afaik that's always been in, or at least on the cruiser that people started crying about recently: the Hipper. I'd seen that months before, and not said a thing about it because it a) makes perfect sense and shows WG actually do a good job modelling their ships, and b) since it's down to the ship model and not some strange bug anyone with half a brain can recognize the pattern and adjust to it instead of crying about it on the forums...

Nice chart from Reddit about "Effectiveness of the Expert Marksman Skill"!
Tyrendian89 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Benson, yes I totally agree, because there are one amazing (Last Stand) and one decent (Torpedo reload) alternative. Cruisers though, or especially Battleships - there's just nothing else that's of any use... -

I can't even remember the last time my Roon or Ibuki lost their engine/steering when I had no repair available, so Last Stand is also a definite no for me... and since you should be constantly dodging anyway, Incoming Fire Alert also doesn't provide much benefit... which for me leaves Expert Marksman for what little benefit it provides, because that's still more than what the others give me. -

nice table! thanks for sharing! so, it's pretty bad on high tier KM cruisers - but there's no even remotely useful alternative (for any cruiser really...) is there? -
Usage of "Premium Consumables" - do you guys use it on all your ships/tiers or use it selectively?
Tyrendian89 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
depends on the tier for me, and how seriously I'm playing/how badly I feel the ship needs it. For T8-10, the extra expense from premium consumables is rather small compared to regular repairs so I'll generally use two (repair and heal for Cruisers and BBs, repair and smoke for DDs and Kutuzov, thinking about Premium Hydro for my Hindenburg when I get it), but earlier than that it's pretty much a need-to-have basis. Like, my Anshan and Kiev like to fire from smoke quite a bit so they get premium smoke, while I don't feel I need it on the Kamikaze - and on the lower tiers one premium consumable can often cost you more than a full repair of your ship... The new expensive double camo I use even more sparingly, pretty much only on Benson and Ibuki so far, because I feel like those two can make the best use of it, while the little bit of extra stealth doesn't help a Roon or Yamato as much because they're usually spotted anyway... -
ftfy. the answer for you, OP, is: don't go off on a solo rush. Stealth firing only works against the front of the enemy lines (especially in a Blyska which has a pretty narrow Stealthfiring corridor). Or, alternatively, if it's late in the match and there is no support nearby, grow a brain yourself and figure out a way to corner him.

How much ammunition would a ship carry?
Tyrendian89 replied to moggy242's topic in General Discussion
Torpedo reloads are a whole different beast (where they were even a thing at all, see iChase's recent "how I research my Know Your Ship videos" for the example of the Fubuki...), but having single shots for Torp launchers would just not be very playable or fun imho. -

you're not alone in that... -
good points, but you do have to keep in mind that there's a limit to the server load the game can take, and they have to keep it accessible for people with toastersnot-quite-top-of-the-line PCs. Although aircraft ordnance wouldn't be any kind of drag on anything really... we'd just need two separate models for planes, one with and one without armament... never thought of that but now that you've mentioned it, I'll probably never be able to unsee that. Curse you! xD

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Tyrendian89 replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
ye... I think I just about broke even throughout the evening, with premium... definitely not a moneymaker that thing, but hella fun when it works out (aka 55k salvo into opposing Yamato or oneshotting unfortunate T10 cruisers that happened to turn at the wrong time and place... somehow Des Moines seem to be a magnet for that at least for me, gonna be interesting to see how well a Moskva will take that kind of firepower!) -
ARP commanders & lack of stat points
Tyrendian89 replied to fighting_lady_tatiyana's topic in General Discussion
those points are earned in two or three battles... so I kinda fail to see any need... -
sad story... the next clueless aimbot accusation... with naming&shaming on the forums too... could you go any lower? *sigh*

Soviet DD captain skills dilemma.. need advice
Tyrendian89 replied to D7v's topic in General Discussion
seconded! -
he was probably autodropping on you in that case, or incredibly gifted with his manual drops. But either way, the bombs fall in a pretty random pattern (US feeling much more accurate than IJN somehow but there are more of them so that might explain it). Besides, a Lexi doesn't need many hits to nuke a DD with its new(ish) heavy bombs...

the only one feeding a troll (or rather being one) here is you - we are having a serious thread with a legitimate topic, although started by someone with a reputation.
-
can't confirm that either - we did a triple Yamato division all evening yesterday and didn't lose a single turret between us iirc...

well... we did play pretty overagressive most of the time, which led to us usually dying because none of our teams had any concept of "hey, that trio of the biggest badassest battleships in the game just said they will push their flank hard, maybe we should go support them!"... we were quite the feast for a certain Khabarovsk one time who got Witherer something like t minutes in because our own DDs and cruisers couldn't be bothered to go bother him while he was happily blazing away at us... But yes we did have a ton of fun Especially in one game that had a whopping four T10 Battleships on both sides and no Shima overload (which seemed generally pretty rare that evening; sure there was one game with a total of six Shimas but it felt like we almost met more Gearings than Shimas...) -
Generally true - I'd just like to add that there's a few near-exceptions to that that I can think of, as in ships that ALMOST always use one shell type. IJN Destroyers being one of them - you almost never get into a situation where a cruiser is both close enough and broadsiding you so that you a) want to fire in the first place and b) can realistically hope for citadels, especially considering how good the HE ammo is. The other one is the mighty Yamato - you never need HE against angled BBs because your AP just butters them anyway, and even against DDs your AP shells hurt a hell of a lot, as do your secondaries with a bit of luck.

Did a Mighty Scrublord Triple Yamato division for a good chunk of the evening with WolfGewehr and geralt, met quite a few familiar faces/names and had an absolute blast! -
odd... I'm chewing up all of those comfortably with my Kiev... well Bensons not quite comfortably but they don't eat me either.
-
it's not the amount of smoke, but the angle at which it's coming out - the flatter the faster. Other than that, context like other ships or terrain also helps. And, of course, actually knowing the ship you're shooting to have an idea about what speeds to expect in the first place - no use in giving the same amount of lead to a full speed Colorado that you would to a full speed Iowa...
-
you should rather ask WHERE we are fighting - every time a ship sinks, it goes to the bottom, then falls through the Rift and onto the homeworld of the Kaiju! They thought repeatedly having huge chunks of metal falling into their front lawn rude, and that's why they're going to invade soon.
-
never heard of that either... probably just a salty idiot with (for you) strange timing...

Russian Cruisers (API Ship Stats Released)

I'm not saying New Orleans is a brilliant ship, but it doesn't (just judging from what we've seen so far! Bucket of Salt needed!) feel outclassed by Chapaev - they're just a tad too different for that, mainly in the gun size and maneuverability departments (as in, NO's guns are not that bad at T8 and she's rather small and nimble, especially compared to the 890m (or what it was) turning circle of the Chappy). Baltimore, on the other hand, has almost the same guns at a tier higher where they "compete" with Roon murdercannons, and the Donskoi just kinda seems to outperform it in almost every respect (much like everyone else already does, only now she also gets outperformed in the AA department...) And Des Moines is just too different from the other T10s to really be outclassed - if she manages to get into the right spot (as in, close!) she'll murderate anything (well anything that's not a Yamato/Montana) with her insane RoF. Specialised in one area, where she outperforms the others if you can get her there, but she pays for that with the lack of punch at long ranges. Also, just to throw numbers into the mix: Flamu (who I think we can all agree is a pretty good yardstick as to how well a ship can perform in extremely capable hands) has almost the same average damage on his Des Moines (99.5k) as on his Hindenburg (102k) - both admittedly miles behind his Zao (113k) and a literal crapton more average XP than both (2.86k vs. 2.4kish). Couple that with still-insane AA, and no I don't think the Des Moines is significantly weaker than the other T10 cruisers (tentatively including Moskva from what we've seen so far), they're all just very different beasts.
