I'm one of these captains, sadly. My first 3 games in the Scharnhorst were... not quite disasters, but close enough (42k average damage, 2 ships sunk, over 3 battles). It probably doesn't help that I've only driven other BBs up to Tier V, though. I think I'll stop playing it, until I've at least gotten the German line up to Tier VI. Elite status just means that all the xp earned on this ship can be converted into free xp.

I don't think it's preferential MM. I think it's a simple consequence of the recent MM changes. Tier 7 and tier 8 are the tiers with the widest MM spread, but since the MM seems to be optimized for speed not quality, T8 and above get dragged into T10 matches. Thus leaving T7 with everything that comes up from below.

To be fair, they might just make a special Scharnhorst offer, 10-15% lower price, limited to 4-5 days, and then it gets replaced by the Dunkerque. Or something. We'll see.

On the wiki it used to say it'll cost 9500 gold. In the shop it costs 35.15€, same as the Saipan. The Saipan costs 9500 gold in the tech tree. And I think the flag is cosmetic.

Nor did I. Doesn't mean they can't remove it. And it makes it feel more exclusive, which means more people would buy it.

After watching yesterday's stream, I know why he likes them. He makes them perform well, except for the times when "Omg, Flamu, I'm such a fan, I must kill you!".

Most likely the latter. On the NA shop they have the "special offer" of the Scharnhorst + port slot for another 10 days.

Interesting to note that the price of the Tirpitz has been lowered (for 4 days, according to what I see in the tech tree) from 12500 to 10625 gold.

Given that the last couple of patches went live almost immediately after the public test... It's probably patch 0.5.10. That is, if they don't discover something horridly wrong with the content and need to delay it until after Gamescom.
