Full price Marceau or Lutjens?
Paddington01 replied to Godlyuniverse_1's topic in General Discussion
Is this commander coupon an urban myth or......... I'm saving up for Lütjens as a German secondary fanatic and would be pretty miffed if I'm gonna spend an extra 40k coal for nothing -

Paddington01 replied to Koksownik's topic in Clan Recruitment
Hello! I'd be interested to join your clan! I'm looking for a casual clan with the occasional clan battle, which your clan seems to be! Currently still in the 3 day waiting period after leaving my previous inactive clan... Edit: Nvm, got invited to another clan ingame. Sorry! -
Could you share any further information you have? Would this mean that the Mogami and Ibuki could potentially be buffed? Thanks for any info!

Mogami has far more serious problems than the odd detection ranges after the 0.5.3 patch. The 155s will be rendered extremely impractical by both the short range (15km) along with the turret traverse time (50+ s). This leaves the Mogami with the 203mm option, which isn't much of an upgrade over the Myoko. I really hope WG buffs the Mogami instead of nerfing the Myoko.

Thank you, oh great saviour!! Finally the myth has been dispelled! Great communication from WG staff!

Is it worth getting the North Carolina?
Paddington01 replied to Captain_Riley's topic in Battleships
Whether playing a BB at all is worth it will depend on how the AP shell fix turns out. Right now, BB AP shells do pathetic damage to cruisers, which takes away a lot of the fun in my opinion. If WG decides that BB shells should continue over penetrating on a regular basis, that'd really suck for BBs. As for North Carolina, I personally didn't like the ship very much, even pre 0.5.1. Three main weaknesses I find to be frustrating: 1. The shell velocity is ridiculously slow. Probably slower than most cruisers, which forces you to lead exceedingly much for a battleship. 2. Shell dispersion isn't fantastic either. I didn't notice the shell dispersion on the Colorado, as it still has good shell velocity, but with the North Carolina, your shells just tend to float in mid air and spread out. 3. The turret angles are quite unpractical. If you don't want to get citadeled, you're confined to 6 main guns as you have to show your broadside to use the hind guns. The tactic of swinging around, firing a broadside, and swinging back doesn't work anymore. It does have a few good points, however: 1. Good AA. You rarely have to worry about CV attacks unless the CV is Tier 8+ 2. Good speed. For the first time, you can decide to pull out of an engagement when you want to. Also, getting to the combat zone faster helps. Overall, I think the disadvantages of the ship outweigh the advantages. On a BB, I value the guns the most and the North Carolina doesn't deliver. -
I'm probably one of the few to have this opinion.... I actually liked the Colorado a lot better than the North Carolina. With the Colorado, you have great armour, capable of bouncing every shell you're gonna face, along with good guns. The guns don't have fantastic accuracy, but they have decent shell velocity. When I got the North Carolina, I expected a Colorado, but faster. And boy was I disappointed. NC's armour only works if you point your bow towards the enemy, which then limits your firepower to 6 guns. This type of limited firepower would still be formidable if they could hit anything to begin with. I now present you the biggest flaw on the North Carolina; Its guns. They have 21 km range, stock, but don't let that fool you. The shell velocity and dispersion restricts your effective range to around 15km. Anything beyond that only gets you overpenetrations or misses. Even within the 15 km, the shell dispersion has me pulling my hair out. I see a cruiser at 10km, oblivious of my 9 guns pointed at him, and I fire. A perfect shot, aimed at the waterline with perfect lead, results in a few overpenetrations for little to no damage and maybe 1 penetration. The shells fly everywhere and end up 50m short, 50m too far etc. The point is, this ship is too effing RNG dependent. You have to aim, go to the temple of RNJesus and give him offerings, pray 10 times, then fire. On paper, the NC shouldn't have worse dispersion than the Colorado, but I suppose it is the combination of the horrid shell velocity (worse than many cruisers) that breaks the ship (And its inability to mount the accuracy module doesn't help... Just another wtf move by WG). The North Carolina should be renamed the Dice ship. Because when you play it, you might as well be rolling a dice..... At least the North Carolina has superb AA. But then again, the Colorado has this as well..... I've personally abandoned the USN line at the North Carolina. In a battleship, I value the accuracy the most. And the NC simply fails in this aspect. The Iowa is supposedly just as inaccurate, but at least she's got the shell velocity fixed. Anyhow, I've now moved onto the IJN BB line. The Amagi is plain unfair when compared to the NC. Pinpoint accuracy = Aim and delete.
