You are just looking at the armor belt from the inside. Unlike e.g. the Bismarck there's no second armor plate at that location, you're literally looking through a hole at the inside of the same plate you can see on the outside. At least that applies to some other ships and I believe it applies to Amagi as well.

DirectX 11 or even 12 support for this game in the (near) future?
Ictogan replied to FrankMVenlo's topic in General Discussion
A switch to directX 11 or 12 would be very expensive and yield very little benefit for WG, so why should they do it? -
We've got too many BBs in the game at the moment, so what to do? Buff them of course!

CVs are still beasts. They never been anything less then that.
Ictogan replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
CV gameplay is just designed in a shitty way. They are still very strong, but what's annoying about playing them is that there's very often situations where you can do literally nothing at all to enemy ships because they are all staying together for AA cover. Of course there are also situations where you can't really do anything in other ships, but for CVs these situations are far more common. -
Ok, how about a game mechanic where one side looses by default then because it has to retreat because of unfavourable weather conditions?
-
A shell doesn't have to hit your magazine to detonate you, HE/Torpedo splash damage is enough. You can be detonated by a shell that doesn't even hit you. And yes, the chances of detonating are low, but that doesn't make it a good mechanic. WG could also give a 0.5% for a battle simply ending as a draw 1 minute into the battle because the nations signed a peace contract in the time. Now would that be fun? It would be rare, so it can't be that bad, right?

Based on realistic events. Cause this game is always historically accurate. Especially when it comes to things like ships having HP bars. And what if I told you that I have a solid understanding of stochastic and still absolutely hate detonations? Surprise: I also know that it is both realistic and very improbable that I get disconnected from the servers during any given battle. Does that make it good get randomly disconnected from battles due to the internet connection having problems? The difference here being that it's pretty much impossible to completely prevent internet problems from happening, but preventing detonations from ever happening would require just a simple change in the game code by WG.

I just didn't consider WOT that enjoyable. And this MM did finally make me decide to stop playing it:
-
It was the same in the last season. For people who reached rank one there's a special league with rank 10s.

This game was pretty nice, carried it together with Reyte. -

Ranked Battles S5 [all rank battle topics merged]
Ictogan replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
Made it from rank 15 to rank 10 today. Now something trells me I won't quite be able to keep going at the same pace. -
This is how you should react:

WG Killed the khaba. Do NOT ever free XP it, don't even try to grind it, it ain't worth it.
Ictogan replied to adanhael's topic in Destroyers
Your hit rate is gonna be too low to constantly sustain fires on BBs when firing from 13km or even 10km. US DDs shine when firing from smoke because their smoke is by far the best one and they can get close enough to make their shell arcs not matter when using smoke. Firing from outside your detection range with USN DDs is a nice gimmick that can be used once every few battles, but not one that you should base a significant amount of your damage on. -

Ictogan replied to adanhael's topic in Destroyers
Gearing with AFT? I'm still at the Uda but just 20k XP away from the Khaba and I don't think I'll have too many problems with it, even with the range nerf. -
Just decided to actually test it in a training room. Rammed Erie with my Uda at ~2 knots and did only 18 damage with that. Rammed him again at ~10kts and did around 2k damage. Speed DEFINITELY is a factor. It does seem to increase exponentially with speed, likely capping off at the maximum HP of the ramming ship, which would explain why it usually seems that the damage done is the maximum HP of the enemy ship because most rams in random battles happen at significantly more than 10 knots.
-
Actually speed DOES matter. I once rammed a Hatsuharu in my Fletcher while being on 10k health and survived it. Only possible reason? Very low relative speed.
-
You are surprised? After they received a major overhaul of course they would need some more testing before being released.

1. NC is more accurate than Bismarck due to having a Sigma of 2.0. Also keep in mind that NC has longer range than Bismarck which makes the difference in dispersion look larger than it is. 2. Bismarck secondaries are way stronger than NC's secondaries. They have a lot more range. 3. The higher survivability of Bismarck is due to the way better armor layout. Imo NC guns are much better than Bismarck guns. But it's true that these ratings are complete BS which barely even gives a rough idea of the strength of a ship and can't be used to make comparisons between ships at all.

Low experience for CVs with fighters
Ictogan replied to anonym_O8tf3somLU6N's topic in General Discussion
Fighter loadouts simply don't work because even if you shoot down every single plane from the enemy CV, it just means that neither CV can do any fanfare and thus you are just turning it into a 11v11 where neither carrier has any impact. And if the enemy CV manages even a single attack, he will already have done more damage than you did in the entire battle, so his team will have an advantage. WG is still trying to make them work for some reason even though the very concept of them just doesn't work. -
I'm listening to all kinds of music while gaming. Metal(Black Sabbath, Sabaton, Amon Amarth, Equilibrium, etc., etc.) Touhou circles(UNDEAD CORPORATION, アクティブNEETs, MyonMyon, Demetori, Foreground eclipse, etc.) Classical music(Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, etc.) And some rock(ACDC, Die Toten Hosen, Europe, Russkaja, etc.)
-
I'd rather explain it like this: very good players can have more than 100% more impact on battles than average players by having lots of skill, but bad players can't have more than 100% less impact on their battles than average players(unless they actively sabotage their team). Also, people with bad win rates are more likely to hide their stats and thus you are less likely to find out that there are people with a 40%- win rate than ones with 60%+ by looking up the stats of random players.

Try popping smoke right after the cooldown runs out. Usually when you do that it takes an extra few seconds for the smoke to actually be available.

I've only played a few battles in the Bayern but it seems like a very good ship to me. Just that it attracts bad battles a lot - detonate from a single torp, get focused by an Independence and a Ranger(both strike), entire enemy team is running away so you try to catch up to them and OHSHITTHERESTILLWASAKAMIKAZEINTHISAREA?!? But when I'm not having that kind of battle it performs very well. Sure, it won't citadel other BBs but it will still do good penetration damage. And it's tanky as [edited]so you don't need to worry about getting into a fight against higher tier BBs. Also I don't really understand why people complain about her being so inaccurate. Yes, she is inaccurate, but Bismarck, Gneisenau and quite a few other German BBs are just as inaccurate.

I use the main battery mod, although I see both as good choices. I'd say that the main battery mod is best for builds that can rely on their guns to damage larger ships(read: using DE) and torpedo mod is best for other builds, so you always have the tools to fight cruisers/battleships. I don't see a point in the AA mod as it means giving up on one of two very good mods for just boosting your AA DPS from bad to still pretty bad.
