Bad weather in North map with "cyclone"
Tyrendian89 replied to Nomanos's topic in General Discussion
only had one match with a cyclone so far, ended up working in our favour because I managed to lead a charge that caught several enemy ships one after the other while trying to form up. Could have gone way differently though... Really liked it that one time, certainly made for an interesting element (including an osheet moment when, after running down two separate cruisers, the third enemy we encountered was a very healthy Battleship. Usually very bad news for a Shchors at 8km, but lucky for me my allied BBs did some awesome sniping that killed the guy before he could react.) -
the stats you see in port are almost 100% meaningless - what you really need to look at are the actual features of each ship and how those will perform in a given situation. But, as a rough overview, here's a few of the "best" in the categories: Survivability: tough to say because the classes work so differently... Carriers probably have the highest survival percentage, Yamato takes shots the best, Kagero is probably the best at not getting shot in the first place Artillery: Yamato has the biggest and most powerful guns, Montana has the largest broadside weight but struggles against angled Battleships, Zao is love Zao is life, Hindenburg is pure murder at punishing any kind of broadside no matter what you are. Yamato also wins in Secondaries together with Izumo. Torps: Shima has easily the highest amount, but right now I think the single best torpedo in the game sits on Gearing. AA: Montana has iirc the best base AA, while Hindenburg and Des Moines have defensive AA fire to shred planes like there's no tomorrow while it's active Concealment: Kagero for serious ships, and a couple of the really low tier IJN DDs for the lulz Maneuverability: with a combination of insane speed and decently small size and turning, Kiev is pretty good here - can't really comment on how the higher RU DDs feel in that regard.

speaking of timing... considering the date the event starts I will be very disappointed if we don't get a Star Destroyer as a prize, or at least TIE and Rebel skins for CV planes. -

curious which Premiums will be up for grabs after all - maybe "just" the four shown, i.e. Texas Marblehead Molotov Indianapolis, but maybe others as well/instead? I for one am not terribly excited about any of those four - Gimme the Smith! -
Vigilance, maybe, but I'm with Trouble - Supernintendo is worth a ton for T9-10 cruisers. Both are much better than High Alert at any rate, especially on a Cruiser... Besides that, Situational Awareness is an absolute must for any cruiser ever, and Basics of Survivability are pretty meh on cruisers. You've got a pretty short DC cooldown and are unlikely to get HE spammed as much as Battleships anyway. Second row, Fire Prevention is one of the worst skills in the entire tree. Get rid of that. Expert Marksman is what you want.

Flamu is not saying (and neither is anyone of us here) that nothing happened to the Shima. Something happened alright, and what happened was a significant nerf to one playstyle of Shima captains that WG wanted to cut down on (long range low risk Torp spamming), while giving a few new options and incentives to the alternative playstyle that WG (along with me for one) likes much better (sneaking into position with a bit of risk to yourself to get that perfect torp wave). The question whether that was an overnerf that will require buffs to the Shima in the future will remain to be seen - some think yes, some think no. What we're disputing, with Flamu's monster performance to back it up, is what some people keep claiming: That the Shima is now "unplayable", "dead", "a Tier 5 ship" and other ridiculous hyperbole of the kind. That is just complete bollocks in my humble opinion. -

ah yeah you were the Atlanta, gg mate! pretty decent game for me, and that team was actually miles better than the one I got afterward... as in, Northern Lights, and every. single. freaking. ship. except for me turns away and heads straight for the 9-10 lines, and stays there. god that was frustrating... -

Flamu agrees the changes are a good thing. Flamu is God. Flamu is love. Flamu is life. /thread.* *do feel free to put your irony meter to use, it might get some results on that statement... -

I kind of fail to see the connection... what does that have to do with the potential the very best Shima players can get out of her after 5.5? Since we're pretty much in agreement that Shima got nerfed for the average joe that was just dropping torps from way back, the impact on the top players is what I (at least) am really curious about. And Flamu, for one, certainly doesn't have any kind of a shortage of dubloons... -

while having some actual numbers does help, and I admit to being surprised at that drastic a drop, that is an entrie two player's worth of data. Let's see if that trend continues, and if it does we'll know the Shima was overnerfed. -

yeah, that's what I thought about it as well: A reasonable aproach to the problem that was Shima spam (at least enough people saw it as a problem that WG felt like they needed to act on it)... as to whether that is going to actually solve the problem in a satisfactory way while still leaving the Shima in a playable state, I think it's too early to tell - we've had the patch for all of a weekend. I'll withhold final judgement for at least a week or two until people have had a chance to really absorb the new lay of the land. -

...who are "they" do you think? Did you pay the modders money, to feel so entitled to their work?

I really need to start to remember these are a thing now, and stop switching to other ships immediately when I die... -
these "fines" can't be more than a couple hundred credits... who cares...

that would be true if everyone played like that. But there's plenty of Shimas that know their trade, which (like with every ship) raises the average damage. true for bad players. Not arguing that. But the better players were at around that kind of distance anyway when launching their torpedoes in earnest at a specific target they wanted to kill, and that has become much deadlier. -

*sigh* not this crapagain... Notice how Shima still has more than three times the player number of the other DDs? Wait until the idiots leave her because they can't deal with the nerfs, and only (or well a majority) the competent captains are left, like with Gearing and Khabarovsk because competent captains are needed to have any kind of fun and success with those. And now Shima also needs a competent driver to utilize her new superweapon: the F3 torpedoes. Those won't work for your random dude who was happy spamming torp walls from 15km and getting two hits a game. But they made the Shima much much deadlier in the hands of really good players, most of whom incidentally really like the patch.- 274 replies

ah Vigilance it was, makes even less sense...

lol nice idea, just outdated - install the patch mate! I'm at less than 9k files these days!

and many a game is lost because some idiot has his chat turned off and refuses to look at his minimap, ignoring how the match actually goes just so he can camp in his little empty corner of the map... not related to you personally in any way, just saying...

I'd heard the Target Acquisition Module buffed radar, not that that makes much sense just something I heard... also I doubt anyone would run that thing on a cruiser...

wild-[edited]guess: low graphic settings causing the animations to not show (things in that regard might have changed with the patch...), and bad luck on not killing any?
