It might, but I have been told repeatedly that BB are iconic, (unlike CA/CL and DDs), and that is why many people play them. Is it possible some of those individuals would become frustrated that the couldn't play their iconic ships and maybe leave the game?

I don't get much use out of extended gun range on US DDs. -
With regards to limiting the numbers of ships types in a game. Sub_Octavian - "....As for "enforced meta" the answer is no, and I don't see why it can change, unfortunately. There are several major problems in balancing the game meta with matchmaker, including absolute mess in competitive play and lots of problems with MM queue. So this will not happen...." Of course not too long ago SO was saying Japanese DDs were a "L2P" issue.

If that is true, then there is no problem. So why doesn't WG do it?

The problem, or one of the problems, with limiting BBs per match is the wait time. WG probably has statistics on that.

We all play for different reasons; and my reasons are no better or worse then yours, but I don't really care about overall win rate or damage. I use my stat on each individual ship to see if I am improving my overall performance; and if not, where do I need to improve.

Are those the same guns as the Akizuki (100 mm/65 Type98)? 5.4 concealment, 40 knots with a flag... 43 with boost, rudder shift down to maybe 3.2 secs Something like that? Akizuki rate of fire and turret traverse speed maybe? This would be a strong Japanese DD with IFHE.

I wonder if WG doesn't have a market here with these types of ships. They wouldn't have to be very different to attract interest... for example Yuudachi; especially if they added more content. Just musing.

To be sold as Premiums. That makes sense if they are going to pay the voice actress (I had to look it up - Shiina Natsukawa 20 years old). If they are going so far as to pay her, is it possible they could add more 'content' with her voice acting? Beyond the standard already in game. I suspect they paid Steven Seagal for his work.

Perhaps, but spotting torpedoes with aircraft is more a game balancing decision as torpedo visibility varied significantly during WW2.

I couldn't say, as I lack experience with them. I can say from experience that this is not the case with DDs or between nations. Russian DDs mid to higher tier do not play like Japanese or American.

Again this is what you claimed... stats wise: "...DDs are immense fun to play because you can rack up high damage whenever you want to..." Where is this higher damage? Their is nothing wrong with average damage, but that wasn't your claim. --------------------------------------------------------------- 9 Battles (Win Rate 44.44%) 6 in the Shiratsuyo (Tier 7) and 3 in Benson (Tier 8) Average Damage 70,128Kills 1.7 Since you brought it up. I am happy with the damage and ships sunk average, but the games were like 4 wins and 5 loses. I should have done better.

I am a DD main, mostly US and Japanese DD, with +4,000 game and I was rewarded liquidator 56 times. That is less than 1.4% and in many case that would have be ships with very low health anyway. Flooding can be instantaneously repaired, while actual damage can not. So if you want to increase torpedo damage by 10-15% that would work out well for me, but less so for Battleships and Cruisers. Your suggested change might not be good for the game overall.
