Does anyone have any advice for which premium to buy?

no idea on the Arky to be honest... as for clans, there's all kinds out there, everything from hardcore competitive to "I just want to have a clantag but otherwise couldn't care less" - you just need to find the one that's right for you. Best place to find one that suits you is the relevant forum section

depends on how they're feeling, really - some of those codes are a lot bigger. Like, Tirpitz level big. Absolutely no guarantee that's going to happen, so please dont get excited now because I said this, but it's possible.

that is a very real possibility, actually. When WG does these things, there's quite often the odd bonus code to be had...

sort of what we've been mostly saying, isn't it? Between the Arkansas and the Texas, you've got a decent setup of premiums to practice BB gameplay with, and unless you really mess up you can also make some profits in regular ships around that tier. If I recall correctly, your coupon gives you a flat huge lump sum of Dubloons, right? If so, there's nothing (well, except human nature wanting the shiny things I suppose) forcing you to spend it all in one go. That's sort of the beauty of dubloons. You can get a chunk now, maybe spend some of it on a decent T4-6 premium cruiser since you said you currently enjoy cruiser gameplay. And then just keep the rest of it for later. I can understand your "if I have premium time I feel like I have to play" standpoint - but dubloons allow you to turn that around. When you know that you'll have a relaxed weekend with a good few hours free to play Warships, you can just throw a few dubloons out and get Premium time running for those specific days, without "wasting" any extra time.

the most? no offense, but no you definitely can't, at least not at this point. However, german BBs are relatively forgiving thanks to their turtleback armour, so you should be able to get something out of her - you'll just have to adapt quite a bit, because the Shiney Horse is anything but a traditional BB. Picking your engagements and targets is crucial, and that just comes with experience. As time goes on and you improve, you'll also be able to make the Scharnhorst perform better and better for you. Whether you want to buy the Scharnhorst right now, likely perform rather poorly at first but have the potential for a fantastic and very unique ship later on, or whether you want to go for a more traditional, "safe" option in Warspite or Arizona where you already know what you're getting because they're so similar to the silver ships is up to you.

I've said this several times already. Your ship does not matter nearly as much as how well you do in it. On an equally good performance, yes the Scharnhorst will make more than an Arky or Texas - but especially the Arkansas with its protected T4 matchmaking is much much easier to do reasonably well in. It's your skill that decides your earnings, not your ship. And yeah, one would almost think that might have somethign to do with cruisers as a class just not being all that great, especially for newer players, outside a few completely idiotic outliers like Belfast and Kutuzov that WG (hopefully) will never sell again...

Scharnhorst, useless? lolnope it aint, just isnt quite as one-dimensional to play as the average BB...

    Superstitions and Ships / Loadouts?

well, its a good thing that neither of those actually exist then! How about Hotel Yankee and Juliet Charlie? Are those koscher to you? I used to swear that my Tirpitz couldnt hit anything without the accuracy mod - felt like that had way more of an impact on that specific ship than it had any right to...

Scharnhorst punishes cruisers that make mistakes (i.e. present broadsides) but isnt terribly effective if the enemy is smart doesnt do much against BBs long range but is a massive threat up close is probably better against DDs than most due to good speed, quick reload and torps for the occasional hilarious moment - but you're still a BB, so in a 1v1 you need to hope for the other guy to really mess up the ships havent - especially the low tier BBs, where it's just "drive around and blap stuff" anyway without much more to it. Not much need for a guide either, they're very similar to their respective silver counterparts anyway. Sims is a bit of a different situation because the game itself has changed quite a bit, between new lines and mechanics changes. So for that one you should probably look for an up to date guide.

it's actually got better rotation than both the NewMex and Kongo that you're familiar with these days - the super slow turrets were buffed a while ago

maneuvering while fighting is a good thing in and of itself - makes you a lot harder to hit. You just have to be a bit more careful about when, how and where you do it - last thing you want to do is present broadsides. Always try to point eitehr towards or away from the enemy and wiggle your butt around from there, helps immensely with avoiding citadels. ah, that's actually a relatively easy fix with the interface. Go into your settings, then under Interface you should find a checkbox for "Show Team Panels" (or something similar, dont remember the exact name and cant check right now). That'll give you two panels in the top right and left hand corner respectively that will show you who's still alive. Although, again, you shouldn't even need those - use your minimap. In case you didnt know, hold ctrl ingame to get a mouse cursor, and then there's a little cogwheel above the minimap, click on that to get a few options for your minimap. Feel free to try out which of those features you personally find useful. Concealment circle, last known position and ship name should be must-haves, at least in my opinion. Good policy when in a cruiser is to simply always assume that that enemy BB is aimed, loaded and just waiting to nuke you unless you are absolutely certain that he isnt. Or, even more generally and unrealistically, just dont give broadside, ever

oh boy... time to put my money where my mouth is then. Warning: the following is going to be pretty harsh, but I figure you better hear it as it is... Short version: You play like a headless chicken. No situational awareness, no idea about positioning, no idea about angling or even just dodging, you just flail around the map wildly and randomly. I dont even know whether you had a single captain skill active there - certainly none of the useful ones... Absolute must-haves: Priority Target (tells you how many enemies are looking at you so you can decide whether it's safe or suicidal to turn), and Concealment Expert (mandatory on just about any cruiser in the game, but especially on something like the New Orleans that can get to a very decent concealment value and use that to throw its AP into unsuspecting broadsides). Get those ASAP, no discussion. The only reason you ended up doing decent damage there was a combination of hilariously incompetent enemy Warspites (they should have oneshot you about five different times with the way you drove around broadside in front of them), and crazy lucky RNG giving you fires exactly when you needed them. Early on you push right next to the cap, and then turn broadside to the enemy spawn - that more often than not ends up with you getting oneshot, but none of the enemy BBs shot you. Lucky. You could easily have been dead. Next, you do some maneuvering, fire off a few shots (you should really try to shoot AP at broadside cruisers by the way - works wonders with USN heavy cruisers...), and then decide to push back into the cap, right under the guns of not one but TWO Warspites that you knew for a good long while were there. And you dont only push into the cap - no, you casually turn maximum broadside to both of them. That you survived that is about as hilarious as it is pathetic of these Warspites. You should have died during that maneuver, and not just once but about three times. After you somehow survive that, you continue to sort of randomly sail around giving broadside to the two Warspites (should've died at least one additional time there...), have a chance at a decent ambush shot on the enemy Duca (at least you loaded AP here!) that you unfortunately completely misaim (otherwise your shooting wasnt bad tho!), and then you apparently completely and utterly tunnelvision on an already dead Warspite and dont even notice that the enemy Scharnhorst has just nuked you from pretty close range. But no, you merrily keep sailing straight and flat broadside to him, ignore his existence and get disposed of by him. Things to take away from that: Get a proper captain. So many things become easier and more effective, especially on a squishy cruiser like the NO... Stop giving broadside to every enemy BB in existence. Stop sailing around in the open inviting them to shoot you. Learn to angle, learn to dodge, learn to use your concealment, learn to use islands to limit the amount of enemies that can shoot you. Put your minimap at max size and look at it constantly. Use it to evaluate your position, see where you might get shot from. Use it to spot opportunities for punishing AP shots. Use it to not be completely blindsided by an enemy Scharnhorst that was constantly spotted for ten minutes and still manages to surprise broadside nuke you from 8km away. Dare to shut the hell up when things get hot. Learn when it's better to disengage and come back later.

Separate front and aft guns lock

out of all the "REEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'm gonna uninstall this trash game" rants we've had over the years, this one has to take the cake for most hilariously inconsequential reason ever... well, good thing he noticed it at sub-200 matches played I guess

Sunray Hard Mode - whats the difference exactly?

played a few as well, did feel like a nice challenge but it's been too long since we had that last year that I could be certain about what the differences were (or whether there were any in the first place)... Will become much easier to judge towards the end of the week when we get the normal mode back so we can compare directly I guess

Does anyone have any advice for which premium to buy?

I wouldnt use those result summary screens for any kind of comparison between ships - I can pretty much produce any amount between 300k and 1m on a decent match for you just by varying which camo and flags I run... as long as the screenshot isnt of the actual income screen with the credits tab expanded, it's worthless for comparison, and even then you'd want every other result screen as well to really judge. Again, your ship doesn't decide your income - your performance, together with the bonuses you run, have a much larger impact.
  19. I'd be interested in how well known he is among actual Hockey fans over here in Europe - would it be an idea to restructure the poll to: 1. Not a Hockey fan, have heard of him 2. Hockey fan, have heard of him 3. Not a Hockey fan, haven not heard of him 4. Hockey fan, have not heard of him Because whether one is into the sport or not does make quite a big difference in weighing the responses in my opinion...

Does anyone have any advice for which premium to buy?

no offense, but your "Sniper Bismarck, no modules" bit did go a long way towards giving that impression... Now that you've actually responded a few times here and demonstrated you're willing to listen to advice, I think we're past that stage (might still get the occasional guy that doesnt read the thread and just responds to laugh at the first post ofc, but that's the internet for you) and onto constructive discussion and trying to help you Speaking of which, on to some actual content...^^ Sims is a very good ship and credit earner if you can handle her well - which does require quite a bit of experience with DDs and general game knowledge though, she's not the easiest ship to do well in. Another suggestion would be the Arizona - you already have a good bit of New Mexico experience so you know what you'd get, she's a solid allround performer (slightly better accuracy than NewMex but worse penetration on the AP shells iirc) and at a tier where you should still be somewhat comfortable. Probably more forgiving than Warspite as well, 12 shells just tend to hit more than 8 and the armour is also a bit more solid. Very very slow though, but you know how that feels from the NewMex.

Does anyone have any advice for which premium to buy?

best thing you can do for your income is to spend those dubloons on a premium account anyway - half a year of premium will do sooooooo much more for you than a T8 premium that you'd get abysmal results in anyway because you simply dont ahve the experience to handle it yet. Income scales much more with how well you do than with what the ship is. So, get premium account, and go back and start a few other lines so you can get better at the game without getting completely destroyed by T10s all the time.

Does anyone have any advice for which premium to buy?

no you're not. You're really really really not. Stay away from T8 until you actually know what you're doing - much better for you, your income and all of your teammates. Scharnhorst is a decent suggestion, if you can grow the balls to not be a sniping BB.

...what kind of answer do you expect from us, since we dont know what ships and builds you have? one thing you can probably do if you have enough active people in your clan to get a team of seven people is try out Sunray in the Darkness Hardmode (or wait for the normal version to unlock next week) and play secondary spec Magnu-S. That should give you several hundred hits per round if you dont completely mess up somehow
  24. this was about the ships, not the players in them (since that player would actually be you no matter what)
  25. ran into good ol' SCRUBlord @MortenTardo earlier today - wasnt that great a match for our team, since all three of our top tier BBs thought the map border was a terribly cuddly place to be, but at least seeing a familiar name is always nice
