we get a lot of pretty hilariously idiotic "proposed solutions", but yours arent unreasonable. Colour me surprised... Not sure they'd really solve the issues you mention, but they're also not all that outlandish...

in that case, you check whether it's Domination or Standard Battle. If it's Domination, you (and your team) pretty much say "well crap", have a hearty sigh at the matchmaker for giving one team more DDs than the other, and you try to do the speedboating spot/spam thing as best you can. No point going to a cap alone, that'd just get you killed. If it's Standard Battle, you basically do the above except without the sighing part, since contesting caps isnt a thing that needs to be done. If you dont have a friendly DD to support, you cant really do much except do your own thing, play to your strengths, hope the enemy DD effs up and gets himself killed (maybe by your radars) or runs into you (which should also lead to a dead enemy DD). As for the game result you mention in your OP - that's pretty much fire RNG for you. IFHE wouldn't have mattered one bit against a Repu, not a must-have pick on the Kiev (although it does have its uses against cruisers and lower-tier BBs). If you dont get the fires on a BB, you're not doing all that much damage to him with HE (although it does kinda sound like you maybe need to work on your aim a little - go for the superstructure, there you will actually get penetrations). Do keep in mind though - if you get a broadside, your AP is actually pretty scary too, if you aim it well (i.e. dont hit the belt).

only problem with that is, Kamikaze is a thing that exists... not like that would have any trouble against T8 BBs (or hell, even against T8 DDs as long as you have the brain to avoid getting caught)...

gee, I totally could not have guessed that... That's also your problem. Play other classes. See things from their perspective, get nuked BBs constantly and maybe you will realize just how silly your complaints are. Doing so will also make you a better BB player by the way - knowing what your opponents can and can't do because you've been in their position is very valuable.

How to improve, you ask? Go back and play the tiers that you should be playing, Clemson for example, and stop ruining high tier matches for your teammates until you've got some actual experience. Bayern shells already feel like pathetic marshmellows when fired at BBs, and this thing is just much worse... I mean, sure, it's not gonna matter against most cruisers, but still. No thanks. Also, which are those "some stronger BBs" that PEF is "not much worse" than? Fuso? 100mm more pen at 15km. Normandie? +60mm at 15. NewMex? Plus 130mm. One Hundred And Thirty. hell, you can barely even contest a Kongo belt at 15km even if it were to hit it 100% flat, which is literally impossible because your shells will be coming down at an angle. Let alone actual battleships, or ships at your own tier, or the T8s that you're going to meet all the time. There are, as far as I can see, precisely two T6 Battleship that have worse pen at 15km than the Eitel Friedrich has at 10km. One of them is the Queen Elizabeth (which may as well just fire HE against well-armoured targets at longer range), the other is the Bayern (which already has really pathetic guns). And Warspite just about matches the PEF in that comparison, but gets the overmatch and accuracy. And it's not like these guns had any other quality left to make up for that - rate of fire's the same as Fuso, accuracy is german, AP Alpha is unimpressive... Sorry, I really really don't see it for this ship... not at T6...

not arguing with the looks. But consider this. These guns are among the worst of all battleships above Tier 3 when it comes to penetration - Orion/ID are slightly worse (which doesnt matter because lol HE), so is Kaiser, Courbet is a sad sad joke, but other than that every single other battleship has equal or better pen, even the 12" equipped König and Wyoming. And PEF can#t even meet half the ships I just mentioned. What is this ship doing at the same tier as a Fuso? At this point, remove the modernized AA (should even make some of the purists happy) and put it at T5 and you've got a ship that fits in somewhat... still a pretty much straight up worse Kongo and doesnt offer much over König except 4kts of speed, but at least it's not completely ridiculous...

I really can't help but wonder what possible (performance related) reason there's supposed to be to play this ship after this. I mean, the idiotic concealment had to go, no question about it - but now it's simply not good, or even decent, at anything except its long-range AA... why would I want to play that? Typical WG balancing department sledgehammer stupidity at work...

not really, no. The winrate difference (which, together with Leningrad having better average baseline, also accounts for the PR) is pretty inconsequential at those sample sized (lose ten out of the next fifteen and you've mostly closed the gap), and you actually do slightly more damage in the Lenin...

T10 BBs do take quite a lot of getting used to, fat slugs that they are That said, no point in going through that experience gathering phase right now if you're not having fun doing it. You can always keep the ships (selling would be a massive waste of credits), play something else for a while (as someone already said, other classes! the fresh perspective really helps!), and try another dozen or so games at T10 in a month or three whenever you feel like it.

Cruisers are food because Battleships exist. Especially at T5 where almost every cruiser has a gigantic citadel and no armour. There are a few more, but yes Grem and Kamikaze (with its clones) invalidate every single T5 silver DD. Either one of them would, and there's two of them. Giulio Cesare is the ship you're looking for - another T5 premium that had to be straight up massively better than its silver counterparts so it would sell in the face of dreadful T5 matchmaking. Although personally, unlike good mister @Saiyko I wouldnt put it anywhere near Grem/Kamikaze levels of hilariously overpowered.

CBs have been T10 so far, and I havent heard anything about that changing anytime soon. Endgame content and that. Although there's absolutely nothing stopping anyone from organizing their own custom battles with any ruleset they want - that's what Training Rooms are for, after all. I bet there are clans out there that would be willing and able to get organized battles at, say, T6 rolling occasionally.
