  1. No. You screw dd's over enough by just perma stalking em with you planes. Your team should have no trouble at all killing em, why do you want to join in on kicking the crap out of a poor destroyer? If you want to kill one, manual drop 2 torp squads on a 90 degree angle of each other right on the dd's head, theres no dodge-ing that. Seems like waste of firepower, but hey it works *if* you can get the planes in position.

    Pretty much. Teamplay wins games. Support your team when they need it. Play different classes so you know the strong and weak points of every ship and adjust your play accordingly. The CA racing off to other side of the map is just as much an idiot, as the BB thats is going "pro leet hack sniper skillz yo" from the edge of the map. I always try to escort stuff in my cruiser and sometimes even on a dd if the situation calls for it (enemy having 4 dd's and you only 1 or 2 for example). But if the ships im escorting pull some stupid **** i'm outta there.

    Sooooo you are saying you cant's add up 3 numbers? And damage done only tells one side of the tale, don't stare yourself blind on it. A person who did half your damage could have won the game for your team twice over.

  6. Hi all, I hope someone has a solution for this. I have some or one commander in my reserve, who id like to dismis as my reserve is now full. Reason for this is that i *finnally* got through the st louies and i want to use that captain on the next ship, phoenix as he already has some experience. Before I can sell the st louies and send her commander to the reserve i need to make a free slot in my reserve. How would I do that? Any pointers are highly appreciated.

    Kuma Tier IV Cruiser

    Firs off, im kind of new to cruisers so take my experiences and advice for what you will. But i LOVE the kuma! Its fast, nimble, machinegun turrets and torps to boot. One thing I particularly like to do on 3 cap point maps, is help secure the center cap. You need a friendly dd to go there, as fast as possible obviously, and you need to go with them. Because you are quite fast the dd wont get too far ahead of you. When the dd enters the cap, you should be around 5k away from the cap, and slow down to 1/4 speed and make sure you have unobstructed view on most of the cap (do not move closer to the cap). Now, if an enemy destroyer gets lit up by your destroyer, you can simply lock on and blow it out of the water from the fairly close range. I suggest to use ripple fire here to have the most chances to blow up ship modules (cheesy, i know, but its in the game) Your destroyer captain will love you as it will allow them to go invisible again, and you have secured a fast cap. Because of your fairly low detectability, chances are, the enemy dd didn't even know you were waiting for em. After the cap you should be close to A or C cap and you can speed up to flank your bb's who are moving there. Long story, but this ussually plays out in a minute orso, and is very effective. Other then this I mostly try to herd battleships and keep em save, but this depends on their captains. If they taking every longest route possible because they are chicken, or if they turn away from frontline fight i'll abandon em. If they dont do their job, I will look for a bb that does. Sometimes I guard cv's but not a big fan of it as its boring. With alot of islands on the map I sometimes play kuma like a souped up destroyer, ambushing ships. Very fun to do and succesrate is very high aswell. You can also solo cap if you so wish, but i'd rather leave that for destroyers.     I think you have misread my post. Ive highlighted the important bits for you. See, we dd's don't mind being fragile and having around 10k health. The point is that near mis HE shots knock out your rudder and engine in a rediculous frequency. Once you used the repair you are pretty much dead if a next near mis breaks one of those modules. And its not the detection range with cruisers, its their fireing range, which is twice as far. The ammount of planes past tier 5 makes it very hard to stay hidden. Cruisers get nice fighter planes now aswell and as I mentioned earlier when you bumb into an enemy dd (which you can't spot beforehand) you are prone to be on the receiving end of the entire enemys fleet barrage. Which is fine, untill you couple that with the certain death mechanic form the module damage. I'd encourage you to play some destroyer in open beta, to see for yourself how often you'll be disabled by near mis fire and you will understand the frustration and gripe destroyer captains have with this recent change in the game.

    I would like to stress, that battleships are a very bad choise for new players. They are quite hard to play well and not very forgiving either. On top of that, destroyers will hunt you down and sink you for sports, and carriers will drop every plane they got on you in most cases. Might be better to play cruiser a bit till tier 4 ish to learn how to shoot and how the game works. Hate to see you return here with yet another torpedos are OP thread because you didn't know what you got yourself into. Whatever you decide, hope you have fun and welcome to the game!

    The OP is right, its rediculous. Battleships ussually dont shoot destroyers as its kinda pointless, they get chaingunned down by cruisers. Shipe like kuma, cleveland, atlanta and even st louies have machinegun like fire with ripplefire mode and EACH shot can potentially knock out a module. Might be realistic, but its annoying to the point that its game breaking for alot of dd drivers, myself included. And this will happen every single time you bumb into an enemy dd or a cv driver wants to troll you with their planes.

    As the title says, who are your favourite european world of warships streamers? Here's my top 3: 1:bod699 Pleasant voice, playes classes I like, awesome player obviously, interacts alot with his audience and simply a joy to watch. 2:MercenaryThorrn Again, nice voice, which is important to me, very calm, always having fun and laughs alot. (Think he's australian, but streams at very european friendly times) 3: Murphy1up Brilliant player, ive learned alot just by watching him pull off amazing things, plays great music aswell as a bonus. I like some americans aswell, like Primmrose, but due to timezone differences its alot harder to catch one of those streams. So, if you can't or dont want to play for yourself i'd highly recommend watching these folks play, you won't be disapointed.

    Exactly. I always ask if a cruiser can come with (prefer IJN as they might be out of detection range even) to provide cover fire incase I run into enemy dd so he can tear em to shreds. They just need to be like 2k away from cap circle, no need to enter it.

    As an ex dd player, change speed and direction very very often. If you played dd you know the good ambush spots so be extra carefull there. When you have one (or more) spotted, use your own torps (if you have any) as a area denial weapon and direct the dd in your guns. Im a terrible, terrible shot as i never learned to shoot while playing dd's so i use "ripple fire" to home in on them. Prettyy easy to rip em apart like that, just dont get lured into their allies support fire and he could have a dd buddy close by aswell, so dont get too cocky.

    As to point 3; acquisition is not the same as extend fireing range. It means you spot torps 20% earlier, it has nothing to do with how far you can shoot your own torpedos or guns.

    Dont give much for "realism" when stuff becomes "unplayable". Try running a DD on tier 4, yes the hunting new bb drivers is fun for 3 games, then you realise your kinda useless apart from that niche. Planes will keep you spotted 24/7 and once you blew your repair on your first engine or rudder fail your dead. Crazy game design 1 - fun 0.

    Smoke really isn't the issue, its module damage. But yes, from what I read on the forum alot of dd drivers benched their dd and play other stuff untill issues are resolved. I play minekaze between cruiser matches sometimes to stomp new bb drivers. it can be fun I guess to play destroyer now, if you dont mind getting your engine or steering blown up every 10 seconds when you are spotted by planes or enemy dd's. Personally, i've moved on to classes that can actually do stuff apart from seal clubbing.

    Just no. WoW is in beta with no tutorial, nobody who explains anything or helps new players get their bearing. Bad stuff will happen. Yes it's silly and anoying, i've been teamkilled just like everyone else, instead of complaining, take the time to explain the culprit what they are doing wrong. The majority of new people don't read these forums so you are barking up the wrong tree im afraid.

    It is just that, an "indicator". The closer you are the saver it is to use it, if you dont expect sharp turns or speed changes.
