Good sub players, how have you learned to counter subs
Varian_Dorn replied to Captain_Lootbox's topic in General Discussion
The one thing I detest the most is players who actively work against their own team by chosing to suicide or go afk just because they dont like how the battle goes / dont like a certain class. Newsflash: that kind of behavior stopped being acceptable once you started going to kindergarden. What are you, 3 years old? Grow the f up. You either play or you dont at all. Newsflash #2: Good luck with the T6 subs, at that tier most ASW has less range than subs do with ping and torps. At T6 its easier for the SUB to move about and do their thing. If you are so hell-bent on playing without subs you cant go higher than T4. If anything at T10 subs have a high chance of being quickly destroyed if discovered. But then again, I dont expect the average anti-sub-troll to actually know what they are talking and or hating about.- 108 replies

Good sub players, how have you learned to counter subs
Varian_Dorn replied to Captain_Lootbox's topic in General Discussion
I always like to think of subs like japanese torpedo destroyers. A well played torpedo dd can be very hard to find - and subs have the added bonus of actually vanishing completely for a short time. So... basically you have to keep your eyes peeled and check if the sub has been detected at all and if not look for potential points of attack. Its somewhat easy to locate them if they use their ping - if they dont all you can roughly go on is the direction and angle of approaching torpedoes. Most subs struggle once they have been detected to evade further detection since they are rather slow, especially under water. Also they cant take many hits and damage tends to reveal their position as well. A very important part is that lone wolfs have a hard time fighting a sub. So the most efficient counter is that once you have a rough idea where the sub is to concentrate ASW of multiple ships on the location, hopefully destroying the sub or at least driving it away with some serious dents in its hull. -

I-56 Japanese submarine is eye wateringly bad and makes no sense.
Varian_Dorn replied to Corpsetaker's topic in General Discussion
It seems to me our dear Corpsetaker is nothing more than a thick-headed troll. And that is, to me, true even IF you believe his whole story with that "friend". By his own admittance he doesn´t play World of Warships anymore. By his stats he only has played little, which makes his own experience limited at best. He blatantly ignores stats he himself posted. He´s not very good at arguements and or discussions. This guy needs a timeout. As for the vessel in question in this topic: I like the I-56 very much as it basically plays, for me, like a torp dd with a "poof I´m invisible" feature. The torpedo reload has no equal on tier 8 and I actually prefer to use the unguided torpedoes as it really is hard to get anything done if you reveal your approximate position by using pings. While you can somewhat safely ping at t6 due to limited ASW ranges it gets already more challenging at t8; at t10 once you fire off a ping you can almost bet that moments later 1 - 3 waves of ASW planes come calling. Let me be a bit more specific here: for the way I PERSONALLY like to play I-56 is very well suited. Short reload, good torp range, lots of hitpoints. The challenge is to stay undetected or at least unpredictable. Btw I also like to fire early "guess shots" as soon as I am getting into range of target areas in which I expect enemy movement; many players don´t expect torpedoes coming their way right after the match started so I have been able to get a few surprise hits in. I-56 is not your average "standard" submarine, reference for those in my mind being the german subs. If you look at her key features and think "yeah, I can work with this" then its a good fit though. -

Realism. Whenever I read this word in regards to World of Warships I, at first, start to laugh. If it is brought up repeatedly however I start to wonder if smacking the heads against a wall of those people who use the word might help. Why, why, why is "realism" always used as an arguement when its about this or that stat that you don´t like? Have you EVER actually taken a look at this GAME? Do you really think "Aw yeah, this is mighty realistic, apart from those 2 or 3 numbers I decided to be slightly mad about"? - Crewless ships - Damage that repairs itself in seconds at the press of a button - Movement and actions more akin to an R/C model than a real vessel - Vessel remains practically fully operational despite countless strikes up until the last "hitpoint" is spent when the ship immediately "decides" to explode and sink - Ship features massively changed or even removed, compared to RL counterparts, to fit them into the game; this goes all across the board here And so on... so please, for the love of FU**, stop even thinking about "realism" here. If you want fu**ing realism go sign up with the actual bloody Navy and do some time. -
If any hybrid sub is on the horizon they probably will go for the one that existed, the I-400 class - which in turn also would open up I-401 event sub for a possible new round of ARP colab. EDIT: I´m slow.

Also keep in mind that military service is regarded and valued differently in the US. Thanks for getting me up to speed. A ship and a flag... well. At least something. Would be nice if this would be available in the EU as well, but I can see the problem with verification here. On the chance of people running around claiming this bonus when they don´t have earned it - by having actually served - I´d rather not have the option at all - good call WG.

I thank you for your reply. Guess this one just struck me a bit more since this new vessel does interest me. May you have a pleasant day.

The what now? Sorry, what is the Warships Salute?

Only read Page 1 of this thread. This little information sums it up for me: a loud minority tries to force their will onto both the company and the majority of players. Just who do you loud cryhards think you are? For the record: the fight is OVER. All that matters now is active players and purchases. Now, at the risk of repeating myself: if you guys are so pissed, why bother playing at all? If you have stopped playing, why come here and still make a stink? If I´d be as annoyed as you claim you all are I sure wouldn´t play or go on the forum every damn day. And if you keep playing... well, then its basically settled. Your protests are meaningless, especially when they lack constructive ideas; most of you though just wander around spouting hate. Is it really this game that irks you this much? Or maybe subs are just an excuse for some to vent their RL anger here? Regardless though. WG can choose which information they share and which they keep. Many companies keep certain information to themselves, and with good reason - we are the customers, not their board of directors, they don´t have to answer to us. All we can do is decide if we wanna stay or move on. So, one last time: if you stopped playing, how about moving on with your life? I know I would. And if you still play how about shutting the f*** up, everything has been said, by now some of you are just like some drunk regulars at a pub, buying little 8if anything at all) but mouthing off to everyone about everything you think is shi**y in the very pub you frequent every damn night. Only difference is that the pub kicks you out at some point. Looking at some of you, the equivalent for your accounts here probably would be nice too, but sadly you rarely get kicked out of a forum simply for being annoying. One of the reasons why I´m still allowed to post stuff here, btw.

Habe mich auch schon gefragt ob WG da mal das Forum erweitert. Ein separater U-Boot-Bereich wäre hilfreich.

Will you spend the Submarine tokens on actually getting the subs?
Varian_Dorn replied to undutchable80's topic in General Discussion
You got a 10p commander and you can sell the sub for credits once early access is over. Thats a win any way you look at it. -

The T6 comes with a 6 point captain, the T8 with a 10 point captain. Personally I already got both german subs, working on the american ones now - if only for the latter to give me a head start en route to the Balao. Every T10 means extra good stuff on Christmas event. I´m also really glad to see that, regardless if you like subs or not, the current early access offers something for everybody. Enjoy your prizes! -
New SUB intro is misleading, doesn't show the true sub gameplay.
Varian_Dorn replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
I am well aware that IN REALITY this was a thing; I think you misunderstood my posting. My response was about things shown in the video vs things happening in the game. -

Varian_Dorn replied to ARE_YOU_HUMAN's topic in General Discussion
1.) Didn´t bother with the vids. 2.) The new sub intro is about as accurate as the previous ones were - you know, the one with the TEN CARRIERS attacking Yamato which fires its main guns for AA defense. You guys are sooo unfunny its practically sleep-inducing. EDIT: @YabbaCoe Requesting either a lock on this quite pointless thread or, in the interest of free expression, at least it being moved to off-topic. -
Des Moines class is still very capable, it has aged gracefully. Powerful guns, good AA, radar and solid concealment. A well-played Des Moines class is still a serious threat. I´m not that big into gunship cruisers, but this class hits all the right buttons. It also speaks for the Des Moines that the Annapolis is basically just an upgraded Des Moines. So yeah, Des Moines class still got it.

Wargaming there are companies out there who acknowledge failures.
Varian_Dorn replied to Corpsetaker's topic in General Discussion
I´m not denying them. I merely see no need to throw toddler-grade temper tantrums about them, for MONTHS no less. Sometimes I wonder if you and the others who keep going on about this apparently don´t have any other issues in their life than this - or if you guys made a fetish out of this by now. But this is beside the point for this topic. Shall we move on on topic, at least for this thread? -

Google has a well documented history of making a big show for new projects, having both developers and customers invest in them, and then scrapping them, sometimes within a year or less. Googles boss made a big show (online no less) about praising the developers behind Stadia... practically a day before 150 of them were tossed out the door. Google made promises that Stadia won´t go away, the latest of such was posted on July 29th. And now, exactly 2 months later, they announce they´re shutting the damn thing down in January... which means they potentially lured in a few more new customers during these 2 months only to screw them and the rest of their customer base over completely. So, NO, WG should definitely not learn from Google. As for you: Leaving out major parts of the context to make a point is stupid in itself. Denying this fact even more so. But let me get you up to speed: -
From what I can see there the two remaining tiles will become available to unlock once the timer is up. Once you have all tiles you can enter the code they form and get stuff. The button underneath will also become available once the last tile is cleared.

Was there 30% OFF Personal celebratory annual coupon this year (last year it was on 19.09.2021. and year before last on 17.09.2020.) ?
Varian_Dorn replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I would be highly interested in this as well. 30% would be nice, I´d surely cash this in if it would be available this year. -

Note to self: don´t go on the forum while stressed and tired. My bad, sorry. -
.... ok, mein Fehler. Danke.

I remember one was available ahead of time, through a mission. So thats the one I guess. Congrats!
