Straits are fine apart from some occasional bizarre splits like all DDs, or all CAs or all BBs on one side and of course your division being split which is a dumbass thing that can happen on every map. Hot Spot however can be nightmare if you spawn NE and the map needs to be fixed or ditched.

After a 30 day "Special Offer" on flags that ran out today or yesterday, I'm not sure. Today comes a new "Special Offer" of the exact same flags for another 30 days! WG I don't know who runs your marketing department, I suspect nobody or a brainless moron, but please feel free to contact me as this my profession and I'll show you the first one for free and will then show you how to do it so much better for free Premium ships and a chestful of doubloons. You have no monthly plan, a marketing plan or even a strategy as far as I can discern and you are mugging your customers rather than selling to them.

The point was, if you offer something as a "time limited special offer" and then when the time expires you immediately offer the same "time limited special offer" then it is neither time limited nor special. It is de facto a normal shop item that is on permanent sale at a set and regular price. For those who want to buy flags then calling it "special and time limited" was an enticement to buy more and buy quickly before the offer ended when in fact they could have bought less and at their leisure, which in effect was duping them.

I had my first draw in weeks last night and was somewhat taken aback by it as it seems to be a rarity now since the last patch and the introduction of the two cap mode. I think the OP just had an extreme outlier case.

OP has a point! I went too near a smoke screen and my eyes were watering and stinging for hours afterwards leaving me unable to focus. Nerf it or equip captains with suitable goggles!

Question, how do you filter out wife/partner/GF and kids from your gameplay whilst still employing them as useful if occasional runners for beers?

I've just received a reply to my latest ticket regarding a TK'er, which included an interesting statement that TK'ers and I guess other aspects of gameplay covered by the ingame report function will no longer be handled by humans, but by bots (read program) instead. With regard to TK'ers I've always submitted a ticket as I always got a response, unlike the ingame report function, and I felt that the problem was acknowledged and that staff who had to deal with it would soon get as pissed off with TKers as players do when they have to deal with reports about them every day. Anyhow this now appears to be changing and the process will be automated by some logarithm. It gives no details of its parameters in fact it gives barely any details at all. I remain skeptical about a program being able to do this satisfactorily, but I'm open to be swayed on the issue if WG give some monthly feedback on its performance and actions taken and if there is a perceivable decline not just in TKing, but other unwanted behaviour. I'd guess they are being swamped more by reports of "Plays Poorly" and trying to discern what that actually meant than being swamped by TK reports. I just wish they would give more detail on how it's supposed to work. Something like this would have been an ideal "beta" candidate feature to test, but alas.

Problem SOLVED Reinstalled the game and all the badness went away so I'll never know what caused it, but my thanks to all who helped.

All of a sudden my game has a strange graphics glitch anomaly, the sea has developed stripes, and I can't figure out why. Drivers are up to date, have tried settings maxed (my usual setting) and settings minimal, unloaded all mods, but it remains. Has anyone any clue what is happening or even better a solution?

Will give that a try before game reinstall and report back later. Now I really must finish some stuff for work before I get bollocked.

Well it helps for teamplay, but then again I guess you won't feel offended when they flame you in Russian for not doing what they asked you to do. Expect the ping to be between 50-100. That's what I've experienced being on a few ArmA3 and DayZ Russian servers.

It was there before the Warspite tuurned up and the PC has been rebooted about 45 minutes ago for a Windows update so it's not that either.

Did have a few from Aslain's pack, but everything was fine till this morning. Taken all mods out and no change. Have checked a lot of my other games and there's nothing wrong with them. I'm at a loss as to what the problem is. Will give this thread an hour or so and then do a game reinstall and see if that fixes it.

Well I had pretty much anticipated that kind of reply in my head except mine was a message in the matrix. Thank you for the chortle at least.

At least then the advertisers would crack their whip and make WG sharpen up their code so that everybody loads on time every time.

I suppose in real life somebody would have binoculars and could assess how badly damaged another ship was, but yes, not as accurately as it does ingame.
