I suspect you don't have any 10 point captains. The enemy DD's at tier 5 and up will have 10 point captains with the 'concealment skill'. You were out spotted for this reason. Your choices are: Uninstall the game (as you have) or train 10 point captains so you can run concealment. If you lack the patience to learn and grind, you have made the right choice by uninstalling.

Is there any measures taken to ban those who negatively play consistently?
Gudgeon replied to rmbg's topic in General Discussion
As much as these players are as bad for in game enjoyment as broken game mechanics, you cannot ban someone for being bad. Somehow that account has a tier 10 ships, so the player has gone through the system to get them. It is the fault of the system, not the player. It is obviously too easy to get a tier 10 ship in this game. I cannot understand players like this, surely they would have more fun at tier 4? Thinking about it, probably not, as they would be facing 2-3 CV's every game when playing their DD at tier 4. Again, broken game. -
I have two..... , and that was enough of that mode. But yes you are right, I don't understand why the flag was taken away from being rewarded for Rank 1. The decision made no sense. At the very least, reward a decent flag along with reasonable rewards.

The worst skill for dumbing the game down. Sorry, but this skill should be removed from the game. You outsmart someone, only for the "I'm being aimed at" skill to activate for the enemy and the rudder keys are hastily pressed by the enemy player. How about zig zagging during play and being proactive about survival, not relying on being told you are being aimed at by an unspotted ship, by a skill? A lazy skill at best that does not exist in real life. Should be a four point skill if WG insist on leaving this skill in the game.

I'm afraid with all the players now trying (and failing in most cases) to exploit the "dead loss", sorry, I mean "dead eye" skill, support for DD's is even less evident than before. Why go near a cap where basically you will lose HP to a CV, or bump into an organized enemy, when your team camps on the back line sniping to come top in a loss? The only way to get reliable support in a DD is to go out in a three ship division.
-
Dead Eye skill = dead game. Chuck CV's into a battle, combined with this nonsense, now DD's and Cruisers get punished for playing objectives even more than before this update. It stinks.
-
I'll give them a three for presentation and effort on the UI. It only took five years to have a much better commander interface screen.
-
Exactly. This is what really rankles with me over this "improvement". Of all things, CV's have come out of this better.....as if they needed that. Why does this company insist on this nonsense on the class that does not fit into the game? I am seriously considering applying NO AA skills whatsoever on any captain. The CV will defecate over you anyway if the sky warrior chooses to, so let them have their wish for CV dominance and I get to click "next battle" quicker, where hopefully it is a NON- CV game where fun can be had. Or I find something less boring to do in my leisure time.

It is a nerf to players who do not have a big stock of elite commander XP. The players with a big stock of commander XP, or have the means to create a large pool of commander XP have been able to upgrade to 21 point captains now. So the gap between the 'have's' and the 'have not's' has become even larger. Instead of "Just Dodge" the new slogan should be "Just Grind", or "Just Pay".

I was being sarcastic. Every change made in the last 2+ years have been to the detriment of having fun in this game.

Secondary builds - 50% accuracy -> 35% accuracy?
Gudgeon replied to Islandern's topic in General Discussion
How is the rework a buff to Secondary BB's where AA and Secondary captain skills were combined in one skill prior to this 'improvement', where as now AA and secondary skills are completely separate skills. You do not have enough points (if you have 21) to achieve the same numbers as before in both AA and Secondary battery. -
He will be OK. He will play his RU CC account and automatically have 257 twenty one point captains. CC's have become kind of redundant as 99% of the common player base will not be able to relate to possessing 21 point captains this side of 2023. Still the good news is: The mess that is the CV rework might be forgotten now Is that a submarine I see on the horizon?

AA skills are not combined with secondary skills anymore. You have to pick AA or the secondary skills. In a CV meta. -
They will reach a point (very soon) that 90% of the player base will cease to care about this game and the developer might then realize that they need to make some positive changes, or pull the plug. I cannot predict which of those choices will be made when looking at previous decisions taken. Basically, they have taken a great game and over last two years systemically destroyed everything that was good.

Gudgeon replied to Islandern's topic in General Discussion
You can have secondary's OR AA now, but not both to the same levels prior to the 'update'. You choose, but to be honest, it looks like German BB's are ready for the scrapyard as they cannot be used for the role they appear to have been created for (brawling and secondary's) without being a nice juicy HP pool for our sky warriors to farm. Basically a middle digit to secondary battleships that give a different BB playstyle to the sit and the back and snipe playstyle, or the "I have guns and armour and everything else" BB line. -
I'm not sure I can be bothered with this.

Poll: Is anyone considering pouring money into the captain rework?
Gudgeon replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
I would sooner use 1 point captains than spend doubloons on retraining/re-allocating skills going forward from tomorrow. -
Every player that wants the Hizen has to pay something, it is not possible to get it for free. Make you choice. As for the Strasbourg, it is mediocre, and will be dumped into tier 9 matches, so you will not miss much by not getting it, except some grief.

More is less (the upcoming Commander Skills Update 19 -> 21 points - most current "reference" builds will simply cost more in new system for same functionality and will deplete great deal of resources and cause months / years of unnecessary grind)!

All this will do is make the quality of random battles even worse. Why would any new player start/continue with this game? It is hardly based around actually having "fun". I can only guess that the developer is using this "update" to push clan battles harder and force players down this route and stack camo's and flags to milk commander XP to stay "current and competitive" with the rest of your clan. It looks like a mechanism of indirectly applying a feeling of peer pressure to keep you grinding hard so you have 21 point captains for competitive and also for dumping on non-competitive players in Randoms who rock up with 10-12 point captains at best. Even more balance in the "Game about Balance"...sorry I mean warships. This game is just power creep after power creep. -
Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Sums WOW's up.... a CV that only fires up their engine five minutes after the flank has collapsed completely and the back line BB has crashed into said CV. Really bad battle (like most) but this made me smile looking at the complete ineptitude of higher tier play The enemy Richi was AFK too. Nice, no camo ships too. Still applying a camo makes very little difference anyway in some cases. . -
The cost of the new captain skills in context
Gudgeon replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
I already stopped worrying about 'grinding' in this game. I have no interest in steel reward clan battle ships or competitive and now I will not even consider the extra 1.2 M exp required for 21 point captains from my 19 point captains. I have 225 ships in port at the moment......so quite a few captains at various skill levels. I think I will sell the tech tree ships I don't really play at tiers 3-9 and keep all tier 10's and then I have enough credits to not have to worry about anything. I guess I am not the kind of player they want logging on anymore. This game is beginning to make tanks look like an easy grind. HOW ABOUT MAKING THE GAME FUN TO PLAY? HOW DOES THIS 'IMPROVEMENT' MAKE THE GAME ATTRACTIVE TO NEW PLAYERS? They only people who will benefit from this update will be the hardcore clan battle players who mount all the economic flags/camo's and rake in commander XP every clan battle session (1/2 million commander XP every session might be a guess). So basically the rest of the player base is at an even bigger disadvantage.- 34 replies

Finally! Something else to talk about in the game after the CV rework! The only part of the game that is not broken in some way.......until this update hits. I guess you cannot make money from a well balanced game that has balanced game mechanics and an element of fun. So we keep getting these 'improvements'. Might be time to take a break....but I will have to check 250+ captains and 'reset' them after the automatic new skills application if they are not to my liking and also double check they are trained for the right ship.....or just disappeared completely. Thanks!

I got my Georgia, Alaska and Friesland for "free" (except for corroding my soul participating in this game). Why would I pay £55 for a pixel tier 9 I can get for free? So yes, you could buy them (if said player had enough XP to convert to free XP via gold). The players this 'offer' is aimed probably don't have spare XP on ships to convert to enough free XP to unlock the ships. My point being is that you will end up with even more players at tier 9/10 with no clue whatsoever. Still, the game is not lasting much longer at the current trajectory of diminishing quality.

A very bad sign on the real state of the game. Speaks volumes.

How is new Ranked? How do you like new format in actual play?
Gudgeon replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
There is a semblance of teamwork (may by accidental) and there is generally a common aim to win. Things that are not seen in random battles these days. I can barely force myself to play random battles these days as the MM shafts you constantly with tiering (unless you play tier 10) and the battle quality is generally abysmal. The only downside is the presence of the "no fun for you class".
