The direction of the game, and the meta.
Culiacan_Mexico replied to ApesTogetherStronK's topic in General Discussion
Five BBs is one of the worse things that ever happened to this game, as it lead to the decline and passivity of cruisers. What happens when cruisers go passive? My view is that they keep altering the META to reward passive BB play, while punishing aggressive BB play. Even CCs now sit behind land mass, rarely move, and just push the left mouse button. -
Suggestion: Allow divisions in future ranked seasons
Culiacan_Mexico replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
Allow divisions, but double the rewards if you do it solo. -
I believe US radar range is lower than their detection range. Meaning... if they move into open water a DD will at least spot the CL at the same time radar spots it, if not before; and then CLs will become the target of focus fire and die. The more likely possibility is that CL players still camp but are less effective for their team. Some of the HE spammers can do that because LoS is not required. (LoS for targeting)
-
In your opinion. My opinion is the opposite. The current spotting mechanic that does not require LoS, allows massed focus fire, which leads to passive game play. This is not new. WG saying they are not going to use LoS for radar is a recognition that US light cruisers can not move in the open and use radar. To much focus fire. The choice by WG to limit the ability of other team members to shoot at what radar spots is a fairly clear indication that they recognize focus fire is an issue against DD and British Cruisers. Whatever changes they make that limits focus fire from radar... it will not affect the issues cruisers and battleships have and their tendencies to hide... behind rocks or at extreme range. With reason. Many of these player do starting moving more aggressively later in the game once some opposing ship are sunk, which equate to less focus fire.

You are correct.

Who is going to educate WG?

When Belfast cruisers roamed the seas, it was tough. If you spotted one then that meant they could spot you , position themselves, activate radar/smoke and then ruin your day. US light cruisers lack the smoke the Belfast used for defensive, so they must stay in the open, detected, and under focus fire. The really weren't designed for that type of combat. Risk/reward is great, but I am not convinced there would be that much reward for light cruisers with a simple LoS change.

Nearly 2019, and we still have detonations in the game
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Ydoum's topic in General Discussion
Detonations are just rng, so they should be balanced so each ship type experiences them at the same rate. -
You have to keep track of radar ships. If you don't know where they are, then act like there is one right behind the closes rock.
-
Your opinion is that this is of great important.
-
It could, and I hope that WG will look closely at this. Some feel it is bad for DDs, but I see it otherwise. With radar ships you always expect them to be 'there' until intel lets you know otherwise. Differing opinions are good. The main argument against LOS radar is its effect on division, competitive play, etc. Plus, in the current META many of the radar cruisers are fragile, so moving behind the rocks into a more dangerous areas could be detrimental to them. Perhaps too much. The possible implementation of a time delay for team targeting is...interesting? A two second delay is useless, but a 40 second time delay for US radar would cause... 'waves'.

Unless you are in a division, clan battles, etc.

Three years ago, me as a low skill cruiser player (I had not idea what a citadel was), I could follow the basic guideline given by players on this forum: watch the BB and only turn if their guns aren't pointed at you or wait until the shoot then turn, etc. I was moving around, with reason, and challenging cap vs DD with considerable success. Cruisers could move openly... with caution..., but as the amount of BBs in every game increased, this ability evaporated. Cruisers became primary targets for focus fire from multiple BBs. Cruiser went stagnant and DD are able to roam at will. Is this desirable? I think WG should address global spotting mechanics.

Is "Concealment" the new "Situational Awareness"?
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Yes. -
WG seems to be saying, according to CCs, that the current spotting tech is not working as they like. Specifically, once a DD is spotted other ships are able to focus fire which is detrimental. They are fine with a cruiser spotting a ship and shooting it, but the amount of income fire from ships not directly detecting a ship is a problem. Isn't this a part, good part, of the reason cruisers tend to stay back, use rocks for cover? Not because some DD will detect them, but because of the concentrated focus fire from all over? Don't some/many BB players point out that when they move forward they become targets of intense focus fire? This issue is directly related to the spotting mechanics which do not require line of sight to target.
-
The current spotting, used in game, is the root of many core problems in this game. Take the ability to lock on to a target and fire from smoke. WG went to great effort to try and fix this issue, to limit what players were able to do, but the missed the point. The problem was never how smoke was used to allow BBs or Cruiser (DDs for that matter) to fire from smoke, but the very fact they could lock on and fire from smoke. Three years ago cruisers could move around and challenge caps, because there were less BBs in game. Now with more BBs and cruisers per game... more firepower, that isn't a viable tactic. Once spotted everyone in range will target you, regardless if they have line of sight. Massive focus fire. How is this the right decision? Why do some BB camp the whole game... the current in game spotting facilitates that.
-
Because WG like to make the wrong choice.

"...Eternal peace is a dream --and not even a beautiful one. War is part of God's world-order. Within it unfold the noblest virtues of men, courage and renunciation, loyalty to duty and readiness for sacrifice--at the hazzard of one's life. Without war the world would sink into a swamp of materialism..." ----------------------------------------------------- The White Feather Campaign began with the creation of the white feather as a symbol of cowardice and unfulfilled civic duty. With the war effort and the recruitment campaign in full swing, the women of the White Feather would present any healthy young Englishman in civilian dress with this token, in order to symbolize their scorn for him and his failure to be man. Upon receipt of a white feather, these men were being told that they weren’t “real men” and that the women around them looked upon this apparent lack of masculinity with disgust. The campaign was meant to make these men question their gender identity and hopefully drive them to enlist in the military so that they could correct this perceived imbalance.

This war was from a different age... one hard for us to understand. How did Britain let 250,000 underage soldiers fight in WW1? Teachers, parents and more But it wasn’t just in recruitment offices. The whole of society seemed to be complicit in sending these boys abroad to fight. Parents, headmasters, even MPs helped get underage lads into the army. BBC

Bad Destroyer (DD) PLayers
Culiacan_Mexico replied to anonym_CsauhrZtDqUP's topic in General Discussion
DDs have many abilities... tank damage isn't one of them. If there is enough fire power to take out a cruiser and two BBs, what are a single DDs chances?- 74 replies

Bad Destroyer (DD) PLayers

The fire power needed to destroy a cruiser and two BBs is fairly significant. What do you believe a single DD can do to stop that?- 74 replies

Destroyers and bad game design
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Colonel_Boom's topic in General Discussion
The average DD lacks the offensive weaponry to directly counter Cruisers, let alone BBs at any tier; as average DD damage is far less than the average BB health pool even if you excluded BB heals. If we can exclude the unicom players, the average DD player that spends their time concentrating on actions that directly countering BBs is under paying their ships significantly. The DD role (there are exceptions) is to enhance the cruisers and battleships on your team in their ability to excel. The rock-paper-scissors mechanics does not exist with relations to your average DD. -

Destroyers and bad game design
Culiacan_Mexico replied to Colonel_Boom's topic in General Discussion
There are many problems, DD vs other classes is nowhere near the main problem. BB vs Cruisers is by far a more serious issue. To put it plainly, BBs counter Cruiser freedom of movement which allows DD to roam/operate at will.
