Some interesting info around the world

I'm not saying I want those. I sure as all hell don't. I'm just throwing out ideas that I think are likely. But I still don't believe it's happening - it's either accidentally in there, or WG is trolling us (successfully, props to them. I hope.

Some interesting info around the world

hm what indeed... I'd assume they would make it directly shell related, so accuracy seems unlikely to me... for HE better fire chance would seem like an obvious stat to tweak, or maybe better module damage? AP could get better penetration (either the ominous Krupp value, or better penetration angles like the USN AP got a while back)... as for torpedoes, maybe some sort of "running silent" torpedoes that are harder to detect?

Some interesting info around the world

that all looks very cool! really liking those new post-battle screens, hoping they're not too far off. One thing that immediately caught my eye sent all the alarms into overdrive though: On the earnings and spendings screen, there's 100 dubloons spent on Ammo resupply. Now, I'm pretty sure that's just a "feature" of the demo they obviously made for those screenshots (look at those awesome round numbers^^ also, props for five team kills). God I hope it's just that and we aren't getting premium ammo... or, if we do get it (which would probably suck but I'll wait to see the actual info) that it'll also be available for silver like in WoT...
  4. yup. Or well, we're more or less alternating between that and 2/2/2 Shokaku, kinda depending on what the rest of the team runs - Shokaku ain't exactly brilliant at killing DDs with its meh DBs, while Lexi eats those for breakfast. Just takes a slightly different approach from everyone. And we're at a comfortable 64% winrate with it, over an admittedly not huge sample size of 28 games.
  5. ran into Babykim, Damanta and DJ_Die in their T7 gunboat division (2x Kiev plus Sims), which scared me in my Fubuki sh!tless at first. Because, let's be honest, who else would they rather be gunning for So I played a rather passive game at first, launching torps their way but only hitting a Fubuki on their team and otherwise staying in the cover of my allied cruisers. That went on for quite a while, until I suddenly saw that we were winning - I couldn't tell you how, so focused was I om the fight at hand But the game ended with me torping I think DJ for the last kill of the game, so I did get to hit one of you guys
  6. we're doing just fine with ours. Kills DDs like nobody's business. no idea what you're complaining about...

    [REQ] Matchmaker working as intended

seconded. There's enough ridiculosly idiotic whining going on already when the matchmaker doesn't have a hint of such a system. I don't want to imagine how bad it'll get once it officially has something like that and people can accuse it of being cheated...

    mogami T3 captain perk

ah okay I'd probably still have taken the captain over to Mogami and onwards and started a new one for Myoko, because of how much high tier IJN cruisers benefit from Concealment Expert... On the Ibuki and Zao it's more or less down to personal preference whether you take Vigilance or Superintendent (I personally feel I don't get surprised by Torpedoes often enough for Vigilance to outweigh the extra heal, but that's going to vary a lot with playstyle) - and that's pretty much the only reason you would EVER take Superintendent on Mogami: for carrying it on to Ibuki and beyond if you don't want to spend gold to respec.

Primary or secondary armament as AA gun

AA is an entirely separate thing from main and secondary guns, as it's just a passive aura around your ship with random fireworks while shells flying at ships are actually rendered and calculated properly. The guns are working in both capacities at the same time.

    mogami T3 captain perk

Supernintendo is almost 100% useless on Mogami, and seeing how you are starting a fresh captain for her (for whatever reason, care to elaborate on that? completely baffles me...) I almost assume you will do the same for Ibuki where Supernintendo is probably the better pick?
  11. Tyrendian89

    Myoko or Yorck?

Myoko did lose a bit of range, but is still the vastly superior ship. Yorck retains the weaknesses of the Nürnberg (bleh concealment, next to no survivability) but loses its main strength, as she's the only German cruiser with really really bad AP ammo (HE is decent on Yorck, but that's not why you play the German cruiser line...). Myoko wins in almost every category, the only exceptions being Torpedo and Gun Angles where she's rather annoying. Thing is, what comes after the Yorck is pure joy. Admiral Hipster is a very very good ship, and it only gets better from there. Mogami on the other hand is rather meh these days.

    -Remove Turret Destruction-

even more hilarious when it happens from an auto-dropping Shokaku torpedo bomber... and yes, I tend to just laugh at things like that when it happens to me, and apologize if I do it to people. Still don't think either detonation or permanent turret destruction are mechanics that add anything much to the gameplay except frustration since they're almost entirely luck based, but the devs know about it and it's their choice what if anything to do about it.

Some interesting info around the world

seconded! can't be said often enough! I'd vote for giving Carnotzet a Community Contributor badge with all the jazz that entails (like early access to new ships), because that's what you're doing: contributing a LOT to this particular part of the community!

    HMS Campbeltown & USS Saipan

yes at lower tiers flooding deals more damage than fire, but floods from CV torps are anything but reliable these days, while DBs (seem to) have a 100% fire chance. Also, if you reliably want to hit a couple of torpedoes on competent oponents you will want to send in your Torps more or less all at once, otherwise the small squadrons of the Saipan will often get chewed up by AA - sending in two and keeping one in reserve seems pretty risky, especially since that last squadron would have to hit all of its torps to have a decent chance at a flood, against an opponent that can start to dodge them completely fresh since they'll have to wait until repair runs out. A Hiryu on the other hand can send in its torps, cross drop with its two squadrons, have a decent chance at a flood, wait out the repairs and then send in its two DB squadrons which will (depending on the AA landscape, but that doesn't hurt this tactic any more or less than it hurts others) reliably get two or even three fires to burn for their full duration.

    Just an opinion

that, and also what was that definition of insanity? doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?
  16. Tyrendian89

New tier 7 premium carrier Saipan (5.14)

and both at least somewhat balanced at first glance, and unique with that weird layout. Those fighter squadrons look like a very equal 1v1 against Hiryu fighters, and on the strike front Saipan has way better direct damage but Hiryu (assuming 2/2/2) has way better DoT from DBs setting fires after repairs. Plus more reserves for Hiryu. And while Saipan looks to beat 1/1/1 Ranger, and has the fighters to annoy 0/1/3 Ranger, 2/0/2 Ranger can potentially run her out of reserves rather quickly. Probably advantage Saipan, but Ranger can specialise better and is more forgiving to play. Not too bad overall I would say as a first impression.

    Concealment vs Range

If you've got half a brain you can live (as in, do well) without either (as evidenced by the fact that both Battleships and Destroyers are a thing), you just have to play accordingly. Things get tricky when you have neither, like Pensacola or Atlanta or even the Russian DDs without AFT. For me personally, I like both sides of the coin equally: the fire-and-dodge of long range Cruiser combat and the sneak-in-and-blast that high concealment can allow you to do. That, for me, is the great thing about a stealth-and-range specced Ibuki: I can hover around 16-18km and take shots (usually detected while doing it if the enemy DDs or CV do their job; makes life all the more interesting because dodging is fun), and then I can quickly switch to running silent, getting into a cap unseen or surprise a cruiser with a nice 10km AP salvo into his broadside that he never saw coming.

    HMS Campbeltown & USS Saipan

well, both of these definitely seem unique and special which is good for a premium, and also pretty powerful. Saipan will cause quite some headache in competent hands but doesn't seem unstoppable - lower reserves than its silver competitors, and the lack of dive bombers takes away quite a bit of potential DoT...
  19. got my rear handed to me by the ever-legendary Raskeria in his Moskva - pretty strange matchmaking left me in my Tirpitz as the only BB on our team against his team full of T10 cruisers and a Montana. I was surprised I managed to last as long as I did, and even got in a cheeky citadel on Rask when he parked in an awkward spot, but couldn't prevent the team getting slaughtered. Solid win for the reds, with Rask getting a Close Quarters Expert, High Caliber and top score in the team. Well played to him!

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

FINALLY managed to get over 200k damage in a game... took me long enough, over 2500 games... I'm entirely unsurprised it was my trusty Tirpitz that took me over that magical wall at long last And also got myself a shiny new Hindenburg, when a very nice Roon game with the 3x bonus finally took away my last excuse - didn't even have to spend freeXP anymore, so I really had to leave my beloved Roon behind Not such a bad day overall if I do say so myself...

British DD on its way in

just what we need, you complaining about anything you can get your hands on, why am I not surprised...
  22. Ahoy fellow Forumites, just something that keeps crossing my mind: What do you all think about the current shell damage system in World of Warships, where every shell does a more or less fixed amount of damage, especially in the case of AP shells where there's precisely three different damage numbers possible (10% overpen, 33% penetration, 100% citadel)? Sure, with HE things can sometimes get a little more varied, and there are a couple of other factors that sometimes play a part like depleted sections. But at least to me personally, those very fixed and repetitive numbers that pop up always felt a little strange, and I feel World of Tanks does that a little better. So, what do you think? Would that extra bit of RNG be good for the game? What kind of percentage range should those rolls fall into? Very small, just to mix up the numbers? Substantial, like WoT's 25% range? Huge, so that you can get those epic lucky shots sometimes? Something in between? Or none at all? I realize it's unlikely that something like this will get implemented into the game anytime soon if ever, but I'm still curious what we the players think about that!
  23. dunno but my USN DDs would LOVE having both Demo Expert and Survivability Expert along with Concealment Expert... basically, GIMME ALL DEM EXPERTS!
