    Minekaze - Torps & Tactics?

Minekaze no longer has type 92 torps now?

It's not always fun and games in my team boys. This time we saw it all, CC's firing at BB's ignoring the DD and eating their torps. BB's cowering behind island, sailing forward for a single shot, then absorbing several shots as they went into full reverse to retreat behind the island again. Anyway, yours truly did his best When I was finally sunk, "the team" had sunk 4 ships, 3 of those by me. Luckily nobody shouted "noob" at me from behind their island. ;-)

Played Hotspot (I really like that map) in my fully equipped Mutsuki. We were in the SE corner and the rest of the team in the NW. Before I could even suggest we all rush to one corner, somebody else beat me to it. That was a shocker, just the day before I was ridiculed for this. Anyway, we rushed the enemy in the SW corner. The problem is that when the DD is finally in torp launching position, your teammates have caught up and finish the target before your torps hit. This happened twice, but not to worry as we won the game without much effort. Let's hope the other teams Yamamoto was rediculed when he suggested a similar plan. Anyway, we won, of course. but most importantly, look at the teamwork: Compare our numbers to the other teams. Awesome isn't it? Anyway, I got lucky, when mopping up the rest of their fleet 2 torps hit one of their cruisers and I was in pursuit of a fleeing BB when the game ended.

Our team was lucky today as we had 3 Minekazes, fully equiped with long lance torps. The DD's were spread out, so each had its own theater. We ordered the CC's to protect us, but there must have been a miscommunication as we didn't see any incoming fire on enemy DD's. Caught in the crossfire, our crew had to retreat, suffering minor damage to the vessel. As you can see, we were able to inflict a bit of damage Victory didn't come as a complete surprise.

Another great performance by our crew, this time in the Minekaze, carrying the long lance torpedoes. The map was New Dawn, we started from the SW. Minekaze quickly moved towards the center to scout for the team. No enemies were detected and we veered North to try sneak in behind the enemy lines. We ran into a flotilla of 2 CC's, followed by a BB. We headed NW and under the cover of the islands there allowed the CC's to pass. We sneaked up on the BB when a CV was spotted. Since the CV was heading towards us, he became our priority target. He managed to doge our first spread, but we hit him twice with our second salvo. Planes detected us and the BB turned around to intercept. Bad move as our tubes were reloaded. We finished of the CV with a second spread and immediately swung around to fire the two last spreads on the BB. The BB was firing on us, but as he was far away, we were able to dodge his lead. By then the BB was trying to cut us off, but he sank as we hit him again. By now the air was swarming with planes and the second CV showed up. So we have no idea if the BB just continued sailing in a straight line, or if he changed course and it was just a lucky hit. We were dodging the attacking planes and at the same time trying to get a firing solution on the last CV. When we fired our last torpedo spread, we were surprised by a flight of torpedo bombers who managed to drop in immediately left to our broadside. There was no escaping these torps and the ship went down. Luckily even our last spread found it's target, placing a single hit on the last CV. He was eventually sunk by a CC who rescued our crew and officers. Another gallant effort!

Still cool number indeed. Today our crew boarded the Cleveland and was able to make a significant contribution to our team victory once more. The map was hotspot and our fleet was in the SE & NW corner, our Cleveland in the NW. Our captain suggested we rush the SW corner and sink all enemies there, then face the remainder. We immediately set out, sadly only followed by one fellow CC. The SE TF followed our suggestion with much more enthusiasm and they quickly engaged the enemy. The appearance of 2 cruisers, guns blazing, in their back, sent the enemies battle line in disarray and we were able to pick off their ships, keeping communications open to concentrate firepower on the weakest target. Sadly, or fellow CC was sunk, we believe it was a hit in his magazine that did him in. Meanwhile the part of the NW TF that had sailed east was running into trouble, but, having joined the SE TF we took the remainder of the enemies fleet in a vice and quickly mopped up. Pretty straightforward but once again team work saved the day. We took some damage as well

That's a lot of xp there Erbsensuppe, did you have a multiplier going on there? Anyway, due to the perfect weather, we decided to take the museum ship Albany for a cruise. All officers and enlisted men were proudly wearing their dress uniforms, but upon leaving the port we were nearly run over by a IJN BB waving a Polish flag (only in WOW's right?). And just as the light refreshments were brought out we sailed smack in the middle of a battle ! ! ! Well we were definitely not prepared for this, so we quickly tried to return to the port, when an enemy salvo landed right in our tray of canapé's (that's French for ... euh hors d'œuvre by the way). That enraged our captain to such an extent that he pushed us into battle and we were able to make a significant contribution to the success of the team, as you can see here: Who knew the old broad could still perform? We sunk a destroyer and assisted in the killing of two other DD's and a CA Sustained damage was negligible, with the canapé's absorbing most of it. And so ended our good weather cruise with stained dress uniforms and the paint on our beloved Albany somewhat smeared.

Our brave crew set out in a brand new Minekaze, our captain still in training. The camouflage paint wasn't even dry yet. We played north from the bottom up and Minekaze took to the west. We were able to sneak behind enemy lines unnoticed. However we were unable to spot any carriers. Finally we were able to sink the first carrier in the center. We didn't take any damage. We sunk the second carrier on the east side and were about to capture a base, when planes showed up out of nowhere and torped us. 2 CV's for a DD, not a bad trade. As you can see, we had an excellent team. But the enemy capped more bases, so it was a close call. Stats on the two sunken CV's Sunk by planes Once again, a party on board the museum ship Albany.

To honor the excellent performance of the Wakatakes crew, a small ceremony was held on board our museum ship Albany. Officers and enlisted men were attending in full dress uniform. Light refreshments were served and live music was played. Two enemy ships were killed, making this the best performing crew of the team. From the start, we sailed in the direction of the base, avoiding the torp trap in the west because 3 of our DD's were already heading over there. Several of the enemy ships entered the torp trap, but when we were finally in a position to fire torps, an allied ship was blocking our aim. Enemy showed up around the base, so we had to retreat. The enemy CA St.Louis was to eager in its pursuit and got isolated. His fire was very good and we suffered severe damage, but the CA St. Louis was destroyed in collaboration with another destroyer. We simply flooded his whole theater with torps and the crew was lucky that ours struck first. Emergency repairs were needed to get our DD moving again. We noticed an enemy BB moving in behind an island and set out an intercept course. The BB was able to evade our first spread, laying heavy fire on the Wakatake causing severe damage. The DD retreated behind an island for emergency repairs. With the BB still lingering around, our DD once again engaged with 2 torps hitting their target. Again the BB was pouring lead in our direction, but we managed to evade all their shots. With the crew working frantically to reload the tubes, we were able to finish the BB of with 2 torps, the other 2 torps still heading for their target. We lost contact with the enemy at that point and proceeded to capture the base. All enemy ships were destroyed before the base was taken.

    ALBANY code already expired?

If I decide to sell the ship, will the Harbor slot still be there? I know it' not polite to sell a gift, and I'm not planning to, because it's a beautiful museum ship and it's where we throw a party to honor exceptional performances.

    I have a tactic

This happened to me the last couple of days regularly. Calling the other playing a noob is no excuse to cower behind an island. When you outnumber the enemy, you unleash hell. When you don't, you retreat. And you tell your team to fall back. Was commanding an Omaha when that happened. I see BB's cowering behind an island frequently. When the enemy is exposed, they are unable to fire because they are conveniently cowering behind an island. If you don't recognize this pattern, that's because you're the coward, cowering behind an island. I know BB's are slow. But every time a see a BB moving towards an island, I just know he's going to take the scenic route. Don't. Support your CA & DD's. You've got the firepower, you can make a difference. You can make your team WIN ! ! !

    I have a tactic

This is what happened to me a couple of days now already. We locate an isolated BB or CA. There's 3 or 4 of us, in striking range, so I go in confident. The enemy targets only me, I don't see any incoming fire on his ships. I look around, the rest of my "team" is cowering behind islands. When I'm finally destroyed, they call me a noob and steal the kill. Our team loses.

Again the crew performed outstanding today. Playing two brothers from top down, we were able to sneak around on the East side, scouting a CA that was quickly dealt with by Task Force East. Scouted a BB that was also engaged by TF E, finished him of with 2 torps. We lost contact with the enemy at that point and we requested a spot plane, but radio communication must have been cut off, since we didn't get a reply. No spot plane was dispatched so we decided to bait the enemy by taking his home base. TF E team took the base on the east while we pushed our DD forward to the enemy home base. Capturing their home base lured out a CA and a BB. The escort was quickly disposed of by the TF E, who had caught up with us. We were able to destroy the BB with 3 torps. Meanwhile Task force West was all but destroyed, and our team was lagging in points. Our home base was occupied so we drove our DD up the channel. Our look out was sharp, spotting torps heading our way. We sunk the CA who was patrolling the channel with 2 torps, receiving severe damage to the engine. I decided to not use the repair team and wait it out. Upon reaching our home base, we destroyed another CA there by surprise, he didn't even return fire. Retook the home base. That secured victory for our team. This is a fine example of teamwork. Our DD scouted for TF E, consisting of 2 CA's and one BB. BB's don't have to be slow, they don't have to take the scenic round. They don't have to cower behind an island holding their n*ts while the team is getting slaughtered. BB's can push forward, support their team and eliminate the enemy CA's. Your CA's priorities should be to sink the enemies DD's. With your own DD concentrating on the enemy BB's and scouting for the Task Force. It's all about teamwork guys. So don't go sitting behind an island, refusing to support your team, calling them noobs when they get sunk. It's you who causes your team to loose.
