WG fix the basics? You are an idealist. -
WG we dont need any more radar and hydrophones on literally every ship!

They should have left cruiser with the unique consumables and everyone else with the basics. But it is too late for that. -

Ouch! No disrespect, but if DDs are constantly torping you from smoke... you have bigger issues. A smoke screen is a huge sign that say. "Torpedoes coming from this direction... watchout." Just to note: I like short range hydro on cruisers... I like the game play. On DDs and BBs... not at all. -

Hatsu was ok. -
For me, the overall play in scenarios has improved... a lot. My impression is that the player base, after some experience with this, now know what to do.
-
To paraphrase: you just don't like the game play. Do you think it is likely that WG will change the fundamental game play of an entire line of ships?

0.7.1 - Removal of premiums from tech tree and shop
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
It is the bases of my mid-tier game play in a DD. I try to find ways to give players on my team a better chance to succeed; so in a DD, that can mean scouting and screening. BBs have a reasonable concern that it they commit blind to and area they could find themselves overwhelmed by DDs and/or torpedoes, but if I am in out in front those concerns can be mitigated, which allows them to push forward a bit more or just be a bit more on their game. The use of defensive smoke to protect battleships or cruisers improves their game, and thus my chances of winning increase. -
Did Sub_Octavian warn everyone about this? Was this one of the other options? --------------------------------- On the 13th September 2016 - when talking about the (cancelled) bow armour changes for BBs - Sub_Octavian stated "BB population increase is the real problem now. They are balancing on the edge of allowed combat effeciency and their numbers are growing. And they live too long. So we need to find the way to tweak them. The proposed way is actually the most delicate (God, I am happy you didn't see other options)." ------------------------------

What is at Tier 10? -
In Ranked, a 7 vs 7 type game in which winning and team play is so very important. The ship with the lowest damage on your list has a slightly higher win rate. What does than indicate?
-
I would have preferred hydro stayed a cruiser option. Too late for that.
-
No it wasn't.

What tier and what ship is good to learn to play DD's?
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Linkaex's topic in Destroyers
My advise on these DDs is from over two years ago. The game meta has changed so... Japan Umikaze (T2) = a great ship to learn and practice stealth torpedo tactics. USA Wickes (T3) = a very strong short range knife fighter that teaches positioning, stealth and battle tactics. Russia Storozhevoi (T2) = the start of a DD line that relies more on gun than torpedoes, but has powerful torpedoes. I would recommend you play each +50 games until you routinely beat the server averages for win rate and damage. You should be so comfortable in a ships that when the game ends and you haven't done better than average...much netter than average... you should be shocked and annoyed with yourself. Once you have reached that point, then you can move to the next ship in the line and start the process over. -

Loyang is situational, and really only excels when you fight it on its terms. Close and personal.

I post those stats. Cruisers are played more than DDs.

success in this game = no EDIT in your team
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Hiro_016's topic in General Discussion
I won't tell you what to do in your CV, but... When a DD heads to a cap, to contest it, they generally go in blind. They can look at the list of the opposing team and see what DDs and CL the enemy has, but they can not see their deployment. A DD with a concealment advantage has the initiative, but a DD with a concealment disadvantage can find themselves in trouble rather quickly. For the average DD player this can be a major problem and often leads to a quick death. A CV player can change this fairly easily. Scout the cap. Or if you really want to alter the dynamic scout the enemies side of the cap and linger. If your team starts in the north, push all the way through to the southern border with a fighter; and the opposing teams DDs will scatter. Your DD should get an easy cap and your team will be in a better position. Of course this all depends on where the AA ships are, what the opposing team CV is doing, has Cruiser and Battleships moved up to support, and if your DD player is at least average. As a DD player, if I see the opposing team CV support capping, I know that it is going to be a difficult battle. I risk being constantly spot and primary target. A CV that goes for the opposing CV, means that I can scout and re-position as I see fit with little interference from the enemy team. I am just saying from experience what a CV can do to influence cap contesting with just a fighter. No need to commit any strike aircraft. What you do is up to you. -
In a DD, you should be maneuvering as soon as you see the planes; or at least pre-planning your tactics. I don't care for CV in game, but if they attack a DD before it can maneuvering... that is entirely the DDs fault.
-
Then stop grinding, because there is no end game at Tier 10.

They only DD on your team and they didn't even get support from the teams CV? That is rough. -

I think this isn't a simple yes or no question. For example, as a 43% win player after +700 game, I took the advise give to another player in that situation and accepted... I sucked. Really, really bad. I started over, and one of the first ships I replayed, one that i was absolutely horrible at, was the Wakatake (this was over two years ago). I did well in it, because I had finally learn how torpedo work and to deal damage. I was still a relatively bad player. Scouting, screening, smoking team mates... what is that? Also back then capping wasn't rewarded directly at all. Because damage was so heavily reward I failed to develop overall good DD skills. I was completely self centered... winning wasn't the goal... it just happened. Even in the games I lost, I did better than I would have playing a supporting role, especially with my limited skills. BB positioning is both critical to success and has a rather difficult learning curve. A very skilled BB player that camps in the back the whole game could have made a better choice. A novice BB player on the other hand, is probably stay back and learning/experiencing BB tactic first hand. The BB novice may have got lucky yoloing and winning the game, but winning a single game isn't everything. What is more important, winning a single game or improving your game play so that you becoming an overall better player.
