I assume that that stat is only like that because people who don't know anything about high tier cruiser gameplay play the Atago. In my opinion, the Atago is OP.

I want to see the face of the person responsible for the new sounds in 0.5.3.2
Ictogan replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps the sound guys just tried to see how bad a sound they could make and still get it approved to be in the game. -
So please tell me how I still manage to kill a lot of cruisers in a single salvo when playing BBs even though I have good stats. Shouldn't your "noob bonus" prevent that?

TEAM Battle . suggestion to add a "Spectate" option
Ictogan replied to Maston_1's topic in General Discussion
This would be pretty awesome. It could also be used for the leader of the team, because it's easier to give orders while not actually having to play a ship yourself. -
High level overview Mostly plays cruisers, especially medium-tier and is excellent in them Deals an above average amount of damage Extremely rarely uses torpedoes Key vehicle - Mutsuki

Interesting topic from Reddit - "The WR Matchmaking Engine Myth" (for those who are mathematical / statistical inclined)...
Ictogan replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
From what I've read that document only describes the probability of a certain thing in a random system happening, not how to predict the randomness. In fact, it says in the beginning: We assume that in any particular individual trial of the experiment, the outcome for that individual trial cannot be predicted or known before hand - it is controlled by chance. So, in fact that document says that the events that are described in it CAN'T be predicted. And that is also the (imo) most logical definition of random: not predictable. The document describes how to calculate probabilities of things happening - but it still can't predict which will actually happen. And a computer can only compute the data it receives in binary states, which makes it in no way possible to get an unpredictable/random number. That's why rng algorithms are also called "pseudo random".- 95 replies

No. The same amount of damage is applied to both ships.

It depends on the speed and the maximum HP of the ship with the lower maximum HP. The same damage is applied to both ships and the maximum possible damage is the maximum HP of the ship with the lower maximum HP.

Patch 0.5.3.2 incoming - Russian cruiser preview

Don't really like the new camos. Before, you had to make a choice which camo fits the ship with your play style better. Now it's possible to simply get both. -
If you have Atago, do you still recommend Mikhail Kutuzov ?
Ictogan replied to JubaM24's topic in General Discussion
How to counter a MK firing from outside your range at you in an Atago: just keep your bow pointed at the MK. You will barely take damage as the armor on the front superstructure is pretty decent so HE won't do a lot of direct damage and you are faster than the MK, so you will eventually catch up and get in range. I rarely see MKs as an annoyance in my Atago. -
Btw does anyone know whether the Bismarck will get any of the specs better than the Tirpitz? Historically, it wouldn't make sense, but from a game balance point of view it's necessary.

The Atago is also very good at spamming HE. Quite frankly the only big advantage that the Kutuzov has is it's range. -

Never played the MK, but I'm just wrecking any MKs that I meet in my Atago. -
Not sure whether you were just joking, but that link is to an earlier cruiser called Izumo. The bb we have in game is just a paper design.

ARP Hiei 16 points captain, but already have one
Ictogan replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
No need to retain anything, all ARP captains can be used in all ARP ships without retaining. I think I will just wait and see which further ARP ships we will see in the future and then decide for which ship I will skill my 16 point captain. -

Ictogan replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
Is it +16 or is it just set to 16? Because +16 would mean that it would be possible to get a 19 point captain relatively easily that way. -
Giving a sub BB top speeds would be historically inaccurate. They were usually a lot slower.

I dislike the suggestion, because it would encourage more people to fire their torps from second line and then just press the button to warn the person in the path of the torpedoes. If that person gets hit after he had been warned it's his own fault, right? I've had to show my broadside often enough while dodging friendly torps and I wouldn't want to do it even more often in the future. Heck, often I just don't dodge friendly torps because I'm busy angling my armor, dodging hostile torpedoes and/or watching out for incoming torp bombers. In these cases simply taking the friendly torpedoes does less damage than dodging it.

I think that it will either only be available during some special event or seeker is trolling us.

That would be A) completely unrealistic and B) would turn battleships into heavier armored versions of heavy cruisers.

Haven't played any t8+ except Hipper, but the arcs on the Hipper are just great. But watch out for the Yorck - it has terrible arcs with AP but pretty good arcs with HE. I like the Yorck, but it's very different from all the other German ships as the AP is unusable at ranges above 8km.

Earlier today I played in my Amagi. On my flank there were three allied CAs, no enemy spotted. However there were torps incoming and I could tell from the amount of torps that there was a Hatsuharu and a Fubuki on my side of the map. So I try to stay behind the cruisers, hoping that they would spot torps for me. However, the cruisers constantly stayed 2-3km behind me. After a few minutes, I just decided to retreat and go to another part of the map, because charging in with a bb against two IJN DDs is just suicidal. Two of the three cruisers also retreated, one actually was staying in the area and after some time he actually went ahead. Was really a shame, two destroyers managed to stop a battleship and two cruisers from going into their cap.

Expert marksman was changed, but only for ships with main batteries between 140mm and 155mm.

A few days ago I destroyed all turrets on an Izumo in my Amagi . I still got rekt though because there were quite a few other hostile ships in the area.
