I mean, at the end of the day these are still only proposed changes - and recently, WG have actually taken a step back from some of their more stupid proposals before they went live. So I am not going to sell my YY quite yet, not until the patch actually hits at least. Doesn't mean I am certain they'll axe this, but I am also not completely without hope... I'm sure @Crysantos @MrConway and their fine colleagues will pass the reactions this is getting up the chain of command as usual - we'll see whether HQ actually goes through with it. -

if this nonsense goes through, Shima's going to win that fight every single time. They'll have pretty much identical theoretical max DPM, but Shima has much much better arcs and also has torpedoes. Which just goes to show how absurd this is... -

good fudging lord... there are not enough facepalms in this world to express how idiotic this is... I mean, sure, YY was probably overperforming, but this? that's not even WGs usual stupid Balancing With a Sledgehammer, that's balancing with a ten-ton Wrecking Ball Oh, and of course the Chung Mu is now a strictly and massively superior ship in pretty much every single way except torpedo range... Not to mention how incredibly daft that whole justification is - Pan Asian smokes are strictly worse than others these days after the (warranted) cooldown nerf, and using both Radar and Smoke in the same justification just makes whoever wrote this seem like they haven't got the faintest clue about the game whatsoever. Which, considering how dumb the change itself is, might well be true... -

no, I couldn't help a smile at that as well. And I did like them having that one relatively heavy punch and then crap-for-RoF afterwards, made for some interesting engagements... and yes, we shall see how powerful this turns out to be indeed! I'm not terribly worried though, seeing as they were smart enough to leave the Kamikaze sisters out of it, and those are the only truly overpowered IJN DDs these days. Shinonome might warrant a look, but otherwise I don't think this is likely to cause too many big balance problems... -
would it get worse for T8s, though? I'm genuinely not sure... The main problem for their matchmaking is too many T10s - with more T9s in the mix, not only will slightly more of those take the spots in T10 matches, but there should also be more T9 matches, where T8s arent nearly as screwed?

you can already see how the accuracy will be improved - just play Zao... plenty scary if you know how to aim^^ And I do like that approach of a buff to IJN DDs - doesnt let them out-DPM anything, but they'll get some credible alpha punches now that will be pretty useful combined with their usually superior concealment. And hey, with this Akatsuki actually out-DPMs a Sims, and isnt all that far behind the Minsk either, so I'm not sure it desperately needs better concealment anymore^^ -

indeed. the one positive thing about this is that you probably dont need SI anymore if this goes live, so you'd be able to spend the points elsewhere... -
fair enough. Personally, I find myself surprisingly ambivalent about it - I thought I'd be more upset about WG selling a T9, but turns out I'm not, at least not that much. Could've been handled better for sure, but... Might also help that Jean Bart doesn't really strike me as a "game-breaking" ship like the Missouri with its (in my opinion) stupid radar - having three Missouris on the enemy team is much worse than facing three JBs, assuming equal player skill. Although that does leave me somewhat worried that WG home office will go for "the obvious cash grab" of also putting Alaska into the store to "milk the US server" - we dont really need another massive overflow of radar at high tiers...

yup... WG communication on this is, as usual, abysmal... how hard would it be to at least say "this is what we're thinking we'll do with these ships right now, SUBJECT TO CHANGE!!!!!11111" (and that's not the fault of our EU guys - they can't tell us what they dont know/arent allowed to say themselves...)
