Radar removing skill is potato talk. Or are you one of those 'radar is an I win button' type of players? You call that balanced? Maybe because at that tier the stealth torp range is so small. At higher tiers it will get ridiculous. Which is exactly what you started. But I'm glad you see the slope you started to go down. And I as a DD player don't have an issue with the current meta. I can play just fine.

LOL, if radar were to work continuisly and over the entire map I'd agree. But it doesn't. You need a good position and you need to pick the good moment to use it. As for you being there, I very much doubt so as you have no high tier CA games player (tier VIII and above - aka radar tiers), so what exactly do you know about high tier cruiser gameplay before and after radar was added? Cause you seem to know very well they are not smart enough without actually playing them. Honestly, if you can't deal with radar, then go play at lower tiers where there is no radar and you can just spam torps all day. I personally have no issues with my high tier DDs and will continu grinding my last line to tier X (btw, in this current 'unplayable meta' I finished my grind of tow tier X DD lines and the only times radar caught me was when I misplayed ).

Come on @Runegrem this is potato talk and you know it. You are more intelligent than this. If you want to know how CAs fight DDs like it was before radar; go play against those Kamikazes at low tier in a cruiser. Afterwards come tell me how balance that is. Watch out with that last paragraph, if WG were to listen to BB players they'd remove HE and fires, torps and flooding and make sure all DD are spotted from 15 km. Is that something you'd want?
-
So then we agree, your nice graph only shows the effects of more radar ships in game. And it shows nothing to say radar is bad, as radar hasn't changed for the duration of your graph. A situation that is temporary when the "Halsey mission frenzy" and the "Oh new CL frenzy" die down. As for the big picture, of course you will see and effect on DDs when radar was introduced, it was meant to keep DDs in check.

Just circle around those cruisers and shoot them. Nothing more fun to do :D
-
Sssst don't share that secret. You might get less XP next game.

great, just great, Emile bertin will be nerfed

Maybelline because that ship is strong? -
We're talking about CA and DD here. If you want to drag in BB then we might as well give all cruisers smoke and super heal. BB are a class apart that is far too easy to play. I was talking about cruisers that have to chose consumables.
-
Biassed poll anyone? Even WGs questionnaires are of better quality than this.
-
Yes it is actually, you choose between consumables. So why not for DD?

Feedback concerning BB rng spread in the current "HE matters" meta
159Hunter replied to Bratwurst_Bob's topic in General Discussion
Probably you don't remember what you posted. I propose you go look at #57 and see if you can spot IJN carrier in there. Let's see, Explosion -> Fire. As it happens in game with HE shells ( you know, exploding shells that create fires? ) Although Hiryū's propulsion was not affected, the fires could not be brought under control. At 21:23, her engines stopped, and at 23:58 a major explosion rocked the ship. So the ship was severly damaged with broken engines. Ofc it couldn't be salvaged, has nothing to do with enemy present. Which enemy btw? For the "my metal ship cannot burn comment" I refer you to post #62. But hey, if HE spamming is that OP: go play cruisers and club BBs yourself. -

Guess what happened, fires raged on the ship and as a result they created detonations on the ship. So are you now advocating that we should have fires creating magazine detonations in game?? I only countered what you mistankingly about IJN CV. And I will repeat myself again: are you sure you want to play the REALISM/HISTORICAL card??? -
It's not evidence of radar being bad, it just shows that atm meat has shifted to a lot of people playing US radar cruisers because of Halsey campaign and new US line. Why? Because radar has been in the game for the entire duration of you graph and has not changed during that period. The onlything that has changed is mentioned in my first line. All you did was misinterpret the data. There is also no counter to DDs lurking in concealement with you not knowing where they are... What bull.... There is one good counter: use brain and read game. As a DD player you need to think where a radar cruiser can effectively hide his ship. And the amount of spots is limited. Same as a ship being hunted by a DD needs to use brain and WASD hax. No, you're worse: you agree with realism when it suits you and don't when it doesn't. And in the end it boils down to personal opitions. You thing the mechanic is bad. I think it is good. And why is it personal? Because we're biased by the ships we play ( at least I play RA CA AND high tier DD …. ) If you know what you're doing you will escape: - always have an escape route ready, -don't push in further than needed, - wiggle that ship , - alter speed Result: you will get out faster and dodge shells. That is your escape chance. As I said before, if people want jammers: put it in the same slot as smoke. So you have to make a choice. No, you can still cap, you just need to make sure you cna gtfo quicly. But ofc, if you don't want to get detected or hit by a single shell then you cannot cap. But if you want risk free gameplay then DD gameplay isn't for you. I disagree with you.

So I wonder why on ships today, fire drills are rehearsed so often. But I guess all navies are wrong and you are right, fire aint dangerous. Thx for clarifying that, I'll make sure to mention it to my navy... And how do you get fires here? That's right, detonation from an HE shell (so sending out high velocity metal fragments at very high temperature onto a ship, so yeah they can cause fires) is exactly how fires are created in game. Historically ships didn't have a magical button that put out fires, they needed a lot of crew (reduced combat ability) and a long time + pumping a lot of water in the ship (reduced combat ability) so stop using the historical argument. BTW, I guess all those images of burning ships in Pearl Harbor, or the burning ships after Kamikaze attacks had nothing today with enemy attack? Or read here fe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Hiryū#Midway ) and you will see exactly that the CV did not detonate, it burned to death. -
Not all names had the epic red line on them. Names with thin red line are still readable. Conclusion: naming and shaming

Stop naming and shaming on the forum. It won't make your case. And it's again forum rules.

Operation Cherry Blossom - Your First thoughts?
159Hunter replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Operation is very very easy. I mean, losing is impossible? The only reason I lost a star on (very few) occasions, was losing one of the Marine divisions. Otherwise, very easy. Nice setting though ( night battle, the flares ) ideal for levelling the cleveland. -
Yes, the problem is called: using the search option on the forum to see what has been written lately. To avoid opening the same topic over and over again. @Cyberfounder you already got some very sound advice, let me give you two more tips: - Play radar cruisers yourself, this will give you insight in where they generally position (always easier to judge from own experience than from 'just seeing'). You'll learn their strengths and weaknesses a lot faster. - Make sure that on your minimap you have the gunrange and/or torprange circle of your DD visible. Generally one of those will be around 10km. That will make it easier to see if you are in danger of being radared or not (as US radar is max 9.9 km).

Hard to Play with High Tier Destroyers!!!
159Hunter replied to MNR1978's topic in General Discussion
High tier DDs are ok. Z-46 is very much ok. It's a goog DD. You want jamming devices? I have no problems with that, put them in the same slot as your smoke. No matter what, I'll still pick smoke. Why you ask? Cause radar doesn't hurt me that much. -
@OP: A software bug is an error, flaw, failure or faultin a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result, or to behave in unintended ways. nothing you mentioned above is classified as a bug

Don't forget +50% on torp reload time and -25% gunrange
-
And I disagree on that, it makes my CA gameplay far more dynamic. Playing against 4 DDs in a CA and not being able to spot them or pose a treath to them means that you'll just be eaten alive by them. Thus means that I have to sit further back and hope my DDs do something useful. Unfortunatly, after so many games I no longer rely on random DD players ( or any other for that matter ). And my DM being permaspotted by a DD cannot take this sustained fire ( far less than a Hindi, a Zao or a Moskva ). At least now this radar allows me to pose a treath to those DDs. Mind you, a good DD player can still keep you permaspotted, but then again: a good DD player will most of the times outplay a DM.
