Do you notice the occasional "stuttering" / "hiccups" / "Temporary FPS drops" during the battle in game?
Yxkraft replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I have this occasionally. (with a clean computer). Seems that wargaming has server congestion again. Protip: Clean your CPU and GPU heatsink from dust and hair (if you have pets), if your CPU/GPU risk overheating there is circuitry onboard that forcibly downclocks it to reduce heat output. This will give smooth fps when its just you but bad stutter when you run into lots of action. Its also a good idea to blow away the dust on your motherboard because the power circuitry on a motherboard has to handle a lot of power, thats why there are heatsinks on some motherboards. For the CPU heatsink, remove the fan on top, for the GPU, all you can do is to blow air and use a metal tool (because of static risk) to pry away hair. Do not forget to discharge any static load you have before and when you work with your pc and never use a vacuum sucker inside your computer because it generates lots of static electricity. Use a can of dust remover to blow the dust out of the case, then you can suck it up.- 188 replies

Cossack turrets do 180 degrees in 9 seconds without upgrades or skills. IIRC Benson is 12 and Akizuki is 11, Kagero is 30.
-
Lots of 26 mm armor, this ship is slow, easy to hit, and will be overpenetrated by 38 cm guns. It will suffer against not just Sinop but also Nagato and Colorado, two ships that struggle against Sinop.
-
I can explain this. An enemy ship fires at you 1 second before you go invisible, he has full accuracy since he fires with lock on, and the shells arrive 7-8 seconds later when you think you are safe and boom.

he spam How to tackle constant HE spam from CL, DD and CV.
Yxkraft replied to T_Jiwankar's topic in General Discussion
Well, yes, if you have a fire already going in location x you cannot have another fire going there. But my point was that it is so likely for a spammer to set you on fire again that it would make more sense if the fire protection skills reduced the direct damage you took from fire instead of reducing the duration of the fire. And the upgrades are multiplicative, its 50% innate reduction * 0.85 = .425 if you have both ship upgrade and captain skill. Using my previous example, the chance of getting set on fire again after 10 hits would be 29% instead of 33%. (1- 0.966^10) -
This is because of innate game mechanics punishing ships broadsiding to other ships. It means that you cannot disengage without risking instasinking, so you have to do a suicide run instead to maximize the damage you do before you get sunk.

Reducing the fire duration does not help much when you are under a constant stream of shells, you will reignite pretty fast. F.ex smolensk base fire chance is 8%, you have a t10 with no fire reduction probability, his firechance is reduced to 4% by your innate 49.95% fire probability reduction, the likelihood of him setting you on fire after 10 shell hits is still 33%. (1 -0.96^10). I think it would make more sense if these skills/upgrades reduced the damage taken from fire by reducing direct damage instead of reducing the time fire is active. -
I had that happen to me too in previous T7 full ranked, it was a Lyon that sunk himself in the start by shooting my bb. We went on to win with one man short. I guess there has been an influx of teenage players.
-
I looked at Champagne in the port, the armor scheme is comparable to Tier 6/7 bbs. 25 mm bow and stern armor means that if you try to bow tank someone who is 38 cm or larger, he will just shoot straight into your bow and get guaranteed penetrations. As a tier 8 bb, she is too weak, and as a tier 8 cruiser, she is too large and strong against capital ships. Ships like these should really be tier 9/10 supercruisers. The Dunquerque which is a Tier 6 bb should also have been a tier 9-10 supercruiser.

They already have the game engine mechanics necessary to check for line of sight betwen ships and spotting conditions. The game does this for every frame.

Superficial? Lord Solar Macharius is the name of the protagonist ship in the Gothic War books, His Will (Be Done) is another backstory name, Fist of Macragge, well that is the only one I actually made up of these loyalist names. And there are plenty of Macragge something ships in the Ultramarines fleet. The prime ship of the Ultramarines is the Gloriana class Macragge's Honor. Here is the backstory for Ignis Purgatio: Originally designed for a Naval mission of the purpose now long forgotten, VIII Ignis Purgatio was lost during the Horus Heresy. After missing for several millennia, the ship was rediscovered on one of the Frontier worlds in the Jericho Reach. Though clearly a warship, it was put to use as a transport by its new, uncouth masters who failed to recognize its true potential. After undergoing intensive repairs and cleansing its quarters of its previous inhabitants, Ignis Purgatio was eventually returned to Imperial Navy service and, since then, it has become an essential component of Battlefleet Solar. Once again, it acts as a fearsome guard dog for humanity and, by proxy, the Emperor Himself. It was lost but it was recognized as the Imperium maintains ship databases going back to before the Horus Heresy, so Ignis Purgatio could very well be its original name. And spaceships do not get lost on bodies of water, I dont know where you got that from.

Judging by its stats it is a Scharnhorst with a marginally better secondary battery. As long as there are cruisers available it will rack up damage, but if the matchup has few cruisers it will suffer. Its T8 so it will meet BBs with 2x its hp that will squish it.

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)

Never ranked out yourself yet you talk down to me, mr Sprint. I try different ships, different classes and different tactics in ranked because it is the most competitive place. In latest ranked I tried different things until I ranked out with Gneisenau at 58% win rate and 20% save star. You have never ranked out so you do not know how hard it is.- 106 replies

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)
Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
The problem with CVs is that they can attack but they cannot defend or deny spot since they do not have fighters any more. The consumables are static and dropped off as spotters in uncontested caps or occasionally over a friendly DD if a squad happens to pass close.- 106 replies

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)
Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
I was going to write an answer, then I remembered that I could check your skill level. You do not play competitive modes, you have two ranked sprints, that is all. Of course you do not understand when I say that you use the island to reverse direction because randoms do not require such maneuvers. Ranked is much harder than randoms, particulary at more elite tiers.- 106 replies

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)
Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
Dear Tier 1 captain, I originally wrote that the very game model makes the game static because maneuvering requires turning which requires showing broadside, and showing broadside gets you sunk because of WGs armor and artillery modeling. Your response was to turn behind an island. Now you have started to produce increasingly more contorted sophistry to save your stern when I explain why "turning behind an island" isnt an answer to a poor game model. Please go back to the harbor.- 106 replies

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)
Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
Noi, I wrote that you can go full reverse power pretty fast. The backing turbine on a Halland class destroyer had an effect of 10 000 shaft horsepower. You could throw the machinery into 10 000 hp reverse while doing 30 knots. In wows you have to wait for the machinery to spin down (60 sec for a bb) before it starts to produce backing power. This makes "parking maneuvers" very time consuming.- 106 replies

You ram the island because it instantly removes all your forward momentum. Much faster than reversing and using your rudder to slow down.- 106 replies

You could give the CV 12 km primaries, most of them have a battery of medium AAA guns that presently are just secondaries.

Has Wargaming given up with even attempting to balance the game? (part 1?)
Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
Do you know how big an island has to be to cover the turn of a large cruiser or BB? If it isnt big enough, you need to turn, ram it at one edge, shift your rudder, put engine into reverse, back to other edge, stop, shift rudder, go forward, if you have not turned enough you need to stop, shift rudder, back until you hit island, shift rudder, go forward and now you have turned. That takes several minutes.- 106 replies

Yxkraft replied to Srgt_Misfire's topic in General Discussion
Also, this is why the game is so static. Maneuvering does not work. You cannot disengage without showing broadside, and if you do you will get deleted or at least take very heavy damage. And the playerbase thinks this is perfect. Then they whine about battles being stale standoffs.- 106 replies

The turn radius of a bb or even a cruiser is so large that the basic small island is not enough. It just ends up being used as a hull-down position. DD does not need island to hide his turn.- 106 replies
