How is your ranked progression going?

Ok.

Spotting I believe spotting is 'seeing' the opposing ship that your teammates can not see, and allowing them to fire on it. I would suspect that light cruiser, with their vulnerability to taking damage, are good recipient of spotting. A Cleveland behind land mass, with a DD out spotting, allow the CL to shoot over the island, remain undetected, and cause damage. A DD can spot for a British CL who is sitting in smoke. Scouting Is about gather intel. At he start of the match getting and gather information on what the opposing ship makeup is in front of your team. The purpose is not so they can take long range shots, but to give them intel on the opposing team. This also come into play when the to side are exchanging gunfire, but you know there is an opposing DD on the other team. Scouting out that position allow your teammates to alter position or tactics. Screening Stopping the opposing DD(s) from closing in on your team and detecting incoming torpedoes. Smoke is a multi-purpose tool. Sitting in it and just continuously firing is not its best use.

You gave your opinion, with no argument, which is how I responded. You said (just your opinion) that spotting was the primary role, but never gave 'argument' to as why. You place a DD countering other DDs as much less important, yet again you gave no argument. . -------------- Primary role: using there high concealment to get close to enemy to spot them for the big guns Secondary role: contesting cap (this dont mean sail in and smoke up a smoked up dd can not fulfill its primary role in smoke) more of spot things entering the cap for said big guns Tertiary: fire support/DD hunter/harass

How is your ranked progression going?

I started a rank 16 this season. I am bad. I played two game and got to rank 15. I don't know about going any farther. -
Enhance means whatever it takes. On some teams, a DD out in front guarding them from the opposing teams DDs and spotting torpedoes allows them to have very good games, while on other teams... the same play... does not help them at all. If I spot for players with some ability, then it is enhancement, but if the players I am spotting for are just interested in camping, my spotting is doing nothing good. I am enabling their... addiction. Each team/player is different, so what works for one (defensive smoke) may not work for another. On some teams you had better do a lot of carrying, because otherwise... Spotting, scouting, screening, smoke, etc are tools, but how effective each is depends on the players on your team. My opinion

If you are dead, it is hard to 'enhance your team'.
-
It was the OP who stated that spotting was a DDs primary role. I just disagreed. Contesting caps is very important, but I would put 'enhance your team' right at the same level of importance.
-
I like to get out early and scout ahead of the cruisers and battleships, let the see what they are facing... spotting the opposing team. It is a role a DD can play, but is it the primary role? Now in divisions it might be, because you have two other teammates to take reasonable advantage, but in solo randoms? Spotting may play a role, but it isn't the primary role of a DD. IMO

Win Rate and High stat player attitudes

I believe it is a meta change. -
Win rate has to be looked at in context, which is why overall winrate... is of questionable meaning.

Win Rate and High stat player attitudes

My opinion. The average DD player can not count on inflicting enough damage on a regular basis to carry games constantly.... I know I can't. So to win, you need to enhance your teammates gameplay. Scouting and screening your BBs and cruisers, keeping the enemy DDs at bay, allows your team mates to have better games, which rewards you a more likely chance to win. -
You could be right.
-
Why are you bringing up my stats? Did I bring up yours?
-
1. Role is not universal across all DDs. 2. You say, "well yes it should enhance winning chance spotting ships allow for other ships to wreck them." Given the odds that half of the players on your team have winrate below 50%, why would you rely on them to win and not yourself? 3. 'Team', in that you are on one side or the other, but... why do you think three man divisions with somewhat above average players (solo) can be so decimating in randoms? They can have a 55% solo win rate yet match with to other teammate shoot up to +70%. When you are solo in random, team work is minimal.
-
Look at the stats provided on another thread more than half of the players have win rates below 50%. Were we talking about divisions? Divisions and solo are to separate things.
-
Since I don't agree with your view on spotting?
-
The average player in World of Warships... has a below average win rate. You want to rely on them to carry you to victory?
-
What does spotting do for a DD? Great experience? Lots of silver? Enhanced winning chance? The answer is no.
-
No.

They said that those who use radar are too stupid to understand the game mechanics if radar works line of sight. I think it has more to do with programming issues. I play DDs , and line of sight would not hurt me, but that isn't not going to happen.
-
WG has stated before that line of sight radar is a no go, so nothing can really be expected there.

Ships should not be balanced around Co-OP.
-
For what purpose? Why make this type of change and what would be the goals?

While I don't play any of them, some ships seemed to be balanced for that type of game play. That is just game design.
