flags at certain stages), unlockable server-wide benefits (better xp bonus on the following weekend), and a MUCH larger gift shop to trade diamonds. Project R, and especially GNB, were such great events imho. At that time I really felt comfortable with WGEU, they sure had put some effort into these events. This time it looks like "Damn, we need an event. Everyone likes Pokemon. Let's do a Red vs Blue. And we need to promote those new modules, nobody seems to like them" - yeah, nice picture with the two tigers, great piece of art, but the event lacked love and dedication. Even I, who usually tries to understand and defend a lot of WGEU's decisions, slowly start suspecting there was a "Don't give them good rewards. NA will go mad if EU gets good rewards for once" involved in the process. -
DD: "CA/CL is not supporting me" CA/CL: "BB is not supporting me" BB: "DD is not spotting for me" CV: "wtf are you guys doing..." Rock-paper-scissors working as intended

Neptune needs more armour
deadly_if_swallowed replied to EMILY_FINEBOTTOM's topic in General Discussion
More armor usually means more weight, usually means less maneuverability (if WG would want a trade-off). And you'd probably need quite a lot of additional armor to reach certain thresholds and thus notice any change with it. I think Neptune is fine as she is right now. Small caliber shells still bounce if angled, and your nemesis calibers, 380-410mm, would pen you either way. 460mm often gets those annoying citadel overpens, especially at close range, driving the Yamato player nuts, including me
