Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

can't say I'm surprised that German DDs are the fourth line WG were planning for this year - was pretty much the obvious pick to fill out the German tree completely. Let's see whether they manage to finish them in time for christmas -
It's time to lower chance to catch on fire by 60%

Holy Discounts Batman! - Or: WG weren't kidding when they said "Sale on nearly everything"...

http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/special/weekend-doubles-allin/ Cheaper Premium time for dubloons, better conversion rate for freeXP, 50% off on Port Slots, Modules and Consumables (hey WG this would be a great time for surprise Depot you know... )... and that's with two big dubloon sinks (captain retraining to new ship is easy now and respecs are almost free atm as well) mostly gone... What's there left to spend dubloons on now??? Ships? Oh wait and this massive discount they've just given us! What happened to you milking your customers according to some Forum loudmouths WG? Maaaaybe this'll shut them up? -
reading dates is hard yes?

trying? sure why not. Playing in earnest? I'd have to test it first

Sorry WG Storm is cool buts breaks balance !

While they are a feature I very much like, I would agree that Cyclones sometimes last for way too long. Three or five minutes would be cool, twelve can be reeeeeally obnoxious. -
Atago is weak? tell me more...

I've got some serious doubts that's how it works. The ratio between top tier, mid tier and bottom tier matches (for a T5 for example) probably won't change significantly (at least I dont see why it should). The only thing that should change is that, when you're top tier, it will be in a match of T4&5 instead of T3-5 - which is of very little consequence considering there were usually not more than two or three T3s in such matches anyway, and they really were royally screwed (much much more than your average T5 is in a T7 match for example).

I wouldn't give up LS on any DD for anything. Ever. But, as a 17th point skill instead of TAE it's definitely a viable choice. AFT is definitely viable on IJN DDs because stealth firing with HE and ballistics as good as theirs is awesome. Also gives you more options for what to do playstyle wise. You'd have to be careful not to overdo it though - giving away your rough position even without being actually spotted is dangerous, and can also make ships turn out of your torpedoes because now they know a DD is near them. DE is in my opinion clearly inferior to that - you already have good fire chance so what's the point really?

the 3% is actually preeeetty siginificant on 'lanta because of how comparatively little she has base. And yes, AFT won't get you that many extra hits probably. Then again, moon arcs mean you can spam from behind islands pretty happily... dunno probably worth testing tho, especially these days with the discount on retraining!

When I did a bit of testing, hitting Belt seemed to roughly cut your chances of fire in half, but it's definitely still possible.

oh come on... still you're not happy? WG got flakk for the forced complete reset last time because it was tedious to redo every single captain, so now they allow you to do it on any captain you want to for basically free (even captains that aren't even affected at all). Most people won't have more than four or five captains that "need" the respec particularly badly, so for most it will actually be a net gain in dubloons if they just respec those that do need it - or you get an amazing discount of 96% on all your current respec needs.

that's one 15pt captain too many for me sadly - I think I'll stay at Fletcher... or maybe make the jump to Gearing once another DD sale forces me to
-
correct, not sure about how much more exactly either but they do take more

seconded - Benson is a ship you definitely want to keep, just in case you want to do Team battles or Ranked returns to T8. Fletcher has two main advantages over Benson, both of which are huge: 1) Its torpedoes are miles and miles and miles better, for two reasons. They're much faster and a bit longer ranged, and you can mount the 3m torp reload upgrade so they reload a LOOOOOOT quicker (completely caught me off guard how often I had torps available when I made the switch!) 2) It gets access to Defensive AA while keeping five guns.

MM - Good team players win matches, not tiers
Tyrendian89 replied to xenopathia's topic in General Discussion
and you're mixing two aspects here - the competitive side and the casual side. For the competitive side, I totally agree with you - having a challenge is very important to keep things interesting and players interested. But the amount of players that are "ready" (both in terms of mindset and of skill) for this kind of competitive setting isn't all that big - especially in a game with a significant historical component/appeal like WoWS. That's not everyone's cup of tea, and that it happens to be yours should not blind you to the fact that people are very much different. Telling people to "go away and play PvE games" is exactly the attitude we don't need here if we want to keep the game alive. Sure, WoWS could profit from having some more thought-out and mature competitive features - but if that comes at the cost of alienating a very significant portion of the player base that has zero interest in that sort of thing, then that's not good for the game in the slightest. -
also, don't forget WG are removing the other big dubloon sink with 5.9 as well - since retraining high skill captains to new ships is now actually more than feasible with the new cap (and the real problem of SA not working also gone). So, hell yes I feel okay spending some money on Scharnhorst (heck, and König Albert and Dunkie too probably...)

your point being?

so, maybe now all those that keep crying about WG being greedy basterds will finally fut the shuck up? I doubt it, but who knows...

that. I most certainly don't want nonsense like that on EU, especially since we see enough "fine folks" in here already talking about how to abuse it - with negative impacts on both the image of WG (ho-hum, whatever damage can be done there...), and heavily on gameplay in low-mid tiers if people seriously start to compete for first place in that. -
