Why would a "DD player" care is a BB got def AA? Someone who cared about game balance might. Just to add on... you know hypocrisy and all. A Fletcher clone with these torpedoes gives CA/CL about 4.5 sec reaction time, which is great for me as a DD player, but is it justified game balance wise? I don't see it. Hopefully testing will clarify. Now your turn. Probably not. Mediocre BB players already are in snipe mode; and while decent players BB may not like the added risk of DW torpedoes, they know that snipe mode is fairly ineffective. DW torpedoes don't give extended range, just for the most part, reduced reaction time; and as is, the majority of BBs at mid tiers have no interest in getting into torpedo range... excluding the Germans, but they have hydro, Tier 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Torpedo Range 6.0 km 6.0 km 5.5 km 6.0 km 8.0 km 8.0 km 9.15 km 10.5 km 13.5 km- 330 replies

Would it be fair to say that DDs make up less than 25% of ships played on average? Is this where you would like them to be? Note: I play DDs, so less DDs the better for me. All battle tiers, Random battle DDs and CV = 26.5 % Battle tier X, Random battle DDs and CV = 28.9% Battle tier VIII, Random battle DDs and CV = 24.5%- 330 replies

I play DDs. This is at worst a minor buff to my game play, because even if I don't use DW torpedoes if my opponents do... I am immune. For me it isn't about losing vs gaining something... that is fine, but that it just looks like cruisers are going to suffer the most from these new torpedoes. I could be wrong, so I would be interested in see what testing shows.- 330 replies

Will it? As is stated now, DD players must choose before the game starts: choose normal torpedoes and nothing is very different, but if you choose the new torpedoes cruiser will suffer but your ability to counter other DDs is nerfed. More BBs will just sit in the back and be relatively unaffected. -

I could be doing it wrong, but.. it looks like at some tiers cruiser will have there reaction time reduced to about 4.5 seconds. Because a lot of cruiser players are on or near the front, there will be no one to spot the torpedoes a head of time. That seems a bit rough. Drange / (Vtorp * .0026) = Treaction -

The answer is obvious: allow DDs to select torpedo type in game, while making cruiser immune to the new torpedoes. -

Tier VI Tier VII Tier VIII Tier IX Tier X Torpedo Detection Range 1.2 km 1.3 km 1.1 km 1.4 km 1.4 km "Deep Water" Detection Range 0.8 km 0.8 km 0.7 km 0.8 km 0.8 km If they do hit cruisers, reaction time is reduce by about 1/3, which is a significant nerf. I can't see how that is justified. This isn't a Battleships nerf, but a cruiser one. -

If the new torpedoes are effective against CA/CLs, it will make their survival more difficult; but if the new torpedoes are ineffective against CA/CL it will leave DDs no effective weapons system against them. Either a DD or a CA/CL nerf. -

BBs always seem to out last CA/CLs. -
I haven't played any DDs at that level for sometime, but my problem was... My stats Ship Games Played WR Damage Derzki 251 61.35% 29,718 (Torpedoes 5 х 2 is silly fun) Wickes 207 63.29% 31,310 (Great torpedo knife fighter) Wakatake 159 68.55% 47,215 (Long range stealth killer) Campbeltown 34 61.76% 30,787 (Something... I just never got a feel for it.) Maybe I should have just given it time.
