Dunkerque: a good buy or not?

I have one and it is fun to play, and not as bad as some youtube commentators have said. You must bear in mind that it won't tank damage like a new mex or german BB, but played correctly can be fun. The guns are pretty good and I got called out for cheating in my last battle in it by a disgruntled weekend Kirov player after he received three citadels at 15 km . The game play is refreshingly different to other BB's and it is nice angling to a target and having all you guns pointing at the target. Great fun. If top tier, oh boy. The speed is nice too. I think it is a much improved Kongo.

    Christmas convoy misson is here

It is a £16 paywall mission......this is the precedent that people should focus on, not missing out from what other regions are 'getting'. Perhaps WG-EU were actually applying some integrity in making the initial decision not to include such a mission into our region? Who knows. I think I am looking for less stress during gaming, as the tasks on the NA server for the Christmas Missions are doable but could involve some stress and aggravation, so would not be for me. I have had enough of heavy grinds to be honest.

    Christmas convoy misson is here

Do you need a Graf Spee to do the Christmas Convoy Missions? £16 for free stuff...... WG must be rubbing their hands together if this is the case judging by the amount of people who have been up in arms over this, as they now suddenly need a Graf Spee to do the mission. To be honest, I really did not understand all the furore over this in the first place. I for one, will only grind for the free ship, hence making myself ineligible for this mission. My choice. If I want the 'free' Tirpitz camo, £10 gold is cheaper than a £16 Graf Spee. I might be missing something here.......but the ship is not worth much and will be heavily outclassed in 90% of matches (60% of them will be T8 anyway). Just grind it for free.......

    Gift Containers a joke!

Bought 9 of the largest containers (six at lunchtime, three in the evening), got camo, camo, Emden, camo, Emden, 2000 doubloons, camo, Gremyaschy and 2000 doubloons. Pretty happy and thanks Wargaming. Going to now grind the Graf Spee, so again thanks. I think overall I'll be even/slightly ahead once the Graf Spee arrives in dock for free. Happy Christmas one and all P.S No more gambling, quitting while I'm ahead!
  5. If someone thinks 100 euro's for a ship (assuming the player has a negligible amount of free XP in the grand scheme of 750 000 free XP) is crazy. It is a cut and paste (OK slightly different Armour scheme + 10 km radar) Iowa. Yes, you get premium income from it, but it is ridiculous. At the end of the day, it is a digital in game item. Good luck to anyone that has 750 000 free XP that has come purely from playing the game, you get a free T9 BB.

    ARP Nachi. WG please!

Got the Nachi yesterday . To do this mission you need to sail ships that are either Russian (should probably guarantee the same ship/nationality on the other team) and then get within 10 km and unleash the AP, or sail a ship of any nationality that pumps out nice AP damage. Or pick a BB with good shell dispersion. Basically you want good citadel hits to stop someone else ninja'ing the kill.

    New Japanese Destroyers

Just found that I have to play the Hatsuharu again, even after getting to T9 in the original IJN line..... not happy, I expected to be able to start at T7 in the gunboat line....cheers WG

    RN CL take a breath

After getting to the Leander in a relatively painless way, I must say the tier 6 Leander is actually surprisingly good (albeit with a highly skilled captain). The lower tier ships were not particularly fun, I made sure I used every XP boost I could. The grind to the Fiji through the Leander is not half as bad as I thought it would be. To be fair to Wargaming, they acknowledged the playability of the line by giving everyone the chance to win a Campbeltown and a 12 point captain to aid players on their way once the main line appeared. I do think a bit of polish should be applied once the line has bedded in a bit and stats for the ships are available. I am interested to know when War Gaming are going to release HMAS Perth as I have a bit of a soft spot for the Leander now and would buy the Perth once it is available. I am an RN fan and have waited a long time for these ships, so playing a ship with White Ensign flying appeals over buffing my stats every time. I just want WG to make the RN line a fun experience for all players who choose to play them.

    Supercontainer chance

I seem to only get the 10% AA/Rear gunner flag (not sure what it is called) from the 'Pot luck option'. Done around nine chances now. The flag is quite apt as I despise CV's in any shape or form. If I actually manage to win a ship, I bet it will be the Krispy Kreame!

    Royal Navy Cruisers Feedback

I have now played the RN line for around 30 battles. I can say that tier 1-5 and pretty poor compared to their contemporaries. The Leander at tier 6 has been a surprise. It is actually quite good and fun to play and with low detection, you can really use its strengths and pop that smoke when you get into a good position. The guns actually do damage, with a double citadel on an MK being a highlight. The 8 KM torpedo's are also a nasty surprise for the unwary and deal good damage and are pretty quick through the water too. So once you get to tier 6, the RN line comes alive. It is true that there are easier lines to play. Having experience of playing DD's to a good standard would really set you up for this line.

    Your Greatest RN Game Today

Well, after 6 battles in my Leander I have just got a Tier 6 battle (all others contained Tier 7/8 ships rammed to the roof). I got six Kills, 138K damage 414 000 credits 5879 XP but after 6 battles my win rate is 17% with a survival rate of 66%. Teams seem to be folding all around me generally.

    Royal Navy Cruisers (again)

The Leander is not too bad.....at least the guns combined with low detection mean you can actually damage things. THE BIG PROBLEM NOW IS BEING IN CONTINUAL T8 BATTLES. YEAH. This is showing how much of a joke this game is. How players with unskilled captains will cope with, let alone enjoy the game play, is beyond me. Don't even bother getting a Belfast without a minimum of a 15 point captain, even my Leander rips hole in them. It looks very fragile. Without this captain, Flamu style games will not happen and like a lot of Belfast's I have seen this morning, they are propping the score table up generally.

    Guide: British Cruisers

I'm at tier 5 and there are no keepers so far. That is a damming indictment of the line. Is there any other line this can be said about? All lines have fun ships dotted throughout the low tiers....... At tier 6 I suspect the Cleveland and Buddy would be better ships. Above tier 7 you really begin to meet ships that will tear you a new ar......

    Guide: British Cruisers

This is it. Once the line has been around a bit and people know the tricks, every time an RN ship parks in his little puff of smoke, a hail of steel and torps will be on its way. The RN ship will have to move and then it gets snapped in two by all-comers.

    Royal Navy Cruisers Feedback

With the Emerald, four battles = four Tier 7 battles.....the MM breaks the line completely above tier 5 it seems. Thanks WG, the line seems to be worth the all the effort you have put in to produce it.

    RN Cruisers...

OK, my update on the RN line after reaching T5......they are some kind of sick joke. Tier 1 to Tier 5 are just so bad in the way they have been implemented into the game, they are literally free damage to other ships. The Emerald is particularity fun as it has been chucked into Tier 7 battles for three out of three battles entered. Therefore, not only are the ships very poor, the MM is the icing on the cake. My tip, avoid the line at all costs, it is a dead end. I have looked forward to the RN line for a long time and quite frankly, what I have seen is a total disappointment.

    RN Cruisers...

could not put it better myself. At least the Russian light cruisers (inc. Buddy, Schors, Chappy and MK) get HE. Joke. So, does the incoming Russian BB line only get HE, to make it different from the 'other' battleships?

    Your Greatest RN Game Today

A Kraken in the Caledon and 45K damage. But, to put things into perspective, AP only ships will not carry a 'proper' game. Happy the RN line is here, but sad with the WG implementation. Looking broken.

    RN Cruisers...

Here is my review of the RN line upto and including tier 4. They are like IJN Yubari without HE and slightly stronger AP. That is it. Once they are slotted into a 'proper' game comprising of all ship types/Nationality of ships, not just RN, they are going to be found to be totally broken. I have a Kraken in the Caledon, but that is not going to happen in 'real' battles. I have just seen Nikolai's prowling....mine is being fueled and armed as we speak. Basically, buying the Belfast is on hold. Very Disappointing. I am going to go to T5/T6 ASAP and make a final judgement.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

I have just took out my Murmansk (pay to win Omaha). Tier Seven match, played as a support ship hiding behind BB's etc, no kills, 20K damage. Was it exciting? No. Why would a new player in his right mind want to play mid tier US style cruisers? They will get no reward, just basically act as a citadel magnet. In my game I received no hits to the ship. When I ground through the early tiers, it was fun, the MM was OK and generally I enjoyed the battles. BTW I have played the Murmansk heavily, but it rarely ventures out now. I then took out my Marblehead. The captain is OK, a typical mid tier player skill level of captain. The ship has a 12.7 gun range and a 13.2 detection range. The tiering was superb for once. Dropped a Russian DD, just getting into my stride and fighting a Konigsburg when I got focused by two CV's, a DD and the Konigsburg. Game over. Partly my fault for being too aggressive. I came third overall, which is kind of funny as I was dead for at least half the battle. Basically Cruisers should have -1/+1 tiering up to tier 8 I think. An Omaha cruiser against a tier 7 cruisers is outclassed. I even feel that Tier 7 cruisers are poor against Tier 8 cruisers, as T8 and above get extra modules (concealment/loader etc) that give an unfair advantage over the lower tier ship. If Wargaming want players to stay with the game, they really need to change the MM for Cruisers at the very least. Once players are regularly smashed at tier 5 by tier 7's (assuming they have no higher tier ships in dock), I can see the uninstall button being hit. This game needs to change or it will be history in 6 months time. It is that simple. I even feel that the RN cruisers may be the final nail in the coffin.

Cruisers are becoming more and more pointless

The game has become too focused on damage, stats and kills. This inspires the "every man for himself" attitude in this game. Therefore it is best to drive a BB or a DD due to the high alpha strike damage of shells or torpedo's. It is much easier to consistently rack up damage in a DD or BB than a cruiser. Basically people are now making the choice between stealthy ninja or a large hit pool of health and tank. Why sail in a squishy coke can cruiser? The USN line of cruisers is pants with the shoot to the moon shell arcs and the RN line looks total crap before it has even left the dry dock. There is no real attraction to play cruisers for a lot of players, as the higher up the tech tree you go, the bigger the gulf (aka get nuked quicker) between BB's and CA/CL. To get cruisers back in the game, firstly change the repairs costs for respective classes of ship. Drop the cost of repair in cruisers. Yes that's right, make it the cheapest class to run. By a mile. Reward the winning team for winning, but the losing team gets less, to try and motivate players to play as a team. The team needs cruisers and it is their interests (looking at you BB's) to keep them alive. Drop the detection ranges of cruisers. Get rid of the crappy shell arc on USN ships. Make cruisers fun to play (not just the Russian ones with stalinium shells and laser beam shell arcs). Give cruisers the "Murmansk manoverability" perk as standard, so they turn on a dime without having to add the proposed maneuverability module.
  22. I agree totally. I have just got my Khabba and still learning how to play it. Yes, it is powerful and I already have four 100k damage games in it, but I have also lost it very cheaply when I have put myself in a bad spot. Other ships are just as powerful when used to their strengths. The people who have had problems fighting a Khabba (me included, which is why I got hold of one) should perhaps look towards their team mates.....I think the balance in the game is pretty good on the whole, but the problems of OP ships comes from bad play from the ships that are the counter for the so called 'OP ship' on the other team. Keep a Khabba spotted and locked down and they will have a harder time. If a Khabba is roaming around with impunity, perhaps the problem stems from the team you are put into and players not performing their role and just playing for themselves......which is the story from tier one upwards in this game.....TEAMWORK is the key in this game, but most people are not interested in that. Some just play for fun, others play to pad their stats. Personally, I am happy to win and make credits. If the Khabba is nerfed too much, then I will be calling for CV's to be looked at next, as this seems to be the class that is truly OP in my opinion. Manual drops from point blank range etc. Again, this probably stems from having an ace CV player on one team and a poor CV player on the other team. The good CV player does not have any opposition in the battle and goes around doing what he wants, nuking which ever ship he wants. Stop tinkering with the game WG and address the teamwork problem first.

    WG thieves

I presume you have another account as you have no premium ships, played very few ships and therefore I suspect no gold/premium time either. The ships you have played/would have faced have not been nerfed either. Playing upto T6 without putting a penny in to the game is more than feasible and that is what I did. Have fun in other games.

New Arpeggio Missions tomorrow 1st June

Please, don't give WG any idea's! It may distract the developers attention from finishing some real ships from history, from various Navy's around the world (notice I did not say RN line as a spectifc example). More ship types would fill out the battles with a wider variety of ships and play styles. I have three multi coloured Kongo's in dock, + a pink myoko, so another rainbow ship of the same type sat in dock is a bit pointless. The only good thing from the ARP missions is I now have a 16 point captain for my pink Myoko.

    GNB "its a secret"

You can get free premium ships with the diamonds you collect, so I cannot see it will be another premium ship as the main reward to be honest. It could be an anime Campbeltown though I suppose
