    Gunboat: US or RU line?

    I play both lines, as for USN: they get better torps and very good detectability, but you'll need to get close to brawl with other dd or you'll just miss. IMO not really a dd hunter, but can do amazing damage to bigger ships when popping smoke and shelling them with HE. RU line has amazing guns, you'll be able to eat DD and CA alive, but the major drawback is that it has a huge detectability. So you'll be manoeuvering a lot while shooting, hoping not to get hit.

    Torp Planes drop cheats

    As for islands: I drop them close to islands as well and sometimes they hit water, sometimes they don't. All depends on how close to island you drop: no problem here. As for border: don't hug border and your engines won't shut down. If you think border should make you safe from carriers you're doing it wrong.

    Unbalanced for me would be starting at around 10%. As for my detonation ratio: my stats are open for everyone to see. Then why all the fuzz about it? What is so annoying about this event that happens in 1 % of your games that it needs to go? And this is not an acusation so I will not withdraw the statement. BB secondary vs DD and CA: this decreases playbility for BB, Aiming mod torps: this improves playability for DD, Smoke: agreed, Escort: agreed, Submarines: we kinda already have those at high tiers ( IGN tier IX and X), except they have even more torps than a DD OK, but I still don't see what detonation has to do with playability, it is such a rare event? Detonation can happen at full health or when you are at 20% health, that's the definition of a detonation. And angling should generally work, but sometimes RNGezus decides otherwise..
  4. BB yes, you won't evade all torps, even when moving a lot: but is that terrible game design? CA they can evade some volleys by moving and turning a lot.

    Yes it is annoying if you get detonated by the first HE shell that hits you in a game, been there done that got the T shirt. But the very few times you detonate yourself, don't outweigh the the fun you have in detonating others. And tbh, there are multiple things that annoy/frustrate me way more than detonation. So really, just live with those few horrible moments and enjoy the other matches ( which are far more numerous ).

    Nope, even one tier is a huge difference for a cv: - amount of planes, - durability of planes, - speed of planes, And then how would you balance the CV into the rest of the ships in game: cause ( eg. ) a Lexington facing Iowa or Izumo is pretty mutch done for AA wise, while an Essex has hardly any issues ( with landing decent hits) on those. They just need to make carrier gamepay more fun ( dunno what else to do, cause I really enjoy mine ) or just scale down to Essex: no issues getting games in those...

    And yet OP has a point: in ranked battles having an extra ( capable ) DD over your opponents is a huge bonus. Because a good ( IJN ) DD will NEVER be spotted by non DD ( with exception of CV, but people don't play those so ... ). So why not mirror the amount of DD in ranked? Tier 6 and 7 are pretty matched anyways, so no need to exactly match the tiers, but just match their amount.

    Bogue air groups setup?

    Prefer stock setup if I want to make xp, cause you need TB for killing ships and I prefer having a fighter as well + this gives me some reserve flights. If I want to annoy other cv players I go 2fighters and ignore my DB ( kinda )

    Essex upgrades

    I'm a bit stuck for my last upgrade on Essex: Air Groups modification 3: +15% survivability to attack aircraft : looks good, but does it really help with those pesky high tier AA? Flight Control Modification 2: + 5% speed to all aircraft: speed is nice, more runs in the end? What are your thoughts on this?

    Torps apppearing too late

    Agree with a buff in range ( maybe ), but this at least gives a nice 'unique' ability to the KM CA. As for giving it in combination with defensive fire; no. You'll need to make choices, giving both to a CA is a bit too much of an 'I Win button'. If you feel that current meta is too DD centered, gofor Hydroacoustics, if not get Defensive AA.

    This really, no point in bringing a CA if you are facing 4 DD. You can't spot them ( cause 75% are IJN DD that just keep spamming invisi torps the entire game ) and if your own DD squad is fail... So maybe, can we limit the amount of DD to 2 per teams ( as you limit CV to max of 1 per team ? )
  16. This really.However, there is an easy solution to make it a lot harder to snipe you: ask a US CA to escort you for the first wave of planes. Most CV players won't come in a second time when they see how futile it was ( losing all planes and no dmg done)

    How are you meant to play low tier cv's?

    In al honesty: my xp gains were way better with the full damage setup on both Independence and Ranger ( even if they lack a fighter ). On Lexington I'd have to agree with you.For Bogue: I'd stick with stock loadout as well. Those torps can just tear up BB in one volley.

    BB/C High Tier Aiming Solutions

    This really, those BB staying behind make our CA very reluctant to move forward and as a consequence the DD has to charge in without support. It's a chain of reactions. If you can't hit at long ranges, get in closer. If you can't find your aim; keep it up, it'll improve. BB have enough power as it is. We don't need more sniping BB captains, we need BB captains that carry their teams.

    Why Play US CV's?

    lol, you don't play US CV do you? US CV can miss and do miss as well, sure they won't miss on a lone BB ( but why should they ? ) but a skilled BB captain will dodge torpedos ( not all off them, but he won't die in 1 run ). As for no coordinated gameplay in Random battlles: there is a chat window, if you want AA over ask for it. Mostly there is always one cruiser happy enough to stick close to a BB.

    I don't know what it is that you are complaining about really. If you want to go shoot get a gun boat, if you want to torp get an IJN DD. Can't have both. And trust me, a capable IJN DD will ruin my RU DD game because he will keep me spotted the entire time and nothing I can do about that.

    I will continue this line, cause these are still amazing gunboats. The ROF is still very good, so you'll keep setting fires and generally annoy other captains.

    Agree with you here, this could work both ways. Maybe make it so that AA gets an extr buff of 10% per tier difference ( as they do with fighters ) and also give planes 10% AA damage reduction per tier difference? Well, they gave the auto drop more accuracy under AA fire, but didn't follow up on the alt key drop. Please make it so that this is also an option ( cause dropping with alt key is harder than the auto drop ) Maybe some extra damage, don't need speed / range but I just want to feel that I do damage. Okay, might actually help. Well, I agree with MM for tiers, but I don't nescessarily think having 1 CV vs 0 CV is that terrible. AA is super strong anyways. ( and this will make IJN DD actually work for their XP :p ) Maybe I will, but for now RU DD are way more fun Thanks for your constructive comments tho

    I stopped playing at Lexington and swithed to Russian DD: and I don't regret it. Why? DD is fun, keep moving, keep shooting, always action. CV got very boring at tier VIII. I absolutly loved my tier VII Ranger, however: - At tier VIII I regulary encounter tier IX BB, and even a lone Iowa will eat all planes alive before they even hit him, - I love to do manual drop with bombers, however when a cruisers activates the AA ability this is not viable as it is soo inacurate ( granted the auto drop got a bit better, but auto drop is lame :p ). - The damage / speed my torpedos to at high tiers compared to DD torpedoes is a joke. A DD can volley a BB off the field, I can't. - The very lame fighter mechanics where the player who engages first almost always wins in identical setups, no skills required. - The MM: yes, it was ridiculous before to have a CV VI vs a CV VIII. But please, can we also have matches where one side has a CV, and the other hasn't ( this reduces the sometimes very long waiting time, plus there is so much AA anyways ). - The Lexington has poor choice of squadrons: basicly the fighter setup is useless and because ALL IJN CV have tons of fighters AND dps planes the damage setup is useless.
  24. I play both US and RU dd. Up to Farragut: no issues in dealing with same tier RU dd ( and vice versa, they are pretty matched ). Still need to get to Mahan so can't say about Kiev. However, the main problem from Kiev ( and Tashkent, can 't say higher cause not there ) is the detection range: a skilled IJN dd will keep you spotted the whole game and you won't even get a glimpse of him. So you're always at risk ( torps or gunfire from anyone who wants to shoot you ). Only a stupid IJN will come and get spotted: they will be eaten alive. Another danger is multiple dd: you will be spotted first, and will kill you if you're without support. However: if you want a fair 1 vs 1 dd fight: don't fight a RU dd, make sure you have backup. If you want to nerf their hp then II suggest you buff their detection range, cause no matter what: a Kiev that fires is always visible ( so he NEEDS more hp to stay alive ).
