    ^ Battleships are very hard to play well. Make one small mistake and you are out of position, can't use your weapons, or you are just plain dead. I didn't play a single BB game, as I dislike the gameplay, but I would go for the american one. On higher tiers, having half decent AA makes your life so much easyer.

    I agree, hated the st louies and dumped her as fast as I could. To be fair, I hate BB's too and used to love destoyers so I'm definatly biased towards speed.

    Hi all, How do you all make BB friends in a game? I'm usually very very chatty, in team and all chat but it seems its rather hard to "pair up" with some battleships, even when babbling too em pretty much non stop and flanking and stalking em. What are your experiences? Any tips or suggestions? Even telling em that im gonna protect and flank em like a good little cruiser (tier 4 now) they just seem to either go rambo mode, pro edge of the map sniper or lemming train in a random direction. Granted i've played cruisers 3 days now I think, and still on low tiers but I hope it will improve later when I get cleveland. Thoughts? Will post back later with funny screens or whatever will see

    Does DDs need a buff?

    Almost spot on, I would like increased torp speed though, instead of lower torp detection rate. A small ammount like +5 knots or something, nothing excesive. Apply to all or give speedy torps to IJN and better guns on USN. Also, lower the experience requirements for unlocking things. My reasoning for that is: I dont get any point for map control I dont get any points for escorting or scouting I get very little points for A B C point caps I dont want to shoot my guns ussually so I dont get points for that either I can hardly sink ships reliable on higher tiers so I get less points for that Speed could be "fixed" with buffing the speedy consumable aswell, whatever people prefer really.

    Thank you for the write up, an essential read basicly for all dd captains (and torpedo whiners). I'm not sure if I agree with the quoted bit though. For example, on the minekaze I ussually have the faster torps who are easyer to spot. For me, thats irrelevant in some cases. Either im shooting new players savely from concealment at 6k and they will die. I could fire onions or carrots for that matter with the same result Good players are much, much harder to range torp and sometimes you have to get close. In those cases, it dont matter if they see them, faster torps means less time to dodge, spotted or not. So for me, when shooting good players, faster is certainly better ^^;

    We are not talking about seal clubbing at lower tiers, you can get by there pretty well. maybe that wasn't clear enough. Playing tier 6 (haven't gone any higher then that) with way stronger ships and in general more capable captains it takes very little to render you harmless or atleast make life very very difficult for you.You are spotted way more easily resulting in getting shot more often -> more modules blown up. If it doesn't happen to you at all, you must be the luckiest captain in the world and or the most cautious one, to never get spotted / shot at by people with remotely half decent aim.

    And as others mentioned it is just sooooo easy to stay out of its fire range with her 20 knots something top speed. Fun for seal cubbing, but people who know the ship will just laugh at you while you try to catch up while eating volley after volley in your face. Makes it balanced I guess.

    It's not bad, but I prefer the Kuma which is waaaaaaaaaaaay more nimble.

    Yes i've changed my tactic and wont spam chat as much as that could scare people for some reason (don't know why, people are like that). Instead, I just ask "Would any battleship like an escort or protection" and I did have 2 captains who wanted to team up so I was happy

    Yes clemson and nicholas can be fun to play, not convinced past those though as I stopped playing dd after I unlocked tier 6. @ mindfulcrane07: Reload at those tiers is horrible. Damage is ok I guess, but the reload is just stupid. @ Ruzzki: I bet you do, it's omaha's job after all. I would never take an Omaha head on, ambush at an island so I can fire under 1.5k range or leave it be.

    access to the reserve

    I had same problem, but some nice forum people explained you have to view all the "spare" commanders in the reserve. You can rigth click (doesn't say anywhere you can rigth click) a commander you don't like and a menu pops up. Click dismis and you are all good. Hope this helps!

    Yesch! It is crucial in most games to make a cruiser friend to flank you and keep you save from planes and destroyers. In return, your friendly cruiser ecpects you to take a crap ton of damage, pretty much always sail at full speed, apart from course corrections / anti torp movement. Never ever ever go round the map, edge hugging taking, the longest route physicly possibble, as you will be late everywhere and accomplish jack **** for your team. Cruisers already sail at 3/4 or even 1/2 speed to stay with you, don't piss em off by taking unnesecary detours. When you see your cruiser race ahead to an island or passage, they are not abandoning you, but rather blocking the entrance for the enemy or scouting the area. So don't blindly turn in with them as that would be very silly to do. Last but not least, ask for an escort when the game starts. Yes most people wont talk or are shy, I don't know. But you only need one or some to be willing to help you out and play together. It's more fun and less risky. Last but not least, don't let the cruiser tank for you by hiding in the back. Thats recipe for disaster, you need to close the distance and not stay at 15k range thinking you re a sniper of some sorts. You are being a tool not doing your job and that's taking the punishment and shrugging it off while shredding enemy ships before your big guns.

    I realise it's not just DD's. But you can't ignore the frequency that it happends to DD's is, lets say, quite high. I have no clue how I would know you would have played destroyers? Not many people play it afterall. But saying it happends to light cruisers just as often is just plain silly to me. granted, I only strated cruisering 3 days ago and im only at tier 4, but I can count the times i had my engine or rudder blown up on em on one hand. And i dont see how that would change on higher levels, maybe if you get focused by an atlanta or somethign but other then that, no. And obviously I was assuming the DD driver was good, and didn't yolo rigth into the enemy fleet and be surprised to get sunk in seconds. We all have some derpy moments and everyone makes mistakes, but that's totally irrelevant to the issue with module damage. We are all big enough boys and girls to admit when we screp up. So i'm real sorry, but I totally disagree with your sentiment with it being "fine" as it is.

    Check out the several topic's about destroyers and or torpedo's in general. Although it's unfortunate that you were left with a destroyer on opposing team, I can guarantee you they are NOT OP, quite the opposite. If interested as to why, do a search, hopefully that will give you some insight into the current situation.

    Just took one for the team fellow cruiser captains! I reset cap on big race while being shot at by 5 ships, and our battleships very busy edge sniping Obviously didn't make any friends, our dd did love me though as I covered their butt in torp alley.

    Don't like it, really dont understand what the fuss is about, I HATED the grind through it but thats just me personally. Guns is nice and all but its so slow and ugly and slow and did I mention ugly? also yeah short range, if i see a st loues in my Kuma it's gonna die first, horribly, without landing a single shot on me. But when fighting chesters, I suppose its OP or something...

    It's really not an issue. You can have 6 port slots for free, more if you spend doubloons or other stuff (not sure how it works, I don't have premium account thinghy). If you dont want to keep any ships you've unlocked sell em, and keep the ones that are fun to play? Surely you can remember what ships you currently have.

    Welcome to world of warships open beta. Do your daily's on any dd's you might have, maybe go seal clubbing for a bit on a tier 4 or 5, and BENCH em for the rest of the time. Not worth the trouble and most certainly not fun.
