Whats really wrong about ranked.....
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Gojuadorai's topic in General Discussion
You claimed many thing regarding my intentions, none which were true with my original post. Is it your habit to make broad accusations? I posted originally why I looked up stats: "The North Carolina on our team calls out caps. After the game, which we won, but it was odd, I decided to do some research." -

Where in anything I posted did I equate game stats with anything other than the game? -
Ranked Battles Season 9 - Discussion Thread
Culiacan_Mexico replied to MrConway's topic in General Discussion
I am finished with season 9; and as I expected, I didn't find it very enjoyable. I started at Rank 20 and worked up to Rank 11 playing the Loyang. 26 Battles 16 Victories 10 Defeats 4 Stars Lost 6 Stars Retained For me the biggest issues were... 1. Team mates who seemed unsure what the goals were. 2. While some battleship and cruiser players were very good, others seemed to want to hide and not contest caps. 3. I think tiers 8/10 are poorly chosen; as too many players lack the skill and experiance to play well at those levels. 4. The whole process seems to be nothing more than a grind. Just my opinion. -

1. Why would you think other wise? 2. You are of course wrong. I person claiming to know how to play a specific CV yet has a 20% win rate over 1000 games is not going to be taken as serious as the same individual with a 90% win rate over a 1000 games. -
Why do some people refer to sailing in formation as 'lemming mode'?

Two or three BBs staying together is a strong deterrent to CV strikes; while at the same time suppressing cruisers and DDs. -

1. Like I said... I looked up their stats because they behaved oddly in that battle. I was interested in why, if it was because they were inexperienced or poor players or if there was something I could learn. 2. If you think stats, players accomplishment/abilities in game don't matter when it come to a match... you are in error. 3. Base on context... absolutely. If I start tell CV player how they should play their carriers, I fully expect me to be called out based on my 'stats' do to my limited experienced. I could walk into CERN today and start telling them all how physics works, but as soon as they check my stats (expedience and education) my opinion will be given all the regard they warrant. -
This is generally true for me. At mid-tier the jump from 6 to 8 in DDs is pretty large. Benson or Loyang vs a Faragut is a major disadvantage or Hatsuharu vs Akizuki? But having said that, I don't see WG changing it; and it has nothing to do with wait times or diversity.

During prime hours there is a waiting time?

Ok, but I wonder how does that relate to me looking up stats after the battle? Lin3 indicated that was a "prime example" of something. -

Pointless. The good CV players know what they are doing... where and when to commit their air craft. The rest are clueless anyway. -
do jap torpedo boats do anything useful?

I played one game of ranked today. Map Hotspot, span in the north, I am in the Loyang. The North Carolina on our team calls out caps. After the game, which we won, but it was odd, I decided to do some research. Seriously! The North Carolina who called out caps, hide behind island the whole game, and score lower experience than any ship on the losing team... is at rank 11. If you are in the tier 6-10 bracket... he is coming for you. --------------------------------------------------------------- My Team Loyand (Me) Asashio 703 43.67% Mogami 1 049 55.86% Kutuzov 2 186 43.32% Tiripitz 2 263 41.94% Kagero 3 415 39.94% North Carolina 481 44.91% The Opposing Team Loyang 2 797 47.19% Benson 1 684 52.38% Atago 4 428 49.37% Atago --private-- Amagi 1 711 43.37% Tiripitz 1 035 43% Kagero 2 346 48.38% -
I think "WG should create event for free" Conqueror. There haven't been a lot of Conqueror threads recently, so giving them away to a large percentage of the player base, unskilled player base, would change that.

...and this is why it is a "completion to keep my sanity". Players should know that your actions will now have a greater impact on the out come, yet so many seemed lost to the basics of strategy. Some games you are in harmony with another player or two and the game just flows... it is almost music; and then the next game I wonder... when and why did they let tier 1 players rent tier 8 ships? I played a rank game on north where I was alone fighting for the contested cap against a Kagero and a New Orleans in my Loyang. I had concerns with my abilities to win this engagement, but it went very well. It ended with the Kagero sunk the cap taken and the New Orleans in retreat; and curiously I was never detected by radar. Of course all became clear when the opposing team players ranted to all, that this player choose not to select that consumable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I decided to play one game of Ranked last night. Map is Neighbors. My Team Opposing Team Lexington 43.83% Graf Zeppelin 59.73% Edinburgh 50.89% Chapayev 50.59% Loyang (Me) 54.08% Loyang 54.08% Kagero 48.91% Z-23 49.44% Plus miscellaneous Battleships Note: win rates are this season ranked server wide. My initial impressions with the lineup was... Lexington... seriously? They also had radar, but I have found that British cruiser players can be a curious lot, as there just seems to be a many of those players who get everything they can out of their ship. We span in the north; and I am west of my team with the Edinburgh. The goals are called out, and we head to the closes cap while the rest of the team moves east then south to take the 'contested' cap. Things go to 'annoying mode' right from the start. Our CV player runs his fighters out and when he encounter the opposing teams fighters, runs back and parks them over me while I am trying to cap in stealth; the opposing team fighters detect me, shells fall, and I have to smoke up. Three times during this game the Lexington player would draw the Graf Zeppelin aircraft to me while I was in stealth.... costing me each time. Once the Lexington was finally sniped, I felt we had a better chance to win. So rhetorically I say again, how can you tell the difference between CV player working against his team and just the average bad CV player. On the other hand, the Edinburgh player did not disappoint. We worked in and around are cap the entire game: holding when we could, retreating when necessary; and then retake when appropriate. An impressive display on his part. The game ended with me last alive on our team, sinking the Graf Zeppelin and then running away from the Chapayev ; then we won on points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -

I don't know. Rank seems like a completion to keep my sanity. -
WG loves individual damage and ship sinking, which often is the opposite of team play. Their mission sink 20 Russian ships is a prime example of rewarding poor play. It just seem to be their way.
-
My motive are completely selfish... if I give my team a chance to enhance their game play, then I win more games. WG does not do well in presenting this concept to new DD players.
-
Just saying. I don't mind being bottom tier, but more often than not, I get fairly annoyed with the top tier players on my team.
-
Well, I think the proper place to position my Destroyers is between the opposing teams DDs and my Battleships and Cruisers. If my team is +5 Km behind me they can generally rest assured that torpedoes are not an issue (mid tier). Just to note: if I am within 8 Km of an opposing teams DD... I assume torpedoes are in the water.
-
Good assumption.
-
I have no issue with that, but from past comments I think WG might.

Are you suggesting they be decreased or increased?
