Perhaps a better thread title would be 'Where do I smoke?' as this is really the crux of the matter. Firstly let's get one thing out the way straight off. Emerald is a truly abominable ship. But stick with it, the best is just around the corner. Where to smoke. Well unlike their real-life counterparts the RN line are really snipers. You are best served staying second line with them, but you have probably already found that out with the previous tiers. I find the whole line does best island hopping; trying to remain unseen as much as possible. So stay hidden, deploy smoke only when you really need too, or to support allies if required. Using RN smoke is a bit of a steep learning curve. It does not perform the same way you might have seen DDs use it. The regular line is a bit more forgiving than the Belfast but still requires care in use. You will find yourself overshooting your smoke on many occasions unless really careful about your speeds. That said, once mastered it becomes second nature. Hope some of this is helpful. Disclaimer: I do not profess to be anything other than mediocre/poor player, but I have had much experience of the RN line at the mid tiers

The OP is assuming that to play ranked you need to be 'good'. Well here's an interesting little fact that he appears to have totally overlooked. You don't. WoW is a free to play MMO game. It's there for everyone, not just elitist posers. If a poor player has fun in ranked then that is his/her prerogative.

Solution - Play low tiers. More fun, more action, fewer edge huggers.

I can't comment on the boat myself. But a +1 for you for making a positive and well written post; makes a nice change in these days of the 'whine'

I was not arguing that London was a naval base, I was suggesting WHY they chose it for an in-game port.

Purely guesswork here, but they released the RN line the same time. Now Portsmouth would be better, admittedly, but HMS Belfast is on the Thames.

I noticed he is no longer on his regular route with the food, now he is playing darts. Who? The chef on Missouri. WG said they were going to name him, no word yet as far as I am aware. I need to know these things.

I have well over 1000 games, and less than 50% WR. That was your question. I am certainly not a good player. Barely average, on a good day

Three letters A.R.P They looks like cheap trinkets from a tarts bedroom. Stupid. Oh and Blys. Whilst I have played her I really cannot make her jump through the hoops others seem to be able too. If I could I would happily gift her to another player. She looks nice though.

I vote yes, because I have almost 130 million now, and nothing to spend it on. I would even go further. Sharing premium boats. Reason? I have some that just dont work for me, and I am sure others might like them. I know many would like the Blys, a boat everyone except me seems to be good with. I would also get rid of the Spee, which I only got because she was free. Played twice, hated it.

Murphys Law; That which can go wrong WILL go wrong. There must be hundreds of such tales of woe that you might like to share with the rest. The reason I started this thread was because not one, not two, but THREE examples of the law happened to me just today. 1. 'Gain more than 750 free XP'. Now I rarely get that sort of free xp, so never gave it a second thought. Played my first game today and BINGO . . . got the required amount. End of game, no reward. Yup, I was playing the wrong tier. 2. 'Sink two enemy cruisers with a DD and be among the top three players by base XP in your team' Again, I hardly ever get more than one kill, and usually DDs, so I was delighted to bag myself two cruisers. I was disappointed to see no reward at the end of the game. Turns out that was LAST weeks mission. 3. 'Destroy 5 enemy ships T3 to T10' Amazingly I got my second Kraken ever. "WooHoo" thinks I. Alas I had not noticed it was for Co op battles only. I am sure you can do better, so lets be having some cringe-worthy tales of woe.

No idea about the first example, but I have had similar with the second. Sailing along, you go to turn and nothing responds. You cannot fire, you cannot use the chat. Then after a few seconds everything happens at once. Its packet loss I think, but I am no expert. Until this week I had NEVER had even so much as a bit of lag in WoW, high frame rates and excellent ping. I still have those, but have now seen this odd little bug four times. I can only assume it is something to do with WGs end. Others have told me the same sort of thing happening to them. I have not seen this bug, or whatever it is, for three days now, so I figured it had been sorted out.

How about it goes the opposite way? Let's have ships blown off course to make those tricksy shots a bit tricksier. Random sinkings from 100ft waves. Or waves damaging steering. Oh I forgot . . . nobody wants things harder.

One in twenty matches there might be one, so hardly prevalent really. And they are hardly cyclones. Just a bit of rain. The sea becomes no rougher, nor are there gales blowing you all over the map. No danger to shipping at all. I think what the OP is getting at is that he dislikes the sudden lack of visibility. Ok, that would be a issue if you just want to sail about in BBs blasting away from halfway across the map. Thankfully we don't all want that. For me the reduction in visibility means one of two things. 1. I can escape from a very bad situation. This happens to me a lot. I overextend myself. 2. I have to hunt down the vessel that just vanished. Quite enjoyable really.

Although, to be fair, they were all far more interested in seeing how effective their torps were in their shiny new boats to worry about the only lumbering cruiser. And as the only cruiser in the game I naturally attracted more attention than usual. Apologies for the thread hi-jack

Funny you should say that. When the German DDs arrived and everyone and his uncle was playing them, I was in my Emden and I was the ONLY non DD in the game. Eleven on my team, twelve on theirs. Naturally I lasted about as long as it took to be spotted. Oh, and it wasn't fun.

Looked at mine yesterday after reading the thread about Detonations, out of curiosity mostly. (58) Prior to that I think I have not even glanced at them since before Christmas. No interest in them at all. Sorry.

The T5 is a typo; if you try to join a game it wont illuminate the 'Battle' button until you select a T7. But the problem here is that you get potatoes, like me, who feel inclined to play just one game to get the container. I stress I have NOT done this, but the thought crossed my mind. I have zero interest in ranked, but do rather like the containers.
