It might work out, but a game in which DDs follow CV into the dust bin...
-
Of course there is. Shima torpedo walls were worse than anything radar has done. WG stepped in an 'fixed' it. If you equate Shima torpedo walls with radar... we should have both in game?
-
My comment was in response to nerf CVs... not anything related to radar.
-
Wrong. One is a damage type the other is an area denial tool. If WG adjust Loyang hydro (area denial tool) that wouldn't be the same as a nerfed to fire. Hydro is a tool that alters game play... it doesn't deal damage. French BB speed boost is a tool.
-
If I may play devil advocate... maybe WG recognizes they are just incapable of learning.
-
Not PC response. 1. I have seen some DD player state if you get spotted in your destroyer that you are doing it wrong. Those players are idiots. For higher rewards you have to take higher risks, and that will lead you to getting spotted and taking damage. Those DD player who play it safe are little different that backline camping BBs: they are in the game but their contribution to the outcome is virtually nil. 2. What is the recommended tactic for a DD fighting radar... avoid doing so. Radar is an area denial tool that kills of the uninformed and weak DD players. What is the response from skilled DD players with regards to radar? Radar kills of and drives away the weak DD players... leaving a stronger more influential group behind. Why is that beneficial to the game?

This is an independent rude comment on "The Smoke Meta". The cause of a heavy smoke meta is: 1. Too many BBs. 2. Cowards in DDs and cruisers. 3. Smoke lasting too long. When hydro first came out, and BBs were noticeably fewer, an opposing teams DD hiding in smoke was blood in the water for a cruiser with hydro.. if that player had any guts, most did not. Now with so many BBs,... it is different. An opposing DD who smokes up near me... he better have lots of support close by, otherwise their life is going to get interesting fast.
-
Radar isn't an anti-smoke meta tool... it is an area denial tool, which in my opinion, has just facilitated another type of stale meta as seen in kots. Massive camping. While radar did not cause this meta, it sure has added to it. Just to note: I don't see WG changing radar and the current game meta seems to be what WG wants. We are just talking... the effect on anything will be nil.

1. The same ones that have always been there? What happens in game when the isn't radar? 2. I don't recall at the time or since WG ever indicating that DDs do too much damage; in fact at every tier, most DDs, are under performers in this area. If radar is in game to nerf DD damage, then it should be removed immediately and without prejudice. 3. I don't disagree with any of this, but... what is the effect on overall game play?
-
Can we not just discuss radar and its effects on the game? It think many/most recognize that 'smoke usage' can be detrimental to overall game play; and a few of us just wonder if radar, as implemented, is the best way to address that issue? Where is the harm in that?
-
No, it is just something DD players have to learn to deal with, because it does add depth to the game after all.
-
How fun is for a DD to go all game being spotted and attacked by CVs "without them being able to do anything about it?"

How much Credits you have? (2018 Edition)

Go old school and play lots of mid tier ships... you can build up silver. -
You think the games is less campy now than when it was in open BETA? Just to note, 'Radar' was another incidence of WG throwing out a gimmick. If smoke camping is such a problem, why do only some ships have radar? Why is restricted to higher tiers? If there is a problem with smoke camping or ships firing from smoke (cruisers/battleships) the solution is to adjust smoke duration. Directly address the issue not throw out gimmicks. Radar is an area denial tool. --------------------------------------------------------- Sub_Octavain 2. There will soon be some changes that will fix the DD balance: VMF cruisers Radar on high tier US and VMF ships 13. Did the radar help counter the torpedo soup (or walls, whatever you prefer)? A. Hard to say, since there aren't a lot of radar equipped ships at high tiers yet. However, radar wasn't meant to be the sole solution to the torpedo soup problem. We still need to solve it from a different standpoint, and that is exactly what we plan to do in the next update, by changing certain elements little by little. You will know next week what we concretely plan to do regarding this matter.

PLANES STILL ALIVE AFTER CARRIER or SHIP IS DESTROYED

I don't think it is game breaking. -
You don't fully understand game mechanics.
-
Wait until the US light cruisers come out and lots of players are grinding them.
-
In COOP, this is true. The do detect torpedoes well beyond the stated detection limit, but I suspect that WG kind of changed the numbers around for the bots. I found, for me, torpedoes need to be used up close and personal against bots.

Why do some people refer to sailing in formation as 'lemming mode'?
Culiacan_Mexico replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
What do you mean by this statement? -
Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
I was fortunate enough to be on the same team with Abooination and Flambass. The other team was less fortunate. -
Why do some people refer to sailing in formation as 'lemming mode'?
Culiacan_Mexico replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
My definition: A group of ships, usually BBs, but sometime cruisers, that blindly follow others with little regard for overall tactic situation. If the lead ship goes behind land mass and parks, then follow blindly right along. Their choice of movement and positioning is whatever the herd does. For good or ill. -
Is the Tachibana Lima mission only for US players?

It is just my opinion about my experience; and I have no doubt other do like it. People are different... that is good. With regards to Tier 8/10, I feel that the game meta is significantly different to mid tier or low tier; and without experience... it can be difficult.
