  1. seconded on all points. I wasn't saying I saw WoWS as the next big ESports game, it's waaaay too niche for that, both in terms of scenario and gameplay/pace (and neither do I have any aspirations whatsoever to do something like that). What I was calling nonsense on was invoking RNG again - we are not near the top because of nothing/more sacrifices to RNGsus. We are there because we are good. We're not the best, certainly not individually, but we're good - and we've got the teamwork to make everyone count. And that I'm damn proud of, proud enough to defend it against people just calling it random luck. And that's also why I'm really happy to see this initiative, which I hope will take off and provide guys like us with more opportunities to have fun playing each other than WG have been able/willing to provide on their own so far.

2 new premiums mentioned by Notser

anyone got a tl;dr on the Arizona? What makes her not a NewMex?
  3. as a member of one of the top teams, pardon my french but this is pure bullsheet...
  4. except the matchmakes does actually... it (reputedly, as per patchnotes from a few patches ago when Torpedo Soup was in full swing) tries to balance DDs by nation as well. Not that that always works mind you, but the notion is there.

    Spotter Plane is OP

spotter plane =/= catapult fighter, which is what Ken's talking yelling about I assume

Are you having fun in Ranked ?

why can't I select both options???!!! because that'd be the only truthful answer I could give you

    Amagi vs Fuso

skipping Nagato is heresy! ontopic, I think they are both (or all three including Nagato) equally great; Fuso with sheer firepower, Nagato with its accuracy compared to trollorado, Amagi with (feels like) even better accuracy and very nice speed. Especially the Amagi is a ship that rewards skill like few other BBs - thin(ish) armour means you have to angle well or get murdered, and the guns are so accurate they border on being unforgiving if your aim is crap.
  8. true, T8 BBs are where it currently does get a bit tight, even considering how relatively widespread and popular the Tirpitz is. From what we'd heard a while ago though, there will possibly be rather few reasons to ever pick Bismarck over Tirpitz (since, in theory, she's pretty much a copy without Torpedoes - we'll have to see exactly how WG handle her though!)
  9. aaand now you can apologize to CorrinRoth for calling gr0pah instead of him our glorious leader ;) gr0pah is "just" our face(paw) these days and handles quite a bit of the communication. On a more serious note, our experience in TBs (which by now also includes a couple of T10s during the DST showmatch) does advocate for some limits to ship choices, just to make the matches more interesting. In no particular order, and very much meant as starting points for discussion: -multiple DDs (USN in particular) leads to very smokey-campy matches (we had a pair of 2DD vs 3DD matches against MDIV yesterday that nearly broke the spirit of our non-DD players because the entire thing came down to randomly torping smoke clouds) -having multiple of the same ship in a team also kind of lends itself to one-dimensional tactics (like bow-on NC tanking), maybe saying "no multiples of any ship whatsoever" for 7v7 with progressively laxer rules for bigger teams (say, one duplicate for 9v9 and two for 12v12 or something) would be one thing to do here, although that's VERY radical, probably too much so

    New German Premium BB sighted!

same for me - I am totally getting this thing no matter the price. Love my Derpitz to death, and this looks at least as fun.
  11. hmmm... I would almost advise to stick to the known-and-WG-approved 7v7 that we are used to from TBs at first, since that's where the top teams have most of their experience (maybe alongside 12v12 "Clan Wars"). Not that I'm opposed to 9v9s per se, but for a truly competitive setting I think it would be good to at least start with something that all of the participants already know and have experience in, and if wanted you can ease into 9v9s at a later date.
  12. T6 would sure be fun and different - we in Tora Tora Tora had quite a discussion about which ships would work there when we considered signing up for MDIVs T6 league. I think each tier has its own merits and flaws when it comes to ship choices available - like T8 having very balanced BBs but more or less only one DD (Benson ok plus Lo Yang but that's a Benson) and two (Atago and MK) and a half (Chappy) cruisers. What I would actually kinda also like to try would be T9 - Iowa is nice and fast which can enable some epic pushes, Fletch would rule the seas DD wise but cruisers have at least three decent options, and AS Taiho can actually do damage and doesnt get annihilated by Kutuzovs as badly which makes things more fun for the CV players.
  13. availability of T10s could be solved pretty easily if they manage to do it like DST did on asia - dedicated Tournament server with all ships and 19pt captains for every participant (or normal server and press accounts). T8 issues could be tackled by limiting the numer of premiums - the MDIV league has a limit of two premium cruisers max iirc, although banning them completely would also make for an interesting environment (dominated by Chappy and Hipper probably) but, nothing wrong with doing different tiers - 7 and lower do have the issue of slow BBs tho which limits push potential somewhat...
  14. so... this is kind of a duplicate effort to the already running http://liga.marine-division.eu/index.php/en/ (which has some of the top teams involved, including but not limited to Sons of Kraken, Aseveljet and Tora Tora Tora)? Or am I missing some crucial difference? Don't get me wrong, it would be great to get this rolling faster than WG is apparently willing/able to do it - I'm genuinely curious how you'd differentiate yourself from them, or maybe you've just missed them?
  15. yup, for sure that game had it all
  16. Tyrendian89

Wrong advice in Bad Advice video #8

yup, especially if you'd been spotting said ship with planes before and that caused him to pop smoke in the first place - you can easily keep a plane near to make sure he doesn't bugger off out of his smoke cloud
  17. yeah I think you found quite a good balance there - everyone will understand why you favour "your own" team slightly (just watch one football match where the commentator is from one of the participants - you can't help it!), but you definitely left enough room for appreciation of the opponent's skill, which is how it should be. Very professionally done imho!
  18. that, and there is no EU tournament server sadly - everyone got accounts with all ships and 19pt captains for the event to ensure level playing field in that regard

    US Ships question!

unlikely on silver ships - those represent the class, not a specific ship (even though the models are done after one specific ship at one specific time usually)

    Nurnberg

you seem to be rather new to these forums, otherwise how could you have passed up such a glorious opportunity for a... Bagel pls I like Neinberg tho, both as a ship (even tho she may be a bit weak for T6, as the stats show) and as a term for it

    Bomber squads dying all together

no you don't. You certainly don't, not if you think about it for a second Although... Kutuzov/DM/Hindenburg with DF active aren't far off...
  22. Tyrendian89

    171 shots fired, 4 hits

while that's definitely true true, KBerg and NBerg guns also annihilate DDs with their AP... you don't want to start a gunfight with a competent captain in one of those

is the Anti-BB mafia a thing on here yet? If so you are the godfather!

    Bomber squads dying all together

sounds like a well-done strafe, yup. Countermeasures: Don't group up your planes, don't fly them in straight lines for too long unattended, start dodging when you see enemy fighters move in behind them How to do it yourself: with Fighter selected, hold ALT and you'll see the targeting reticule - similar to a manual torp drop. High damage to anything (including friendlies and own planes) caught, high ammo cost. Bonus extra mean pro tip: A strafe will damage any and all squads that have their positional marker (the little arrow on the ground/sea that also shows which way they're facing) inside the strafing area. This means that, if you have more than one fighter squad (or by using allies as bait...), you can sometimes approach an ongoing fighter engagement from such an angle that you can position your strafing to only catch the enemy squadron(s). Doesnt always work, but is fiendishly effective when it does.
