You are in queue for battle and there you will remain all eternity mr cv player
Syrchalis replied to MelGibson's topic in General Discussion
If CVs average damage was that of other ships, they would be utterly UP, because they can't tank damage for other ships and also can't cap points, because of how vulnerable they are once within firing range of ANY ship. People always forget that and think damage is everything a ship ever does. -
WG also doesn't understand how air superiority works. If a 3/0/2 Essex/Midway wins air superiority, they gained nothing, because it simply means it's even. It's extremely unlikely they can manage to do more damage with their two worthless divebombers than IJN can with their torpedo and dive bombers combined. In other words - air superiority is only worth something if it means you deal more damage than the enemy CV. If both deal zero then, that would be a draw, not a victory for one side. No Midway or Essex plays 3/0/2 because even if you win in the air, the IJN CV will still deal more damage and thus be worth more. So they really need to change that to 3/1/1. Meanwhile they could see how to nerf them.

US CVs T9/10: Faster, higher durability fighters Higher damage torpedo bombers Much better spread on torpedo bombers (hitting 12 torps is easy, doing that on IJN is nearly impossible) Twice the damage dive bombers (but slower) AA that can rival Montana or 2-3 Des Moines More reserve planes IJN CVs T9/10: Faster dive bombers (aka weak bombers) More concealment 0.41 increases plane servicing and launching time for IJN only. Also fighters get an ability to counter many small squads, which allows Essex/Midway with 1/2/2 Layout to become invulnerable to IJN squads. AA will shoot down 4-10 planes already and with the AoE of fighters nothing will ever reach a midway. I don't see how a Hakuryu or Taiho has even a CHANCE to win.

This. 2/2/2 is a VERY good setup as you can see on my screenshot. You trade the best plane type for a fighter - it's not worth it.

Make low tier DDs torpedos spotted from a much greater distance or slow them down. This will help prevent those DDs OP threads and allow players to actually understand how to avoid torps at low levels. As it is now, they have barely even time to see the torps. Yes they can be easily avoided, but we are talking absolute beginners here. They need some hand-holding. Make high tier DDs torpedos be spotted from a much smaller distance or speed them up. Right now the reaction time increases, along with player skill. Which means that DDs become exponentially less effective in higher tiers. This is completely wrong. High tier players know what they are doing and if not, they deserve to be sunk by another player who knows what they are doing. So at least make it a challenge to avoid torps of DDs past T6.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but as any other class you actually do a lot at all points. As DD it's - get in position (mostly waiting), fire torps, wait for reload (again tons of waiting). Even BBs have 4-5x more stuff to do. For one they have more range and can shoot every 30sec. Then they also constantly need to aim which takes a lot of time and concentration. DD is simply 90% waiting, 10% doing things. And "driving" is not doing anything, it's waiting until you are where you want to be.
-
I can only speak for myself, but a major reason why I stopped at Sucksuki (Mutsuki) is because I had to wait 90 seconds to do something. It was so boring, I felt like I should play a second game next to WoWs, simply because most of the time I was simply driving. Cruise Ship Simulator basically.
-
The thing is - 90%, hell maybe even 99% don't enjoy sitting in a boat, hiding, only to fire torpedos every 2-3 minutes! And then pray they hit something. I certainly don't. I rather spam torpedos all day long and when they hit it hurts, but isn't a nightmare. This way I actually get to really interact with something, which is kinda what makes a game a game. This has little to do with tactics and skill, but with boredom. Doing nothing for several minutes in a game is really stupid.
-
I will quote myself - what DDs need is: Planes not revealing them completely, just showing their outline on the minimap - this gives counterplay for everyone who pays attention to the minimap, without ruining the DDs life Planes revealing torpedos from a much smaller distance Weaker torpedos with less reload time at high tiers - so they can threaten BBs more often with torps, not just 5-6 times a game Flip the goddamn reaction times
-
So then they should just make Kitakami the T10 of both DD trees, because that seems to be exactly the DD they want, right? (I'm not being serious)

Please, pre-patch was better.

Hosho vs Langley: zero fighter balance
Syrchalis replied to AlwaysBadLuckWithTeams's topic in Archive
What they need to do is to nerf the ammo of low tier fighters across the board - immensely so. Also buff all fighters damage. Basically do the opposite of what they did in the patch, just without increasing the difference between tiers. -

I have an Essex (USN T9) and an Hakuryu (IJN T10) and I cannot yet confirm this issue. I also had games with the OP. (No Platoon of course - can't put 2 CV in a platoon - just matchmaking). -
1. Is a bug or intended, waiting for WG to confirm 2. Is rear gunners having unlimited range. It's a bug.

How to make IJN carriers complete trash overnight FT. WG
Syrchalis replied to Last_Rites's topic in General Discussion
What makes me truly sad is that the only viable Hakuryu setup is 4/2/2 now. Whenever you get a choice and one becomes unviable it takes away so much from a game, as a game is all about interesting choices. On the flipside, I doubt anything but 1/2/2 is viable for Midway, as your dive bombers would never be able to compensate. -
Yes I have proposed this several times as well, but mostly as part of DDs OP! or DDs UP! threads, not as a seperate thread.
-
While I think the barrage skill needs some time to get used to before we can make good suggestions, I agree with the fighter damage. What's the point of playing fighter setup when you need half the game to shoot down a bomber squad?
-
And US CVs beat IJN at T9/10 before the patch - but they were fine or what? I regularly oneshot any T9 or lower BB in my Essex. Plus - TB turning rate of US is amazing. They turn like stunt planes or something. IJN turn really slow.
-
It says 1% on my Hakuryu Divebombers and 2% on my Essex Divebombers. Obviously those values are not correct.
-
Also I suggest playing carriers first before making claims like this. Low Tier planes have very small turning radii, but the faster they get the bigger it becomes. 200m given the ingame scaling is actually on the low side. High Tier Japanese bombers have a MUCH bigger radius than that. I don't see any value in a change like this to be honest. As a carrier you focus mostly on doing your damage, especially in higher tiers. Losing a plane more isn't going to stop you from doing the exact same thing as now.
-
Upcoming patch. Please read before writing stuff. You cannot NOT have fighters anymore.

Is MM going to mess with good players AGAIN?!?
Syrchalis replied to FaceFisted's topic in General Discussion
My suspicions were correct. Explains why often my team crushes the enemy completely and sometimes despite me doing 300k damage half my team is gone after 8 minutes.
