    Escaping. Was I wrong?

Getting out of dodge initially was the right move for sure. Running to the edge of the map probably wasn't. Always keep an eye on the battle and where you might be needed - even with 141hp you can still reset a cap that one decisive time, or provide AA to a ship that desperately needs it, or just by being there block an enemy DD from going where he needs to go when he needs to, or grab that abandoned cap for your team, or any number of other things. And you can do none of those from the edge of the map.

3 Daily missions at the same time today?

same thing here, which I think establishes that it's something out of the ordinary - having multiple very experienced players (Jap, Babykim mentioned it in the Forumites channel) run into that for the first time ever on the same day seems like a bit too much to be a coincidence

    219 HE hits - 4 Fires Atago

that, and being smart enough to not hit the parts of the ship that are already on fire, which I suspect may have played a role here.

    Tirpitz Brawler Setup

I'll just comment on things I disagree with there - might look negative at first glance, but I'm too lazy to say "yes" to everything else... I agree with most things! 500k upgrade I prefer the main battery accuracy for sure - Tirpitz secondaries are good enough as they are at starting fires, they don't need help with doing that, and the actual shell damage is rather minuscule in my experience. I just prefer to be better at what a Battleship does best: shoot things dead. Very dead. 1m upgrade is indeed a bit of a tossup - I prefer the ruddershift because Tirpitz is naturally pretty decent in that regard and the module pushes that into very comfortable regions, but DC is also viable. I just feel that it works better on ships that are pretty much hopeless at dodging anyway (*cough* Yamato *cough*). Personal preference. 2m upgrade: I'd say Target Acquisition is indeed worth it, because again Tirpitz can actually dodge torpedoes when she sees them early enough. And once you get the hang of her, she will make you those two million credits in four games. 1st level Commander skill is absolutely always Situational Awareness for me no matter what ship I'm in. In battleships it's not so much about knowing when you are spotted, although that can be damn handy against a DD stalking you, but to know when you are not spotted (because of terrain for example) and thus safe to turn in the face of the enemy. Total lifesaver that. After that I'd rate Basics of Survivability over Basic Firing Training - it's just a more noticable benefit. 3rd level Commander skill you might want to consider Vigilance as well, as especially combined with the Target Acquisition module it makes you nigh-on immune to getting oneshot by torpedo spreads, unless they catch you in an extremely unfortunate moment. 5th level Manual Secondaries I'd say is not worth it on Tirpitz (or any ship really, although it's pretty hilarious on Izumo/Yamato). Your secondaries just don't have the range. You will probably find yourself in a situation where you need them every three or four games. And then it's usually such a chaotic melee that between guns, maneuvering and torpedoes you will often simply forget to set a focus target for them, thus wasting them completely. And, again, their main purpose is setting fires anyway, which they do just fine without the skill. Get more 3rd level skills instead, especially Vigilance.

    Fubuki Torp Module

I'm on the slower ones with Torp Acceleration - 12km range @ 62kts just is the balance I like best

No loadout is suitable for aircraft carrier!

oh if only this were true... IF ONLY... the seas would dry out from all the salt... on a more general note, all of the loadouts on the Bogue (which is not a fashion magazine btw!) are viable in my opinion - Fighter (2/1/0) is the most popular/easiest but also least effective, and very unfun to play against, so do the entire community a favour and don't. Balanced (1/0/1) is just that - a good balance of punch (if you plant them well those six Torps hurt a LOT) and Fighter power (you'll generally win pretty handily against a Zuiho, are obviously equal to another standard Bogue and get shut down by Fighter Bogue). Strike Bogue (0/1/2) has the highest potential if you're good, but is also very vulnerable to a good opponent that has fighters becaue you can't defend yourself very well (earlier you could just bunch up your planes and be pretty much immune to Zuiho fighters because your rear gunners just chewed them up, that's gone because of Strafe).

Some interesting info around the world

that (although once you get the fire rate of the Roon even your HE becomes a rather scary thing even though per salvo still weaker than your counterparts), and I feel like German CAs also benefit from really good players the most since they were (before Russians) the most visible and least maneuverable of the bunch and AP requires more precise aim than HE to get the best results...
  8. and here I was, hoping for an amusing "Premium ships are too bad, please buff them" thread... and I got this instead...

From April 1st... notice anything about that?

Some interesting info around the world

well we do have one very vocal German on here who also incessantly (and idiotically) complains how weak the German Cruiser line is according to him...

    AFT > fire chance?

yeah I'd second Demo Expert over Survivability Expert as my personal preference, but both are equally good - I'd suggest taking both for the 179k XP period where you have 14 points, if you don't mind respeccing afterwards... AFT is garbage, as has been said in pretty much every preceding post.
  12. I'm pretty miffed that that package came out now - a few days earlier and I would have probably bought it, but not right after I got myself the month of premium plus 3500 dubloons pack... meh
  13. yeah... now that I think about it I notice that change in attitude in myself... early on in my career I'd be annoyed if a carrier caught me at all, and really salty if he heavily damaged me because I felt so helpless. Now that I have a better grasp of the game overall and also of what I can and can't do to defend myself, I just accept whatever happens - if I get nuked, it's either "props to him! nice strike!" or "oh jeez wake up you dork, you totally let him do that" for me.
  14. yeah I guess it does still happen occasionally from the two situations you mention - I think I just file those moments away under just those headings and then forget them instead of taking them seriously in any way... But I do think it has died down a LOT compared to, say, Open Beta, especially on these here forums.

    Matcmaking, losing credits

thing is, if you can't support your repair costs in a T8 you do need to improve - T8 is still possible for a decent player without premium. If you continuously get one-shot in a NO, you might want to look at the way you're playing and start wondering why. Sure, the odd one-shot will happen - you're playing a cruiser, that's life. But if it happens all the time, that's entirely on you. And the matchmaker doesn't have much to do with it - if you play dumb, a Fuso will annihilate your T8 cruiser just as quickly as a Yamato will, although the better players higher up do tend to punish mistakes more often. Besides, forgive me if I highly doubt the veracity of your claim about being put into T10 games 80% of the time. That might have been one evening, and if so bad luck suck it up, but I won't believe you've been in 22 T10 games until you show me proof .
  17. I myself haven't seen any "Carriers OP" in months... there's plenty of ways to counter them, like for all ship classes, but also plenty of situations where they will absolutely wreck you - again, like any other class that finds that perfect situation for itself.

    Update 0.5.4 inbound

I'd add in step 1.5: Check your Orlan for how much XP you've got lying around on it, since that might already be enough to research a T2 - if so you can skip Steps 2-4. Otherwise, yup.
  19. Tyrendian89

    Update 0.5.4 inbound

might depend on how much XP he's got lying around on the Orlan... probably enough, but who knows. And even if... that's just one single game in a T1 that's pretty fun, so not really much of a hardship...
  20. Had the pleasure of meeting (and sinking) the Imperial Forumite Navy earlier this evening in Team Battles - quite a strange feeling when you've divisioned up with (probably) all the guys on the enemy team at least once...

    Team Battles Ship Class Restrictions

since when do BBs have utility? Other than that I don't disagree with you though...

    Update 0.5.4 inbound

umm... backwards logic much (from WG not you)? If they wanted to see its impact, MAYBE they should have stuck it on ships that people actually have, as opposed to have a long grind to get?

    Update 0.5.4 inbound

two points from the patch notes that I like: Recalculated protection of secondary guns from HE shells and shrapnel - it is now calculated based on the maximum thickness of the frontal armor. Hit points of secondary guns have been doubled. Yamato mucho likey! Usually wouldn't have any left after two or three good HE volleys... Changed the sound effect for damage markers hooooray!
