Fair point, but who doesn't at least smile when they see a Ferrari driven into a wall?

Okey seriously im pink after 1 accident
Sybeck replied to Shizzlesticksz's topic in General Discussion
You get "Karma" points which show up on your captain's profile page "Profile>Service Record> and there will be a number next to your name. Positive report and you get +1 and a negative report drops it by one, but it can never go below 0 I think so you'll never spot a truly bad player or tell the difference between them and somebody that nobody has bothered to compliment even if they won a battle single-handedly. And your English is good enough to understand. -

You say it's punishment I say it's a heads up notice for his side in his next match that this player might do something stupid so be aware when he's around you. What surprises me is that all the players who think they are l337 aren't demanding a special colour for themselves. -
Like the Royal Navy then...?

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Sybeck replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
I lost all my karma 2 days ago. I was only starting with 9 so no big deal, but a friend and I had been playing together in T7 BBs at his house when he decides between battles to check through his ships to see if there is another ship he wants to advance. Anyway he decides there isn't and hits enter battle. Only when we enter the load screen does he realise that he had left his port selection on a T2 Dresden! He's screaming at his screen, I'm screaming at him and both of us are already imagining the chat and hate that must already be brewing so in an act of stupid desperation he reaches down and pulls out the plug from the router!!! I'm going nuts at him telling him that I could have least played on and that he should have too and just took the hate while explaining what happened. But no, he was so angry at himself that he said was ragequitting and that he wasn't turning the router back on and that I had better come with down to the pub for a chill down drink. Needless to say when I got home later and went and checked my karma there it was back at a big fat zero meaning that everyone bar one player in that match reported me. So my apologies to anybody in that match, but it was out of my control -
I think he means his own dead/dying team members griefing/trolling by calling out his position to the enemy in global chat. For example, "Hey enemy, our CV is behind island at A5". Well, my best guess at what I think he means anyway.

Has the new TK rule gone from one extreme to the other?
Sybeck replied to simonmd's topic in Archive
Absolutely with you 100% on that. -
Has the new TK rule gone from one extreme to the other?
Sybeck replied to simonmd's topic in Archive
Surely the opposite? Now bad players who can ruin your game, as well as deliberate TK'ers are having their sins exposed. Before I would have no idea that the DD sat alongside me or behind me didn't really care who was around when they fired torps at an enemy. Now I do, and to be forewarned is to be forearmed and I can keep well away from the guy whether they are an actual TK'er or an ill disciplined fool. Now, the accidental idiots will know there is a price to pay for their lack of awareness. Of course there will be rare unjustified exceptions along the way, but the balance is much fairer and more useful to players now than previously IMHO. -
You would think that they could have gone behind the island first! Or the birth of a new meme - "2 Ships 1 Torpedo"

To the OP: Are you able to name a PvP MMO game where if you join a randomly selected team event you won't have to deal with players of differing skill levels or any of the non-specific to WoWs team mechanic problems? Off hand I'm struggling to think of one. It does what it says on the label; it hooks you up with a random set of people with roughly the same tools and sometimes, as you say, and I agree, you just have to hope that you're on the least bad side. However, did you ever try ranked battles or team battles where in the former you might expect a more knowledgeable player and in the latter a team who you could rely on? One of things it appeared to me that you were arguing for was a higher quality of "random", which of course is nonsensical and I don't know how you would address that unless you went down the ranked/team battle path that WG have. As regards fun then I will honestly say that for whatever reason this one of the most fun games I've played. I've just recently returned after a few months out and liked nearly all the improvements that had been made. I am neither a highly skilled/successful player nor a bad one and I've shared the same frustration as you over poor players and bad decision makers, but that is no different than say playing a random World of Warcraft battleground and seeing people do the most stupid things at most inopportune time while you and few others know the tactics, your classes and how to fight and no matter how well you play, you just can't carry the team. So I'm sorry to disagree, but I enjoy the game, win or lose however frustrating the "random" teamplay can be at times along with the RNG because if it is random then it will play in your favour just as many times as it doesn't. And, as the player base continues to play then more and more "poor" players will reach Tier 10 even on their losses so the future is, as elsewhere in other games; enter ranked matches or team up with like-minded and like-skilled people.

How does misfiring = badly aiming and shooting at a target with an ally right next to it?

Torpedo soup - why it exist and what can be done
Sybeck replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Oh noes, you mean they might have to go scout, capture bases, provide smoke cover and spam HE from inside smoke, hunt down other DDs and CVs instead if they decide to fire all their torpedoes in the first 5 minutes? Plus, I didn't say how many torps they should be restricted to did I? And regardless of all that I merely mentioned that it was an option that wasn't listed by the OP and as a final thought, I doubt any real life BB or CA would run out of ammo in a 20 minute battle.- 165 replies

You forgot another option. A set amount of torpedoes per DD. That would certainly cut the spam and spray and pray merchants. How many for each tier DD I wouldn't dare to suggest, but a quick Google found that a Fletcher only carried 10.- 165 replies

Having recently returned to the game after several months off I was surprised to see so many pinks around in T3-T5 matches (3 on our side in one match!) until I checked forums and posts and saw the changes that had been made, which I totally support. So I understand why there is a preponderance of pinkies in the T3 to T5 range; it's all on the learning curve. However, it's nearly always a DD or CV player who is a pinkie and I think we know why. DDs don't fire torps with allies in front of you, you cannot predict them not turning into your torps and CV players don't fire torps at ships with allies just the other side of the enemy ship. I would say though that I can't help childishly snickering when I think of a pink torpedo.

I want to agree and disagree with every post here nearly. My own personal experience is that if you are against a well skilled CV player then you're going to take a lot of damage and there's not a lot you can do to mitigate against their skill. I can usually tell when the CV player is good if they have two squads of TB bombers approaching me, one at 10 o'clock and the other from 2 o'clock. That way no direction is safe to turn in to and from what I know, and have seen, the CV player doesn't want a clean broadside, but an angle so that as many torpedoes as possible (if not all) will hit, and a 100% hit rate is pretty impossible to achieve with a straight on broadside. Saying that though, the advice to avoid the planes rather than the torpedoes will save you nearly 90% of the time and at least give your AA some chance to shoot down or disrupt the run and help you avoid significant damage from less skilled players of which there are still a lot. However as people point out, the very act of turning can expose your broadside to an equally damaging broadside salvo from an enemy ship(s) and in addition force you to take your guns off them or another target. Other things that help are making sure that good AA cruisers escort BBs, nothing more scarier than a Cleveland I imagine protecting your target and even asking your CV captain for some fighter protection, but don't hold your breath waiting on that one as you'll likely be told that they have 99 problems and you ain't one of them. I did once suggest that torpedoes should be subjected to some RNG, as are shells, either by not all dropping in an evenly spaced and aligned line, because a perfectly even spaced and aligned spread is totally unrealistic and/or throwing in the occasional dud torpedo or most fun of all a haywire one that goes off in a completely random direction due to malfunction. And finally I will add, that I'm noticing ingame and on YT and Twitch CV players consistently taking out DDs with torpedo runs and doing it really easily. This was something I hadn't noticed in the past maybe because either CV players thought it was too difficult to attempt or because DD players could easily avoid any torpedo run. However, to me it seems really commonplace nowadays, but that's just my own personal observation and may not be shared by others.

Once again to echo others here, thanks and a fantastic job on getting these mod updates out so quick. And to reiterate what some have said already too, Display DMG Done Counter is working for me, but Training Room has disappeared off the battle dropdown menu.

Clean uninstall and reinstall of the game with no mods installed and the game was fine, no problems whatsoever over three matches. Will play without mods for 25 games or so and then slowly add in my favourite mods and see what happens. So all I can say atm is that doing the clean uninstall and reinstall with NO mods worked for me, YMMV and if so I feel for you, this game can get infuriatingly glitchy.

Just to add my two pennies worth. Returned to game after a break and updating OS to Win 10, downloaded all the updates hit play and immediately crashed. Tried another 4 times with the same result. Have done a clean uninstall and am reinstalling as I type and will play with no mods and update this post later.

Saw a Tirpitz the other day that was actually hiding behind an island and then peeking out to launch torps before withdrawing back. He was providing good lols for everybody until our CV player had had enough and pinned his dead hull against the island with properly used torpedoes.

So what's your longest losing streak in the game?
Sybeck replied to piritskenyer's topic in General Discussion
It's one of the options in Aslain's Modpack http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/25508-mod0501-aslains-wows-modpack-installer-wpicture-preview-v105-05092015/ -
I'd like to buy a "Sense of Entitlement" please! Seems like a lot of people here already have one so I would like the opportunity to own one too, but please don't bundle it with a "Sense of Decorum". I really don't want that crap as I have no use for it.

Too early to judge and too selective to just concentrate on tiers IX and X. At the moment these could still be the players who have grinded the fastest rather than the best players. As somebody has previously said, give me 6 months to a year's data across all tiers and I'd be happier to draw conclusions.

I like the solution that somebody else posted in a similar thread that another game does. Basically anybody who is anti-social, whether it's a TKer or a racist in chat for example can only play with likes of themselves for a week. Any repeat offending or infringement in that time keeps them there another week. Get their mac address though so they don't simply setup a new account and they would have to play a set amount of time in that week's isolation. If they want to come back and play then they will just have to sit there and suffer while some guy who doesn't give a crap TK's them or flames them during the week and then, maybe then, they'll understand why their fucktardary pisses everybody off.
-
Seems to me from all the arguments in this thread that players would have a lot more advantage using an automated random wiggle mod. Give it a few months I guess and it'll turn up.

Voted no because some type of chat is required for effective communication and I can't believe that you have had to mute 5000+ people! You are either very sensitive or WoT is very toxic....oh wait.
