Arsenal - Option to buy multiple "packs" of signals and camos rather than just single please!
Tyrendian89 replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
one of half a million epic usability fails in the interface... and WG doesnt seem to care one bit, at least they happily keep adding more and more of these instead of fixing at least some of the more glaring ones... -
you do probably need some form of either time limit or points, to force engagements and prevent griefing (it's not like a NewMex had a snowball's chance in hell of finding a DD that doesnt want to be found, so he could just drag the match out into infinity if he feels like it...), but other than that, could be interesting

sorry, but why would I ever want to play a Gearing? As a torp boat, she's vastly overshadowed by either YueYang (max range 16.5km torps are questionable at best, YueYang deepwater fishes are just soooo much better) or Fletcher (which is just a better hull to mount the 10.5km torps on). And hell, if you want to take the 10.5km torps, personally I'd actually take the Z52 - pretty much same torpedo DPM, but the much shorter reload is nice. As a cap contester, she loses to pretty much anything at T10 that isnt stupid or a Shima (and YueYang's sort of a draw there I guess, cute little armour belt for Gearing versus slightly better concealment on YY). As a hunter, sure she's got great DPM up close - but she doesnt have the speed, and loses effectiveness veeeeery quickly if the enemy is smart enough to kite you. And utility? Eh... USN smokes are neat, sure, but again I'd much rather have the Fletcher for that because she's more nimble, and smoking up a teammate isnt what it used to be either. And DefAA? Grozovoi says hi, even if there were enough CVs for this to be relevant in the first place... Which, overall, just leaves the Gearing mediocre at best in every category for me, and that just doesnt work at T10 where every other ship is completely batshit insane at at least one thing... I think you won't claim that I have no idea how to play the Gearing, I am by no means perfect but I do vaguely know what I'm doing in high tier DDs... I just dont see any reason to play the thing right now. Who knows, maybe the CV rework will give her a role again by making her the premier AA DD!

From Reddit (interesting side effect from "fix" regarding AP): On the PTS you can sink a Yamato solely by shooting a single secondary turret with Harugumo AP

...meanwhile on the live server... https://imgur.com/a/GjR6aRf takes about double the amount of shells, but otherwise possible -
still more of a valuable contribution to the forums than your last half year combined...

to be fair, the average shima player that you get on your team IS a massive liability, but a well played Shima (rare as it is) can still do some decent work - I'd definitely rate it over the Gearing (but then again, I'd rate pretty much every T9 DD over the Gearing as well because of how slow and fat that thing is without having any redeeming factors...)
-
nah I think that's really just down to your choice of head attire...
-
uh, no. That is not even a claim, that is straight truth. Those guns are Battleship caliber. No idea what would make you think otherwise...
-
Can't really say much about Kagero and Yugumo these days (been way too long since I played them), but imho the Shima is fine as it is right now. Is it the strongest T10 DD? No, I'd put it towards the lower end of the raw power spectrum, but it has a role, it has a few perks that make it somewhat interesting/unique (best concealment, decent speed, and ridiculous torp carpets). A ship doesn't need to be the strongest to be fine.

true, I sort of hadnt thought about the post-match detailed results... -
Boring endless grind stages for Cossack
Tyrendian89 replied to Praetorias's topic in General Discussion
this, pretty much. The tasks do require a decent chunk of time investment, that's true, but most of them will just happen very naturally while playing (some might nudge you towards playing specific ships, like the secondary hits or cap/reset ones, but thats about it). -
Musashi or Kronshtadt with free XP?

I dearly wish I knew... been sitting on loads of Steel waiting for that info (not interested in Stalingrad in the slightest...)^^ -
[NA] LittleWhiteMouse - testing the penetration changes to torpedo bulges
Tyrendian89 replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
yup, but in the vast majority of cases, just from looking ingame you can't be sure that you only hit two shells - it it's a mid to long range salvo, and I get 12k damage, the I'll just assume that I hit the right amount of shells to get that damage even if it looked different from my perspective. Much easier to just assume the shells ingame were rendered slightly off (and/or desync came into play on the rendering) and apply some suspension of disbelief to that, than to see the game presenting two or even three completely contradictory sets of information about the same event to you... quite possible - we'll probably never know for sure -

honestly... for me, it was always the Detailed Ribbons that were the problem, because they quite often showed something completely disconnected from what was happening on the rest of the screen. Whether it's "zero damage pens", or the infamous "single overpen does 10k damage" idiocy, the problem was with the Ribbons (well, except BBs getting excessive AP damage against DDs - that really was a big balancing issue). So, why didnt WG just fix the damn Ribbons to reflect what was actually happening damage wise? That would have eliminated (most of) the complaints without the need to screw over lots and lots of ships... -

uh... probably neither, at least until we know what WG's gonna do with Jean Bart, Alaska and Bourgogne? -
halloween Submarines! Submarines everywhere!
Tyrendian89 replied to Tuccy's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. It's not boring because it lacks challenge (which it does, but so do many of the other Ops), it's boring because the subs are just plain boring to play. (to me of course, glad for everyone who's actually enjoying themselves! ) -
I guess you'll have to serve as our "medium" to talk to poor ol' @wilkatis_LV now... so please pass on his answer from the netherworld? this is from a training room right? If so, when I tested these things a year ago (mainly trying to work out when and how these multi-hits happened), I never managed to get a single one, no matter what combination of gun and target, in a training room (obviously happened in randoms all the time). My working theory at the time was that a Training Room has to deal with way less traffic, since it's only concerned with sending stuff from you to the server and back, as opposed to Randoms exchanging stuff between twenty-four players and the server all at the same time...

Let's do this in reverse - what's the WORST ship for the Ranked Sprints?
Tyrendian89 posted a topic in General Discussion
Just curious what you think the worst choice would be - we ask about the best one all the time, thought I'd turn that around^^ I left out some of the obviously strong ships so I could fit things into the 20 option limit - cases like the Kamikaze, which is a straight up better version of the Minekaze in all respects, or Murmansk being a better Omaha. Feel free to shout at me if I left something out that you really think is the worst choice (I might just have been an idiot and forgotten a ship entirely...)! -
Mountain Range map and Camping
Tyrendian89 replied to anonym_CsauhrZtDqUP's topic in General Discussion
pretty much opposite to my experience - for me, this is one of the more dynamic maps usually. Doesnt mean there arent any campers, but at least this map usually has at least one of the teams moving out of their spawn by the 10min mark, which is already better than most other maps at high tiers.- 8 replies

or, you know, dont have people in your clan that you can't trust? And besides, recruiters can start CB divisions, but I dont think they can build stuff.

fair point of course. I personally dont see (and never did) what subs could add to the game, but that may just mena I'm blind -
Which captain skill next on Republique?
Tyrendian89 replied to FearsomeFlotsam's topic in General Discussion
exactly the one argument you could make is that fires are somewhat less dangerous for a Repu, relatively speaking, because you get killed by HE shell damage much faster than a Kurfürst would, so the fires have a lot less time to tick^^
