  1. Hoping for Takao, Yamato and / or Musashi here. Just watched the ARS Nova Cadenza movie these days... just wow. Ah, and of course, if submarines do make it into the game, or at least some adapted form of them: I-401 and her 2 sister ships, please. One thing that ticks me off a bit though: why are the "challenges" for the SEA players considerably simpler than what we have to accomplish? And why do they at least in some cases even get better rewards for... basically doing far less than we have to do? Just look at their current missions/rewards list for the ARP ships/commanders. Especially the commanders.

possible effect for the arp ships

Jealousy be damned. For those who have not enabled Port Yokosuka both my suggestions as well as those from Spuggy could be used. The ARP ships (which are probably still named as such even for those who prefer not to use Yokosuka) could be viewed as variants of their base ship classes. While the visual effects would remain only visible for those that have Yokosuka turned on, the gameplay effects could be the same: call it a "special armor version" (example, even though this is sci-fi yet again: think ablative armor from the U.S.S. Defiant on Star Trek: Deep Space 9) that pretty much protects the ship from magazine detonations, fires, floodings and component damage/destruction - but once this "armor" is cracked open the ship takes increased (INCREASED, for balance reasons) damaged from fires, floodings and component damage as well as becomes more likely to receive a magazine hit. Of course, a good player can take more advantage of the "armored" hitpoints and be very difficult to destroy - but then again, not much difference to as it is now, skill plays a decisive factor here, as always, and a little bit of luck. I really hate all those nay-sayers who always rant and rave against pretty much anything that is different from the norm. And don't even think about playing the "realism" card - many "regular" ships in the game either never made it off the drawing board or had some of their characteristics adjusted to better "fit" into the game (Yamato firing range, Cleveland AA power, several weapon characteristics, just to name three out of MANY examples).

possible effect for the arp ships

Well, one option would be to actually implement a "klein field" by not only adding said graphical effect, but also allocate a certain hitpoint value to it. This could be balanced by reducing the "normal" hitpoints on ARP ships so that the total still equals the value of their "normal" counterparts. Example: Kongo has (don't know the exact value) 54000 hp. A modified ARP Kongo-class could come with 20000 normal hp and "before" that 34000 klein field hitpoints. As long as the field holds up any hits are deducted from the field hp and a proper graphic effect for the impact is shown; once it "collapses" (damage exceeding the field's hp) the "normal" hp would start to drop. To balance the effect further the field could protect the ship's structure from magazine detonations and damage/destruction of any components - but said components would, in return, take more damage/ be easier to destroy than normal once the field is gone. Repair system could be altered to restore klein field hp as long as it's still up and restore hull hp like normal once the field is down. It would add more diversity to the ARP ships compared to their normal counterparts, make them more threatening as long as their klein fields are holding - and of course, give you a feeling of sweet revenge when you manage to get past said field. EDIT: it would also emulate the "feeling" of the anime show more, as those ships are nearly invulnerable with their "shields" up - but sink pretty fast once they are exposed.
  4. Title says it, after today's patch I noticed a few new sounds, the new graphic effect emulating corrosive torpedoes from the show and, most pleasantly, my ARP Haruna actually sounds like Haruna now. Thanks! Keep it up!

Thanks Wargaming! For the new Arpeggio details :-)

No, sorry, Kongo still comes with Iona's voice. Haven't checked Hiei so far as I want to wait until I hopefully have managed to get the 16 point commander version.

    Massively Upset (ARP Missions)

Maybe they'll add them someday in the premium shop?

    Massively Upset (ARP Missions)

Considering how long those two challenges were up now it seems a bit nitpicky to me to actually complain about a handful of hours back and forth, don't you think? I can see your point here though.

    Massively Upset (ARP Missions)

So far, all challenges and events ended around 5 - 6 am on the announced day (unless no other ending conditions are specified). I don't recall if they announced this in particular for the ARP missions, but it is consistent with previous end times. Sorry pal. Personally, I failed hard at the Myoko challenge, but then again I don't like her that much that I had to have her. I'm glad I got Kongo and am now looking forward to the arrival of Kirishima, Iona and Haruna.

New ARP ship event up in Asia

Well, it seems Wargaming plans to add the correct voices over time.... we'll see, soon enough I hope. In the meantime: enjoy the intro to Arpeggio of Blue Steel ARS NOVA, if you aren't familiar with it yet or just like to see and hear it, like I do :-)

    Where are the ARP Missions?

The missions ended this morning as was planned. Let's see when we get the next set here.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel - more ships planned?

Thanks for sharing. I'm also excited that we have news from asia regarding the next round of ARP in World of Warships. Kirishima! Iona! More effects! And a hint at Haruna and more ARP related improvements! EDIT: On a side note, playing with Kongou the other night - I heard a phrase in japanese after I took some damage that clearly included the mentioning of a Klein Field. So while it isn't visually shown, it's mentioned somehow. Though i don't know what is said, as I don't speak japanese.
  12. Greetings! After finishing the Kongo Challenge and now failing at the Myoko Challenge (300 fires? wtf?) I recently watched most of the Arpeggio of Blue Steel series. In an odd way I do like it, and I came across a World of Warships commercial at the end of one episode - which, for a brief moment, included a list of ARP ships in in-game graphic (port view). It seems there are more of those ships on the horizon, so my question is this: when will we see them? Will we ever see them? Will they get a more fitting voice recording (as in, maybe the original voices reprising their roles for Warships?) Among the ships in this list, I saw Haruna and Takao... and while Haruna would be another variant of the Kongo class, Takao should be rather interesting to have. Also I'd like to inquire about one other... I think it would be both worth an epic challenge and look cool if you added a chance to get Musashi. Any chances on that? And to all sceptical people out there: 1.) A challenge for Musashi should be for Tier 8 ships or higher, as this is the normal area of MM that we get to see a Yamato-class vessel anyway. So no (total) noobs riding around at Tier X when that challenge would be completed. 2.) Haruna could be created as a slight variant to Kongo, not only in appearance, but in stats too, somehow reflecting her personailty from the show maybe. Think Kamikaze R compared to Minekaze, for example. similar, yet slightly different. Kongou could be slightly altered in this manner too, to create a little more diversity. 2.) Russian cruisers are close, German Battleships and the start of a Royal Navy tree are in the works, as far as I know. So I don't wanna read any party-poopers here demanding their precious "realistic" tech trees. 3.) Don't make yourself look like a fool by looking down on the ARP ships as "not fitting" in Warships due to their colorful appearance and background. I could list a ton of facts that make Warships unrealistic as a whole, so don't try to play that card. Plus you only see their modified Looks if you have Port Yokosuka turned on, if I'm not mistaken, so there ya go. Last but not least, here's a wild one: how about the idea of including Iona I-401 in the game? Now, to avoid the "WG won't add submarines" reply, I thought about I-401 in her "ARS NOVA" mode - those of you who have seen the show and/or can do google know what I mean. It would present the opportunity to experiment with forward and aft limited-arc torpedo tubes (fast, powerful but difficult to use as you have to turn most of the ship around to fire) without the need to create a full submarine. And for those that say I-401 is still mostly a submarine, even in ARS NOVA mode.... well, the battleships and cruisers in Arpeggio of Blue Steel are basically also capable of submerging, and so far I haven't seen Kongo or Myoko in-game doing that :-).

New ARP ship event up in Asia

If I read the news correctly, you get a "complete" Kirishima and in ADDITION Iona as an extra commander. I like it! Also the new torpedo effects are much appreciated. And it is also hinted that more ARP specific effects, voices and ships are on the way. This excites me greatly, even more than the annoucement of the new russian cruiser line. That Trailer is also quite nice... indicating that Haruna might be next after this! YAY!

Arpeggio of Blue Steel - more ships planned?

Let's hope for the best here. I have to agree though, modelling ARS NOVA I-401 would be quite the project.... but then again, Wargaming has occasionally produced ships that aren't re-skins of existing models. Mikhail Kutuzov and Imperator Nikolai spring to mind here, for example. Wargaming! What's your opinion on this? Think of the prospect of creating ARS NOVA I-401 - both for the design challenge and as a testbed for new weapon angles and applications... as I said, fixed, limited arc torpedo tubes for example. I'm not asking for any promises or confirmations or denials or anything, just a personal opinion if you guys would find the idea at least interesting. Because, that's all it is for now, an idea. And as I said already regarding more ARP ships in general, I hope we will get some of them, particularly Haruna and Takao for me. Maybe sometime after the current ARP challenge expires? Edit: I know that right now the russian cruiser line is the next big thing. I don't expect to see a new big challenge for anything up until after the dust has settled from the cruiser release. Just saying.

    BAD and CHEATING PLAYERS

.... Tier 2 battle, random. I was in my Umikaze, moving into the "dd alley" as I call it in the western area of Big Race. Next to me and only slightly ahead of me was another Umikaze. since I had the occasional misfire of a Torpedo, hitting or endangering allies, I have become very cautious, at least most of the time. The other guy wasn't that observant. I closed the gap between us and turned into his direction, now in a spot in which one can and must see an ally when one is in torpedo aiming view. I fire my salvo, no problems here. He was now slightly behind me... and fires too. 1 Torp hits me, taking half my hp. And then HE gets me mad at ME for driving into his torps... when he just launched them as I was already in front of him. So I chase him, hoping I can take him down... as I foresaw more trouble with this guy. I wasn't able to stop him, as the enemy team sunk me. But I witnessed how he went on to damage another ally and sunk 2 allies before he finally is destroyed. Yes, this one guy damaged 2 of our team and destroyed 2 others, all with his torps, always! firing them whenever he felt like it REGARDLESS of his surroundings. In fact he was the one player in the entire match that caused the most damage... to our team. He really did more to us than the best enemy in that match. And he would always complain about everyone driving into his torps, calling us noobs and throwing all kinds of insults, all caps included. He was the first guy I ever blacklisted.

Why the #%$^& were my captain skills reset?

Troll or dangerously stupid. Troll: go away. Stupid: learn to read patch notes damn it.
  17. That would pretty much sum up at least half of the content of almost ANY forum on the web. However I can at least understand the OP's point and why he brings this here, even though I don't agree with him.

New patch, where is the ARP Myoko challenge?

Ok, now that explains it all. Carry on! Also, I believe we are basically done here since the problem at hand has been fixed. Case closed! Edit: Have a nice weekend, everyone.
  19. Noone "forces" you to invest into anything, the only real mandatory skill no DD captain should ever leave out is Situational Awareness. Apart from that, it's free choice, though some choices are a bit more useful than others, of course. Me, I simply left out the faster reload skill after the new patch. Maybe I'll pick it up again MUCH later when I someday max level out my captain. I think the idea here is not only to make Last Stand available sooner, but also to encourage some more variety in skill selection, as the skillset you should pick up greatly depends on your preferences, your ship of choice and most of all your playstyle. The more skills you want active, the more you need to play to advance your captain. By the way, just to clear this up, what's the max level a captain can reach? I heard once it's 19. That still accurate?

    About fail divisions

Well, there are a few not-so-great cases. But overall 1 tier difference ain't a big deal. Besides, this could be fixed by maybe changing MM to not pair such divisions against the highest possible enemies, but a solid compromise. Say a Division boasts 1 tier 5 and 1 tier 4 ship, MM could assign them to a tier 4 to tier 6 battle. And while we're at it: why does my Imperator Nikolai seem to be paired into games tier 4 - 6 more often than not? What bright egg had THAT wonderful idea?
  21. Varian_Dorn

    About fail divisions

Make that a limit of +- 1 tier, at least for random battles. As for Coop, since all ships are mirrored, anything goes and thats fine. Never played ranked or tried the new teamplay, so I can't comment on those.

New patch, where is the ARP Myoko challenge?

"Dear Wargaming Team, would you be kind enough to maybe, if your time allows it, check for what might be an error, please, kind sirs and madams?" Does that sound better to you? 'Cause ya know, we all totally stay calm and nice and friendly when we are, after a patch, suddenly confronted with any and all indication of weeks of progress on a challenge being GONE. Yeah right, just because you say so. Now, would you, dear sir or madam or whatever, please be kind enough to remove your head from WGs butt? And remind yourself of your "ask for assistance in a non-nasty way" each and every time something wrong comes your way, for the rest of your life, no matter how angry you might get. If you manage to do that, THEN you can come in here high and mighty. We'll talk again in about.... let's say 40 years. Remember, ALWAYS be nice. Yeah right. P.S.: On a less aggressive and even less sarcastic note: having seen much in the world of gaming in general over the years, it is not uncommon, at least for me, to expect the worst when something goes wrong in a game. Things with Wargaming might be different, and I'm actually quite happy with their efforts so far, but you never know. Bottom line: if all is nice and happy for and with you, that is fine. Just don't expect everyone to trust in god and/or wargaming, always and forever, no matter what happens.

New patch, where is the ARP Myoko challenge?

... and if you would have just kept your mouth shut on this one, we'd all have been better off. I don't think that I have to tell you that most of the time when things like this happen, it usually means at least disappointment for the players. Plus: how were we supposed to know that this was only a minor issue? Guess we don't have YOUR awesome know-it-all crystal ball to look into, well sorry about that! So, next time, please, instead of coming into already resolved situations with your snarky "I-told-you-so" attitude - even though you clearly didn't and now that it IS resolved berate us over it - just move along, ok? I'm usually not big on launching big complaints against gaming companies either, but the prospect of losing all progress in a rather.... lengthy (read: obnoxious and drawn-out) challenge can be frustrating, to say the least.
