    A simple fix for BB camping

    Insert Japanese long range torpedo meta Stealth firing Shooting from smoke Cruiser getting the advantages of ATF/BFT Etc. Why is every nerf to game play and fun ok, accept when it come to BBs? I personally like a heavy BB meta, especially a camping one, but the justifications for maintaining it are questionable. Such as I play BBs because Kurfürst is iconic.

    As a DD player, I don't have to hit a BB with torpedoes... my close proximity causes them concern... rightfully so. BB proximity causes a similar concern to cruisers. This is my response to why I wants BBs to push... on my team.

    I want the opposing teams BB to set back (fortunately that is almost a given), but I would like to see my teams BB push forward so they can suppresses the opposing team cruisers actions. A BB 25Km from an opposing cruiser has little suppression effect, but one 10 Km away... that is a different matter.

    A long time ago, the rewards for capping were extremely poor; and on the map Two Brothers all four caps were 'unclaimed' at the start. Caps B in the south and C in the north were right in front of the cruiser/battleships forces on your team; and in to many cases, they would sail around the cap forcing me in my DD on the flank to come back and cap it. Now the vast majority of players understand that the rewards for capping are 'good'; and react accordingly. I belief the best approach to fixing BBs would to be incentivizing game actions you wish to encourage. Of course the big question is what actions do you expect out of BBs?

    My experience has been otherwise. I just got flamed yesterday for three actions... 1. A DD flamed me for when he noticed that Deep Water torpedoes passed harmlessly under his ship. I wasn't actually aiming at him but at the BB farther behind him. 2. A BB player flamed me because I fired my torpedo at at target outside my range. "That ship is too fu**ing far away idiot!" The BB in question was moving towards me, and would be in range when the torpedoes intercepted their path. 3. A BB player flamed me, "Cap moron!" In a Standard battle, with limited time left, outnumbered two to one, I entered the opposition cap and stop their point progress long enough for us to have the point lead advantage. I then took flight as them attempted to engage me. Our point lead meant an automatic win as long as I wasn't sunk. My opinion, if those who so easily spew toxin at other would do some constructive self examination... we would all be better.

    Just let me get this out of the way first: for me, there are never enough BBs in a match. I do believe that game mechanics heavily reward BB payers for this play style. As to how to adjust that...
  13. You don't have to be happy with a higher win rate. People can play for different reasons... personal choice.

  15. My DD religion. With you out there doing well in your DD, the battleships and cruisers around you, will have a very good game; and they will achieve damage and kills well abut there average. Next game, without you there, their performance will fall, because this was actually damage/kills you have made happen even though they will not appear anywhere in your stats other than win rate. They receive the benefit of your good play... for one game, while your receive that benefit every game
  16. I think it might. Is there a possibility, how ever small, that game play has change such that the best way to play is the camping, damage dealing game style? With regards to DDs. I believe scouting, screening, capping, harassing, etc. are currently very good at increasing your win rate... far more than damage dealing. That is a fairly good incentive to a certain type of game play.
  17. With all due respect: wasn't this the video where he was in a T10 BB, spent a large percentage of his time behind islands near a cap that was already taken, un-spotted, doing damage, ending the game at virtual full health with 4 unused heals?
  18. I don't think WG has much interest in this, because lower skilled players at higher levels will have trouble supporting their game play without spending money.

  20. Since BB players did not use this captain skill, then is not correct to say they have come to rely on SI. Isn't this similar to RL on DDs? It wasn't needed before, but now DD players have come to rely on it? Regardless, WG isn't going to do anything in this area. Not their style. What they most likely will do (in my opinion) is to add more gimmicks like Asashio, CV AP bombs, etc. to correct 'balance'... most likely causing more issues. Good discussion. Thank you.
  21. No disrespect but, neither of those scenarios are this "...you will only punish BB captains who actually try to get close and support their team mates..." The question is not does SI give important information to BB players in many instances or help them when they are acting alone, but... will it only harm those BB players that push and support with their team. Just to add on: this was a nothing skill for BB players when it was a captains skill. So crucial?

    Similar skill? Overall win rate is a virtually worthless stat. How would you define similar skill with game statistics?
  23. How often do BBs "close and support their team mates" with gun fire and are not spotted? I can say as a DD player, if you are close and supporting your team mates, while firing your guns... you are spotted. SI has little meaning at this point. Why would BBs be different?
