which, if I recall, you announced before this latest Hamster Rebellion... so I take it you have spies in the Insurgent's ranks that told you in advance that they were planning something, and you took preventative measures? Or was it that you yourself incited the rebellion to flush out the leaders so you could execute them and restore order? WG EBIL CORPORATE OVERLORDS CONFIRMED!

"directly" holding ground is, as you say, risky and often not terribly effective (outside of ships like Richelieu, Des Moines and Izumo that have lots of firepower out front). If you're going to do it, it's usually best to also use the terrain to your advantage (hello Des Memes again). But, the more appropriate way to "hold ground" for most ships is to maneuver, but in such a way that you're still "relevant" for the area you are trying to hold - as in, good firing position in terms of range (including Radar range if you have it) and field of view (so not behind an island). In short, make sure you are as much of a threat for anyone entering the area as you can, while not making yourself a sitting duck.
-
can also be adressed by, for example, making each Radar and/or each Smoke cost 1 point, or any other factors the organizers deem necessary to get the meta they want. At the end of the day, you can more or less make this as complex as you like^^

the idea would of course be that you don't have enough points to bring a full team of T10s, you'd have to decide which area to sacrifice in. I don't think this idea is all that well suited for CBs though, for two main reasons. 1) the power spike from T9 to T10 is, as others have said, indeed massive - I think this would work better at, say, T7+6 (T8 again brings a powerspike in the form of the concealment module). 2) requires a lot of coordination and specific ships in port - not ideal if you want to keep CBs somewhat accessible for everyone. Better suited for a community-organized tournament methinks, where this idea is indeed already in use.

and here I was, ready to poke fun at some random useless necro... guess not this time nicely done good sir!

it's certainly doable - 7km base range coupled with very good firing angles (even the rear-mounted 152mm turrets are surprisingly decent) and a ship that can do pretty well just pointing its nose at a target and raining hellfire and brimstone. But, there are two main problems. As has already been mentioned, she's covered in 32mm plating - so you're extremely vulnerable to HE spam, which can be very very bad when trying to get into secondary range. And most of your guns are 100mm caliber, so if you want them to do any damage whatsoever even to DDs you need IFHE (on top of ManSec and AFT that you need to do a viable secondary spec anyway). That... doesnt exactly leave a lot of room to make a functioning captain in any other regard. Good for a laugh, and exactly what I'm running on my Alsace for the hilarity, but not really what you'd call a super effective build. You're probably better off with CE, FP and AFT (depending on how the AA turns out with the CV Rework), your secondaries will still net you the occasional fire and you've got a much much more well rounded ship otherwise...
-
you seem to be doing okay in your Richelieu compared to your other BBs, so you pretty much know what you're getting - the same ship but with offensive capabilities buffed enough to be perfectly viable at T9. If you enjoy playing the Richie, Jean Bart will give you the same style with much better main guns.
-
it's T6. So forget about Secondary Build being any good.

do continue your ranting, I am entertained!

Comprehensive list of ships which are better than the Belfast (16/01/2019 update):

I can wait if you like, not gonna change anything because I'm not gonna play that season -
another week of CB? nice! so something good came out of the CV rework after all kidding of course, will judge the final product once we have it^^

generally nothing more than just this. I know I do it on occasion, out of sheer disbelief more often than not... kind of the same (placebo) "effect" as the Plays Poorly report, just blowing off some steam at the sheer incompetence regularly on display in randoms these days...
-
been discussed to death, back to life and right back to death about fifty seven million eight hundred ninety three thousand and one time already... frankly, I'm too lazy to repeat all the arguments against it...
-
no need to be an [edited]about it mate... to be fair to him, this is a bit of an extreme example - especially because he really doesnt just shoot the superstructure, some of those shots do go quite far towards the aft (but presumably juuuust not far enough aft)... And yeah randoms gonna random...

Is there a new mod which reveals position in smoke?
Tyrendian89 replied to Shaka_D's topic in General Discussion
you mean the huge splash of water when the torp explodes? yeah that tends to give things away just a little... Not that aiming for that is completely foolproof or done every day, but it's my personal Occam's Razor explanation in the case you describe here - because it doesnt require the extra factor of some sort of cheat, just very good observation from the dude. ^the above is of course assuming he had clear view of the point of impact - couldnt read that clearly from your description. Disregard if that wasnt the case. -

Request to wargaming for cv rework captain respec.
Tyrendian89 replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
asking for full free respecs for the entire period might be a bit much, but I do agree there should be more than one opportunity. Maybe one reset at the start, and then one with each "major" (or non-mini) patch they put out? -
Does this also happen at Tier X?
Tyrendian89 replied to You_Overextended's topic in General Discussion
these days, T10 isnt all that much "better" than T6 with regards to average IQ... you will tend to see more properly good players, but still quite a lot of properly... noooooot good players, to put it diplomatically. And they dont have the excuse of being relatively new. It's different, but whether it's better... well, you can only judge that for yourself once you get there... -
...range mod Monty... oh PLEASE...
-
good plan, and very good general attitude - with that mindset, I have very little doubt you'll end up being a good player at least (if not a lot better) if you decide to stick with the game for long and "seriously" enough. And if you don't - ah well, there are other games out there to have fun with if Warships ends up not being quite right for you^^

what is this "phun" you speak of? looking for an all-expenses-paid vacation trip to Gulag, Comrade?
