New Japanese Destroyers - a Sneak Peek
Sub_Eleven replied to voulezvous's topic in General Discussion
Two things stand out, the 33 knot speed and the low health on the new tier 9 ship. Not sure what a kagero has now, but my fletcher has 21k ish hp with SE so even when you subtract 3.6k that's well over 17k health. Am I mistaken or does that seem a bit on the low side? Would also like to echo the concerns raised by fellow forumites; what are you going to do with permanent camouflages purchased for the existing ships? and will players get a free new shiny tier 8 for example if the fubuki is bumbed down to tier 6? -
Just ignore the armchair admirals. As others have mentioned it is not worth losing a sizeable amount of your health just to get a cap and be useless the rest of the round. As a destroyer you should only pick fights which you can win. This morning some idiot (bismarck I think) was crying in chat at me to spot a full health fubuki, while my benson was down to 5k health. I could only outspot the fubuki by a couple of hundred meters (it didn't have CE), no chance in hell I would risk my ship for some battleboat who did nothing the entire game while I was sitting on 122k damage. Not gonna happen.

How do we train Battleship captains better?
Sub_Eleven replied to T3ddyBear's topic in General Discussion
Reduce map sizes to 30km x 30km. Let the slaughter commence -
It's by no means the best ship, but upgraded and with a 15 point captain she can be fun to play. And she has the looks as well. Free xp B hull if you haven't already, she's quite terrible stock. The masses of german bb's in queue can be a pain though, you need to rely on stealth alot.

Which of my "silver" ships should get these 15 point Captains assigned to them?
Sub_Eleven replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
Russian in Kirov or Buddy USN you could consider New Orleans. It's not a great ship perse, but with a 15 point captain and fully upgraded it certainly is fun to play (really need that 9.5 km concealment rating). If that is out of the question, go for the next best thing, the pepsi. -
Wait, we got the Fuso in game???
-
Gunsch! I play Fletcher more as a torpedo boat (captain on 16 points so no TAE yet) when I'm not knifefighting other dd's, Gearing more pew pew wise. Pondering to experiment with DE instead of SE as the amount of shell hits is just insane.

Could also have something to do with the stiffer competition at tier 8 with both the Atago and the Mikhail Kutuzov. Both are very good ships, and I doubt Belfast would sell well If it couldn't compete with these on even ground. On another note, I really dislike the painted flag on the turret -.- It's a warship, not an infomercial. Really hope some mod makers get rid of it if the brittish CL line proves to be interesting enough to warrant for a premium captain (re) trainer.

Currywurst, Fred, it's all the same to me But yeah mixed up the names as I don't play battleboats. Good catch though!
-
Not all battleboat captains are incompetent. Earlier today I had a Friedrich push up with my Benson into hotspot's C cap to deal with enemy's pushing cruisers. The captain didn't complain about burning and didn't beach themselves behind an island. When I used my smoke to cover their ship the captain calmly stopped, even thanked me and went to town on every target I lit up for their big guns. Not everyone is a total muppet.

Germans have sucky torpedo belts. I do agree that the Montana seems a bit underwhelming compared to the Currywurst though.

Kuma is a solid choice for a spare captain. Better then the taco due to the protected matchmaking the kuma enjoys. Taco is great vs tier 5's but when uptiered really suffers alot from her lack of range (13km, ugh). Your captain should already have DE which is great with the kuma's high rate of fire. There's also quite a bunch of destroyers at tier 4 preying on the german battleboats which will be nice food for you. Don't have to worry much about cv's with her sleek hull and excellent agility. Even seasoned sealclub cv captains will have a very, very hard time getting succesfull drops on a kuma who is paying attention. All in all fun ship at a fun tier to mess about in when you need a break from the high tier gameplay.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Sub_Eleven replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Oooooh rewards for tanking damage sounds interesting! You lot reckon this a step in the right direction to break the stale passive high tier game play? -
Is WG punishes the team of the TK player too?

Is it me, or is google translate getting worse every day? -
Need more brave battleboat stories please to compensate for the "X is OP cuz it sank my battleboat" threads. And you know it's bad when they claim cruisers are OP, of all things

World of Battleships - what are Cruisers players currently doing?
Sub_Eleven replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
According to some, cruisers are OP *snickers* I guess that would explain why there is 5 bb, 2 ca and 5 dd on an average team on most tiers. Ca's so disgustingly OP, no-one wants to play em -
Whahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (seriously, I meant lolwut?!)

Help a fellow not lose all his hair: Benson advice needed!
Sub_Eleven replied to Pajosaurus's topic in Destroyers
Benson is a stealthy knife fighter, there are very few dd's that can outspot you with her 5.8 km concealment. You have to be carefull in tier 10 games though, do not engage gearings or kababs or udalois in a fair fight. Keeping stuff spotted for your team is sometimes the better option. The Benson is also pretty fast; with a speed flag and the speed consumable she does around 43 knots. Use that to zip around the map. You can invisifire from 10 km out, a great way to annoy battleboats and make them think twice about pushing. Don't be afraid to use your guns on shorter ranges, especially if they are preoccupied. It will force the enemy to either focus their attention on you, turn and possibly giving broadside to your allies or just take your shells and worry about your possible torpedoes which you may or may not have launched. Use the skills interceptor suggested with the B hull. Past 15 points get either TAE or SI. SI is the better option. -
Dedicated captains for "Premium" ships or temporary assignation of the best suited captains from existing ships?
Sub_Eleven replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
If you pay the 200k silver cost to cut retraining in half, to a maximum of 50k xp, and play that captain during this time in a premium ship, it's no problem. Even during retraining the captain skills will function just fine in premium ships. Sure doubloons is faster, but grinding just 50k in a premium ship you like to play anyway isn't all to bad. Specially if you are not in a hurry. -
To many cruisers. Oh wait...

World of Battleships - what are Cruisers players currently doing?
Sub_Eleven replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Mostly playing destroyers ( Benson, Fletcher) for the moment due to the target rich environment. Only cruiser I'm currently grinding is the MK to get my Kirov captain up to 15 points. Playing T5 with the current matchmaking is far from a joy so my the Kirov itself rusts in my port. Sometimes play my Cleveland, Kuma or Furutaka for fun. Haven't touched the Indianapolis, New Orleans and Baltimore in a while. There are to many battleboats and not enough (if any at all) carriers around nowadays. I don't mind the meta to much, I've just adjusted my playstyle accordingly. I do think the lack of diversity will get boring eventually. Can't wait for the new cruiser line to shake things up a bit. -
Bump it everytime a battleboat whine thread pops up please, gotta turn the tide.
