  1. okay okay fair enough, if you insist and present me with such compelling evidence I will modify my statement... ...some of them are indeed very very good, they're just very good at being so bad it beggars belief...
  2. no, but that's why we generally call them BBabies - they cry at every opportunity... On a more constructive note, yes double CV matches are tough for mid-tier DDs, and yes if the enemy CVs are good they'll ruin your day every now and then. But here's the thing. The vast majority of CVs are decidedly NOT good, and in those cases you can very much still have a game on your hands. Won't be the same experience as without CVs obviously, but... well, as others have said before, that's where the learn, adapt and overcome part comes into play. Plus which, DDs are easily your highest winrate class - so, in your own words, "give me a break" from the whole "unplayable BS, not fair" schtick - you're obviously well on your way to figuring it out already...
  3. not sure I'd classify Yamato as weird in any particular way... grandiose, maybe, but other than a little bit of overcompensation syndrome she was a relatively normal huge-and-rapidly-obsolete BB... she could be weird if WG gave her the main caliber AA shells tho (but then they bloody better also implement UP launchers for the Royal Navy, same kind of useless-but-pretty fireworks) And Atlanta's just specialised, same concept popped up (and worked) for a number of navies (WG GIB DIDO ALREADY FFS ) And I really dont know how you'd ever classify Incomparable as a cruiser ingame - the bloody thing's larger than a Lion class, and that's a WW2 era full battleship design that sits pretty (well, at least it sits...) at T9... and easily 50% larger than Alaska or B-65 for that matter... okay, minus a little bit for your proposed 15" refit, but still, that's not gonna make up 15k tons... And with 6x15" on that hilarious size she's also not really gonna work particularly well as a BB at any tier; armament kinda limits that to T6 at the very best, and there you've already got QE and the Grand Old Lady (which by the way are near enough the same displacement as Alaska)... so yeah, tough to fit her in I think, just waaaaay too out of this world a design...

    Amagi: early impressions

this. very much this. The economy's ridiculously forgiving, especially compared to WoT (which falls off the other end of that particular spectrum hard...)
  5. or you could, you know, pick a hull that has had at least a little bit more common sense go into its design than Jacky Fishers ultimate pipedream... as amusing as Incomparable is

Miss Perth - How to play.

kind of the usual forum thing for someone that's willing to learn, but here goes regardless... If you want, you can always post a replay or two (probably after you've played her a few times to get an initial feeling yourself) and get some feedback

Miss Perth - How to play.

eh... 25.7s base traverse is quite on the slow side, so while yes you can use the creeping smoke to "dakka in peace" I wouldnt say EM is a bad pick either. ideally both - Perth's a ship that really benefits from having both, so if you can you may want to throw some elite XP at the captain to get him to 14pts. As for general playstyle... pretty good at close cap support, you dont have huge amounts of firepower but your creeping smoke allows you to lend your DDs a hand in pretty decent safety. Otherwise, standard light cruiser stuff really - use terrain to harass the enemy but try to avoid straight up fights. Oh, and be a bit conservative with your smokes - the cooldown only starts when the consumable runs out, which means there's a very long delay between pressing the button and being able to do so again. Make them count.

    A proposal to WG

we've already gotten way too many supercruisers recently if you ask me... no thanks to another one, at least this year...

Those who own Kremlin + other tier X BBs

about as viable against angled BBs as any other AP in the game (save YamaSashi) - not very unless you're close enough to specifically aim for superstructure fullpens or turret destruction. You'd be a bit of a derp (no offense) to completely refuse to use your HE out of principle - you'll get better results out of it than, for example, a Monty that does the exact same thing (which is sometimes just the right thing to do), so why not use it... doesnt mean you should ignore your AP ofc, but where for a Monty the "correct" ratio might be something like 80-20 or even 90-10, for a Conqueror depending on matchup and relative positioning it can be anywhere in the range of 70-30 to 50-50 I'd say.

What did you get from 'Premium T6 Ship' container?

Got a Dunkek. I'll take it - one of the few ships I was actually somewhat interested in out of those I didnt already have. Not necessarily because I think she's super strong or anything, but at least it's a ship with a few unique features for her tier...
  11. Not really the appropriate forum section, but I dont see a better one and this is the closest one to a "General Purpose" we have, so what the heck Just got an email from the WG marketing team about all the premiums they introduced to the Armoury for dubloons with 0.8.8 (which I really like by the way!), and spotted this little gem... Also noteworthy is the listed price for the Massachusetts... wasnt there some law that meant you could lay claim to an item for whatever price it was labeled/advertised at, even if that had been done erroneously? I dont have a Massa yet, and that's a price I might be willing to pay for it... €dit: having actually checked the Armoury now, turns out 13050 is the correct price for Massa, and 7100 is the cost of a PEF... so yeah, bit of a mixup eh?
  12. yeah we dont have any quality trolls left these days do we? Lots of low-to-zero quality content all around tho...
  13. Tyrendian89

I'm done, quality of games made me quit.

"improvements" like forcing everyone towards 50% winrate, or punishing good players by putting even more complete mouthbreathers on their team to achieve "balanced" matches, or opening the field even more for people to complain about rigging, you mean?

among the more obvious hilarity, this is quite the gem too...

    Coal Disparity in Ships Available

that's pretty much a reflection of how they almost exclusively produce high tier premiums these days because those sell for more money - and iirc they stated somewhere that that policy ain't changing anytime soon...

    Ships like T-61?

with one important qualification - T-61, like all german non-BB AP, has relatively bad pen so you have to get very close to get citadels, unlike the Russian 130mm railguns. So you're usually better off aiming for the superstructure and getting meaty full-pen salvoes instead of shattering against the main belt hoping for citadels.

    Shortest Battle Ever?

that looks like a very fulfilling experience for all 24 involved, especially those on your team that had this as their daily win bonus...

    Scharnhorst torpedoes pop like popcorn.

or, you know, Occam's Razor is a thing and the answer is simple RNG. Because I've also had Tirp/Scharn torp tubes survive quite the barrages at times...
  20. Tyrendian89

    Scharnhorst torpedoes pop like popcorn.

I mean, have you actually looked at the launchers? Should be quite obvious what the answer is... Although you should be glad torpedo launchers in this game dont actually explode when hit, especially the Long Lances... just ask any number of IJN ships how fun it is to have a set of oxygen torpedoes suddenly blow up on your ship...

Honest questions not looking for a fight.

word of advice... NEVER use freeXP to unlock a new ship, save it for the modules so you've actually got a competent new ship. Particularly relevant for the NC which gets a straight 25% HP buff and a lot of extra AA from mounting the upgraded hull as well as a significant speed boost from the upgraded engine.
  22. Tyrendian89

Honest questions not looking for a fight.

oh, I know what you mean. The feeling that Battleship drivers have it too easy, especially compared to cruisers, is about as old as the game itself The NC is certainly a very good ship to strive for, but dont expect it to be a wonder weapon. The main reason for that is that it's a T8, so it'll regularly meet T10 ships - and T10 cruisers will generally eat you for breakfast if they're good. Not that you can't hurt them a LOT if they mess up, mind you, but a well-driven Zao/Hindenburg/Henri IV is a scary scary prospect for any T8 Battleship. I always felt like the "sweetspots" for battleship power are at T6-T7 (NewMex and Colorado ain't such great examples because they're slow-as-dirt US Standards, but Sinop... Fuso... oh boy...) and T10 (because those are always top tier and get much scarier firepower than their predecessors ). If you want, there's also the option for you to post a replay or two on here, have some of us more experienced players watch them and give you concrete pointers what you can do differently. Up to you whether you want that, but it's proven quite effective in the past
  23. Tyrendian89

Honest questions not looking for a fight.

this already tells the whole story - you might want to look into how the game actually works if you want to keep improving. And that is not a "you have no clue, l2p noob" kind of attack, that's genuine advice - around the mid tiers, it really helps to famliarise yourself with the game mechanics to understand why things happen the way they do and what you can do to avoid/exploit that. Just to take the above as an example. There is not a single "flag and what not" in the game that interacts with AP shells (well, outside of fun and engaging detonations, but that's a separate mechanic, and the minor influence camos have on dispersion). The main keyword you should look into here is the Overmatch mechanic. Then take a look at the armour model of your NewMex in port, as well as the gun caliber that a New York is armed with, and see if you can figure out what happened. This is again not a "I'm too lazy to help you", but in my experience things like this stick with your memory much better if you look them up yourself Feel free to come back here with any further questions, or even just a big confused face if things don't click right away - most people on here are happy to help anyone that is genuinely looking for advice and not just complaining about "overpowered this" or "hacking that"

    Friendly Fire

I dont really see a downside to implementing this. But on the other hand, I also REALLY dont see this getting any kind of priority - WG have shedloads of much much bigger fish to fry, including ones that they want to implement but arugably shouldnt, and ones that they arguably should implement/fix but apparently dont give a toss about...
