    Terrain masking, avoiding rapid gundfire spammers and torpedoes. If you have played BB you would understand what they do. Some BBs cannot expose themselves since they cannot angle against certain other bbs at tier 7.

The submarine warfare modeling is just demented, world war 1 and 2 subs had (with few exceptions) a performance of about 18-20 knots on the surface and 8-10 below (but only at the price of quick battery drain and greatly increased flow and engine noise). Being a sub was lurking around on the surface or running on snorkel (if you had one), diving for planes and if you got forced to dive without being in intercept position, just watching enemy ships pass by. Defensive measures was diving below salt and temperature layers which bounce and attenuate sound waves and if you were a german, ejecting cartridges that generated gas in contact with water, essentially making an underwater smoke cloud. The introduction of the type XXI and XXIII submarines by the germans changed submarine warfare radically because they were supposed to perma-fight below the sea. They had dramatically increased undewater performance, wire guided torpedoes and the ability to rapidly reload torped tubes. The XXI could do 17 knots underwater for one hour and had a creep engine for lurking silently at 4 knots. Post world war 2 submarines gained the ability to attack each other reliably even if deeply submerged and nuclear propulsion made them surface independent. In WOWs, every submarine has nuclear propulsion and guided torpedoes. There is no thermocline, there is no hiding, there is just a garbage arcade mode that seems to be based on some kind of flight simulator where your aircraft is equipped with semi-active radar homing missiles. The wows submarine mode is greatly inferior to playing 688 attack submarine ( a game from 1988!). I sunk my first submarine by running to his position, stopping and dropping depthcharges, sitting there in water detonations pressing G until he was gone. They have a huge area of effect and dont harm your own ship (unlike in real life) so just stop and spam. But beware, he can sink you at point blank by launching torpedoes and ping you. Since he wont miss his ping the torps will hit you for 100% damage and there is no dodging. What is the play in this? Wargaming have developers but you do not have game designers. Developing is something you learn in programming school, game design is an art that requires talent that you have to be born with to be counted as good, just like music.

    Which rank do you play at? I guess its a rather low one? Then you should have no problems carrying. If you play DD, go for a gun heavy DD that can chase down and outgun other DDs. When you play ranked you will find that the skill level of your opponents rise noticeably as you rise in ranks with big jumps as you change bracket. You will need to adjust your tactics depending on the particular meta that is current in your bracket.

    WG should reduce Yamato's citadel

    Eh? You dont slant-tank with Yamato as you do with f.ex Montana or Conqueror. You bow-point tank with Yamato. You can still get citadelled from the bow by another Yamato since there is a small area that is penetrable from the front by other Yamatos and Mushashis. The thing that really annoys me with slow turret traverse is that you lose the ability to engage fleeting targets of opportunity and that it is faster to aim the guns by turning the entire ship as if you were an 17th century ship of the line. It is sooooo annoying when you are forced into such play by the ship. Also, with Yamato and Musahshi, you are doing it wrong if you are closer than 15 km from the enemy. These ships are stand off bombardment platforms by their design. They are double punished from going closer by slow turret traverse and high exposed citadel that prevents them from turning.

    I would rather have a turret turn rate increase. Playing ships with slow turrets is awful. For some odd reason Mushashi has 2.5 deg/sec while Yamato has 3.

    Strange mystery of unknown origin

    The thing with Moskva (and Stalingrad since it is basically the same hull) is that it has a huuuuge overwater full beam citadel that is absurdly easy to hit. Since the 50 mm deck and sides does not cover beyond the turrets you can also eat citadels trough the front and back if you are unlucky. They both also have 14+ km minimum detection range with max stealth upgrades. This seriously limits your ability to maneuver on the map since you risk instant deletion if you turn and you have to stay at 20 km or be permaspotted by a dd that is honking for your deletion. Most players that I meet that use these ships usually parks them next to an island and use only the front turrets. IMHO, no cruiser should have an overwater citadel, because it seriously cripples the gameplay if you cannot disengage from a bad situation by turning away. You can still easily citadel cruisers with underwater citadels but only at range, up close you have to hit the turrets or the barbettes.

    0.9.3 - Ranked Sprint

    I liked this ranked sprint. Arms race is a superior game mode since it gives more dynamic to the game and the capspawn forces players to converge on a single objective. Skill levels in ranked sprint was and is less than in regular ranked and I ranked out far too soon from this sprint despite trying ships that were not that good. Perhaps next time less safe ranks. I noted that most players had no idea that picking buffs counts as sinking half a DD in terms of cap points. Having one DD on your team that did nothing but running around picking buffs while the opponents had only ship-hunting DDs usually gave your team the victory.

    Turrets seeming to be incap a lot more frequently

    Lots of people do not understand that without primary arnament protection your main guns are going to be real easy to destroy. In the last round of ranked I (in yamato) encountered a full secondary kurfust with secondary arnament protection, I deleted both his front turrets when he closed with me, and since he could not turn without getting 6x460 mm penetrations he tried to back away while the 1/4 of his secondaries that could bear on me pelted me with shells. I eventuall sunk him by aiming for his rear turrets trough his superstructure. You cannot go outside without main arnaments protection because if you do you will lose your main battery very easy and then you are just a big waddling target that cannot shot back. Secondaries are a meme because they are easily deleted by HE from any gun that can penetrate the 4-25 mm armor that they have. Fast firing Harugumos, Smolensks, Minoutars etc will sweep them in no time and it only takes 1 salvo from a Thunderer to delete half of your secondaries and your light AAA. I once lost one of the big secondary turrets in the rear of a Jean bart when it was hit by 1 100 mm HE shell from a tier 9 japanese gun destroyer. I was disgusted, these secondaries were basically as well protected as cruiser turrets in RL.

    Kremlin secondaries and AAA lost 50% of their HP 2 patches ago. IMHO they should have reduced main gun range on Kremlin by 5-10% instead of nerfing this.

    Please remove the Ocean map

    Ocean map requires team coordination for best outcome. Games can be very good on this map. It is actually a map where a "lemming train" works better than scattering everywhere.

    Broken ranked, some questions to WG...

    You need 5 heal powerups before you start to heal fast enough to offset 1 fire no matter your ship class. Maximum number of powerups are 6. The heal powerups benefit cruisers and especially DDs more than they benefit battleships since the latter already have a heal ability and some games have no heal spawns at all.

    How is your Ranked Season 15 coming along?

    The BBs you should not play are GK and Montana. Thunderer is an OK pick but Conq is better. The performance spread of tier X bbs is huge.

    I liked it because it made the game more dynamic as players were forced to pick up buffs instead of sitting in their favorite camping position.
  16. The swedish torps are very fast but they have literally Tier 5 damage potential at Tier 10. If you have a full hp Tier 10 DD with extra HP captain skill you can take two swedish torps and still be afloat.
  17. Dude I have played ranked and reached rank 1 a couple of times. I know that a DD that cannot kill other DDs or even cruisers is not a good DD. The skill level in randoms is just one step up above coop.
  18. People do not use the targeting module because it doesnt really help. The WG solution is to scrap and replace it with this hack, not fix the targeting modules shortcomings. It seems that WG developers thinks that the targeting module should give great torpedo awareness,. but instead of buffing it and see how players react they introduce this game model breaker that goes against the grain of the game, just like deepwater torpedoes. Remember that the WG game design guys do not play this game and they are too clueless to realize that if you dont understand how the game works introducing hacks is risking trashing it.

    The Asashio; Not a Hack ship.

    Deepwater torpedoes are a hack. And ashashio is a hack by derivation. Playing random is just one step above playing coop. Come back and play ashashio when we have a regular ranked season featuring tier 8. You have only one ranked battle in ashashio. I want to see you try contesting caps and battle DDs. Claiming that a ship is good because you can harvest random battle simpletons is just nonsense and shows how little you understand.
  20. I dont have an ashashio because I do not spend money on retarded ships but you have spent money on both ashashio and ashashio B. I have fought against ashahio in BB in ranked and I cringe every time there is one on my team and I do not fear one on the enemy team. You see, WASD, angling and speed up/down works as well against ashahio as it does against regular DDs. You have to keep track of where the enemy DDs are spotted. I checked your stats, you dont really play ranked, you stop at rank 10 unless its sprint. I guess you duo trough sprints? And you have only played 1 ranked game with ashashio. My conclusion is that you are whats commonly called a "whale".
  21. A kagero can scout just as well as you (you are a kagero!) and also torpedo DDs and cruisers camping in smoke. You cannot. Ashashio is a crude hack ship meant to harvest straight sailing potato BBs in random. It works great for that but in ranked you get people who are far more difficult to hit because of manuvering and positioning. What happens if you play rank, 7 ship teams and there is only 1 bb in the team? What happens when you play rank and you are the only DD in the team? Its a single trick ship that is a sign of a developer team that have lost track. If there is an overpopulation of a certain ship class it is because the games natural dynamic promotes that. You fix this by expanding and tweaking the game model, not by making hacks, because when you do it properly, you fix it across all tiers and all classes . Its easy if you have the gift, next to impossible if you dont. Some day ill make a thread about simple game model changes and expansions so you can see what I mean.
  22. Kurfurst have piss poor turret armor, you will lose them at long range if you dont have main battery upgrade. You can get main turret kills on german bbs without main battery upgrade at up to 20 km range with yamato or musashi. I once killed the main turret of a bismarck with a new mexico at 12 km. I have tried both upgrades and my conclusion is that the main battery upgrade is the only one viable even on yamato. If you dont have it you will also have disables far more often and you will have your turret out of action for a while.
  23. That upgrade is useless because you will lose your main turrets way too easily when you are in secondary range and your main turrets are your only real weapons.
