ELECTRIFIED's karma farming Tutorial feat. [edited]

I'm admittedly interested in the story behind the "Skybuck Seal of Approval"
  2. small sample size. Also, someone has to balance things out for all the whiney T5 drivers that are "ALWAYS BOTTOM TIER NOW!!!!!11one"

Comparison of AA strengths of T8 battleships

agreed in full AFT does also have the amusing but not exactly gamewinning benefit of making your secondaries pewpew at longer ranges, which might net you the occasional fire...

Comparison of AA strengths of T8 battleships

except it doesnt work like that. AA only targets one squadron with each aura, regardless of focusing. It's just DefAA that panics every squadron in range, but even then damage only goes to one squadron per aura. And while these straight up number comparisons are doubtless very useful, there's another factor that helps AFT be the (in my opinion) "better choice" over Manual AA on NC and probably also Amagi. Your math only works out exactly like that in a vacuum (which isn't a critique of your method at all!). Planes almost never go straight towards one ship, drop immediately and then go straight back out. Angles of aproach are adjusted, planes will sometimes hover nearby picking the best (i.e. least maneuvering) target, fighter battles go on - and in all of those cases, AFT can and will allow more of your AA auras to take effect for a much longer period than usual. Besides, ships with insane AA like the NC can also protect nearby allies much much better when their insane AA reaches out to double the map area (which is what the math works out to with AFT+AA range module). Again, not a critique of your work at all - seeing the actual numbers nicely formatted is very good - but more of an additional/side perspective.

for now they are... I don't think WG expect her to sell without giving us any (gameplay) reason to buy her, so I assume Eugen will end up having some sort of trick up her sleeve. Repair is probably too much to dream of right? God I'd be all over that ship...

There's no way Tirpitz has 56 AA rating.

thing is, and this is purely personal observation across lotsa ships, DP turrets tend to get broken very little these days - and since almost all of her AA comes from those, Derpitz AA is actually very resilient I feel like.

    Capping reward and torp speed

didnt do any testing, but to me at least the F3s feel just as fast as they say on the tin... might be an interesting experiment to try though regarding perception of different torps: take a bunch of DDs and a "target" into a training room, position the target centrally and all DDs at equal distances from it, then everyone fires their torps simultaneously - and the target gets a good feel for which torps are spotted earlier etc. Not really any data to be gained, but might be interesting to record and share as a "perspective" on torps regardless.

    Tier IV clemson class destroyer

slightly less crap, because the AP is admittedly awesome - but that "slightly" doesnt make up for going one tier higher, and it remains firmly in "crap" territory sadly

    Tier IV clemson class destroyer

probably the single most striking piece of evidence that those ratings are complete and utter garbage and should be completely removed because they're only one thing: misleading new players.

    german battleships

oh noes! he mentioned flags! here goes!
  12. That is very "last year". Beginning with Hipper C hull, high tier German HE these days is very solid - and they sling a very substantial number of shells your way. Not saying Hindenburg is the equal of Zao in terms of burninating stuff, but you're not nearly as far off as you were before whichever patch it was that upgraded the HE shells. Overall I would probably put Hindenburg in second place among the T10 cruisers in terms of firestarting - you don't quite have the RoF of a Des Moines, but you have a much much easier time hitting things at longer ranges.

    phoenix vs omaha

no, the main advantage of C hull is the extra range. which you desperately need in a ship as squishy as the Omaha.

Do all T7 - T9 cruisers play the same way

They are indeed very different, at least beyond the obvious "try not to get citadel'd" part. A short general overview of the lines and their respective T7 representatives: IJN tend to be stealthy with really got HE and long(ish) range Torpedoes but bad angles on those. Basically, try out the Myoko and you know what you're getting - the ships just get better at it pretty much. Germans are pretty tanky (for cruisers) with amazing AP (except Yorck) and (after Hipper C hull) decent HE plus great torp angles that make them fearsome up close. Yorck is a really odd one - not a horrible ship but plays very differently from the others because of its abysmal AP. RU cruisers have more barrels and higher RoF than the others which makes them very proficient HE spammers, but they tend to handle like whales (as in, Yamato level turning circles) and have really bad armour. Stay at max range and plink away. Very strong line though if you know what you're doing. Shchors doesnt do anything differently than what I just said for the line. USN cruisers are... whelp. They are meant to be Jacks of All Trades with good AP shells and AA, but they... kinda... don't really work. I mean, they can punish broadsides very well at short ranges, but from farther away you tend to get moon arcs and thus often have trouble hitting things. Also, lack of Torps means you're in trouble up close unless you can citadel the opposition to hell. Pensacola at T7 is also very very squishy - my favourite ship to nuke in any given Battleship. Also, German cruisers get massively improved Hydroacoustic Search which makes them virtually immune to Torpedoes and amazing at pushing DD smokes, and from T8 onwards USN and RU get Radar which is also pretty handy.

    Help/advice please

sidenote, playing with other people in a division tends to help both your fun and your success rate. There's an ingame "Forumites" channel for example where you can almost always find people to team up with, and with the shiny new Division Voicechat you dont even need Teamspeak anymore
  16. you're just saying that because you're trying to reverse psychology WG into releasing RN earlier by saying you dont want them right?

I would assume you have to be a WG employee in the right department to get that kind of info...

okay point taken, you're roughly on the same size as me there and here's where we dont start a discussion about which of those would win in an inter-universe fight

    Current poor implementation of Cyclones

I have to agree about some Cyclones coming in too early, sometimes barely after first contact. And they also last too long imho - going pretty much the entire (usually) active period of a match, i.e. between first contact and mop-up, with a cyclone active just goes waaay overboard. That said, most of the cyclones I've been in have been positive in terms of adding fun to the respective match - mainly by putting me in ridiculous situations like being in a Kutuzov and getting literally bumrushed by two Montanas and a Yamato. Didnt end well, but with the right spirit those situations can be fun as hell

Terpitz to much despertion? what you think?

there's not much rumor-esque about that... the stats for the entire line have been datamined and posted multiple times... and yes: Bismarck and up get 7km base secondary range with volume of fire similar to Derpitz, so that'll be very very fun (if not super effective because... well... secondaries)
  23. probably +-1 to still allow some variations - otherwise it would be unduly hard for friends in the early stages of their career (i.e. with few ships in port) to div up with eachother, and +-1 was never too much of a problem either imho.

    Tashkent has problems with awards?

in most, like Kiev and Udaloi, yes. In Trashcan? What maneuverability? Insane speedboatyness is nice to get into caps first tho assuming you spawned reasonably close to them, and that's where the island cover Pete mentioned comes in handy (because you are still spotted from the moon..)
