    Cruisers (or lack of)

Well I love playing cruisers, but mid tier is a nightmare at the moment. I think the MM has something to do with it too. I have played my Duca D'toaster 58 times. I have a 34% win rate in it. I do OK and average 40K damage in it. The MM is atrocious for this ship....T8, T8 and T8 battles. Anything to do with the 200% captain mission boost wargaming? I have a Perth (yes it as smoke etc, but just as fragile) and I have played 32 battles in it for a 78% win rate. Not played it for a while so the BB meta might not have been as strong. The Duca stats cannot be a fluke, I mean, a 34 % win rate....really WG. Cruisers should get a +/- 1 tier, certainly up to tier 8. Cruiser rewards, maybe XP but definitely credits should be increased dramatically, to increase the number of cruisers in game. I learnt to play cruisers when there were only two nations in the game and I really do not envy new players trying to play cruisers in mid tiers now. I fully understand why people play BB's. BTW, personally, I think German BB's started the rot, as before that, any BB below tier 5 in IJN and 6 in US was pretty rubbish, then turtleback armour made an appearance and the rest is history. BB's should get less reward for detonating a cruiser in one or two salvo's and increase the reward for BB's shooting BB's. Wow I have had guys shooting over two battleships who are much more of an direct threat than me in my cruiser but they just want a kill. Total nonsense. PLEASE MAKE CRUISERS VIABLE AGAIN WARGAMING. You need all classes in the game to make it balanced and fun.

    UK cruiser nerf ?

You look a reasonable player, so what is your problem with them? If I am in a ship with torps, a volley of torps helps the move out of their smoke/sink quite well. Radar can see through smoke as well. Ah, you are a CV player.......have Neptune's and Minotaur's been shooting your planes down? I have witnessed firsthand Strangers123 and Fazarelth (a Flamu division mate, please excuse spelling) playing their high tier CV's in battles I have been involved in. Thank god I was on their team, these guys pick a target and nuke it with planes..........so please don't ask for nerfs on ships, or shall we use their skills in a certain class as a basis to ask for nerfs? Basically, team play can win out and that is how you try to counter threats. They are only overpowered until someone aims at them. High risk, high reward ships. They are the class bar none at high tiers that reliably provide multiple citadels when caught out and they are gone in 10 seconds. If they are so OP, why do you not play them?
  3. There seems to be a lot more AFK'ers around at the moment. Had two on our team yesterday, a CV and an a top tier CA. We still won, as luckily the Match Maker had built a team of idiots on the other side.

    Looking for advice

Grind to the T6 Leander and then follow the advice above, this is the first good ship of the line. The Fiji is good too. Skip through the Emerald as soon as possible.

    Sorcery... or w*** is this?

Scenario 1, 12KM from a Kongo, he blow you out of the water if the RNG (random number generator) decides that the Kongo player deserves some happiness. You will not win this battle 99 times out of 100. Don't try and yolo a BB in a cruiser. Scenario 2, You gave the cruiser a volley with AP. The cruiser has no armour and basically your shells over penetrated his armour and went straight through the ship and out of the other side. Bad luck. In this game, it does not consider that in real life the shell may travel through the boiler room or powder magazines. The RNG god did not want to give you happiness. Tip: you need to feed War Gaming and RNG might choose you.
  6. I'll buy the Hood and them I'm done. No more premium ships. I have most things I want, just a bit more cash for T10 DD's and then I need no more. Prem time for the RN BB's grind and that will definitely be it. As long as I make enough credits to play as I wish and not need to grind anything I will be happy. I will not buy premium cruisers now, it is pointless. The Duca is a T8 ship in all but name due to the matchmaker. Avoid the Duca and do not make the mistake I made. The current BB meta is making mid tier cruisers life a total misery. BUFF THE CRUISER MM SO IT IS + or - ONE ONLY.

    French Cruisers-Looking Good!

Have you played the Duca....? Does not look like it. 10 battles, 20% win rate may have tainted the ship for me. In the handful of battles in LaGlasscannon, the French tier 6 is a much better ship than the Duca...just my opinion so far.

    French Cruisers-Looking Good!

If these ships did not set fires there would be no benefit of playing this line at all.....they take damage from every angle and any ship. I found it easier to play two battles last night in my Atago in heavy T9-T10 and average 100K+, than play the tier 5 and 6 cruisers of the French line....go figure. It should be the other way around. These ships are the most unfriendly ships for new players. I would recommend that new players stay well away from this line of cruisers. Myself, I am still wondering if there is any reason to grind much further up the line. As for the Duca, well, the less said the better. Sad days for mid tier cruisers.

    Should I come back?

Well if you like light cruisers, the BB players will have you back with open arms......good times, citadelled by a BB by firing over two or more BB's between you and him.....yeah the game mechanics/player mentality have been 'updated' since you were last here. Give it a month or two, it literally will be 'the game about battleships'. This is coming from someone who plays most classes equally, loves Cruisers, but they are fast becoming the most shat on class in the game. I echo the sentiments of Negativv totally. I am rapidly becoming a BBully, as cruisers between tier 5 and 9 are basically shafted. DD's are fun though when you unload a full torp load into one the rudderless BB's that frequent the game these days. Even that can get boring these days. Be prepared for brainless people who find new ways to lose games, all the way up to tier 10. Just watched two full health BB's against (tier 6's) fail against two enemy cv's (2 v 2 ships left in battle) ....one CV got no kills, the other got six. Never seen a game lost like that before. The BB's were within 10km of the CV's too.

    Zero scores.

Go back to tier 4. It is a protected tier, so tier 5 ships are the highest you will face. Sail with the team. Aim to do the same amount of damage as the hit points of the ship you are sailing in, if it is a cruiser or battleship. Aim to do double your hit points when sailing a DD. Any extra damage you do above your hit point value is a bonus to you and your team. Only when you consistently achieve the above over 100 battles per class should you consider going up to the next tier. Play silver ships as well as premiums. Watch you tube streamers such as: Notster, Flamu, Aerroon and Ichasegaming Be happy when you improve. Your tier 6-9 battles cannot have been much fun for you OR your teammates. You have a lot of premium ships, but they are not the pathway to instant success. The ones that may help you improve, you don't actually have in your dock, namely the Murmansk and the Ishizuchi.

    Le Fheile Padraig flag

You will always be top tier....
  12. Dear Wargaming, Please can you provide an incentive for players not to border hug in 'large ships' for the whole battle, while the rest of the team tries to fight over the caps and lose the battle. It is quite annoying. I have just had a battle where our three big ships occupied the bottom three places on a losing team (T6 to T8) and one of them being a full health Dunkerque, still alive at the end of the battle. My suggestion is to not pay out any money or XP on the bottom three places of a losing team. The other option is to force the three players to only be able to play a ship of a lower tier in their next battle. Before you say that that would discourage players, if they are always in the bottom three then they are not contributing anything ever and the game would be better off without them anyway. They appear to think that just surviving for 20 minutes is a 'win'. Best Regards, A p1ss3d off World of Warshipper

    An open letter to Wargaming

Sounds good to me, I know we all drop a clanger every so often, but if you are generally OK at the game, then the loss of credits/XP is of negligible effect and can motivate a player to assess where they went wrong and try and improve.

    Another CV rant....

Lets cut to the chase. I have had too many games ruined by CV's this weekend. Win rate abysmal. I don't mind getting sunk by CV's, but my last game takes the biscuit and was an example of what is killing the game for me. You play a DD and due to having potato/bot cv players on my team, you are spotted the whole battle. In my most recent game I was harassed by a CV who was a very good player and he manged to cross drop me on his second attempt. He was able to do this as he had no opposition in regard to his opposite CV enemies (two cv's a side). The team got trounced. Here are the respective stats of the CV's, names withheld to protect the innocent. our team: CV 1 - 2422 battles, 44.05% win rate, 593 xp, 23,860 damage, 0.68 kd and 0 kills this battle CV 2 - 1733 battles, 45.64% win rate, 843 xp, 26,713 damage, 0.5 kd and 0 kills this battle enemy team: CV 1 - 4299 battles, 54.27% win rate, 867 xp, 39,756 damage, 1.91 kd 3 kills this battle CV 2 - 4744 battles, 49.6% win rate, 1357 xp, 41914 damage, 1.09 kd 0 kills this battle That looks balanced doesn't it. Match maker says........you lose. Basically, we had one seal clubber on the enemy team and yes we all do a bit of seal clubbing from time to time, but CV1 on the emeny team has done 700 battles in this particular CV. The point I am trying to make is that having a seal clubber in a CV is much worse than any other class of ship as they are pretty much are unopposed during the battle if the other cv's are total amateurs. This is not the case for the other ship classes. WG need to implement some kind of training scheme that prevents new CV players getting into randoms without achieving a level of competence/ understanding their role/ know the game mechanics of CV play. Yesterday myself and my division mate had a Saipan on our team that had played 68 battles, yes that is right 68 battles in total ever. Can you guess how his game went!?

    Lunar Missions

Ah good, more Myoko's. You can never have enough Myoko's. One for every day of the week. Perhaps these mission should be selectable, like the Graf Spee missions for instance, and therefore you could opt out if you choose.
  16. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

WG does not nerf premiums. Stop worrying. The only thing which will obsolete the saipan will be the next premuin CV that might come along. People can buy that one then if they want. This is the rub isn't it, you think I am lobbying for nerfing CV's. I am not. I could not care less. I might even play them again and try and improve with them. From my uniformed view, the biggest nerf to CV's (Silver ones) is the Saipan coming along with T9 planes. I appreciate that there is a different skill with the saipan that needs to be learnt from the regular cv's, but anyone can buy one, so there is no basis for complaints on that side either. Again, I am NOT lobbying for CV nerfs, we need ALL classes in the game to create intresting and diverse battles.
  17. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

You are trying to turn the post into something it is not. I don't want CV's nerfed, could not care less, it is the gulf in skill between two players on opposing teams that can occur and wreck a teams game, more than any other class. It happens more often than you would care to admit and you benefit from it too. Going on the premise that CV's have such a hard time, the good CV player stats I see are very good btw with win rate, damage and KD being very high. Your Saipan stats of 68% win rate, 107K damage and KD of 11 being an example. 2.1 kills a game average is very good too. 10/10 for the obnoxious posts.....and you wonder why a large proportion of the player base hate CV's.
  18. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

Who rattled your cage? As already stated I have played the Murmansk a handful of games in the last six months. I was grinding credits and learning to play the game in that ship. My other high use ship was the Cleveland back then. This is irrelevant to the post and reasons for it that are stated above. Great stats by the way, a KD of 29 in the Saipan with average damage of 71K is somewhat impressive.
  19. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

Right, I have not been very clear. The two novice CV's in the match I referred to were of a skill level that allowed the very good guy and average guy on the other team to go around with no threat or opposition at all and attack how they like. I said before I like a fight and a challenge and yes, all classes (CV's included) need to be in the game for balance and diversity. I HAVE MADE NO REFERENCE TO REMOVING MANUAL DROPS AT ALL. I am asking for some kind of balance method between CV players as far as that may or may not be possible. I could not care less about CV's, any ship I have with reasonable AA capacity gets maxed out, ship and captain skills. That is how I counter CV these days. If I ever feel that CV's have ruined any chance of me having fun game play, I uninstall the game and do something else.
  20. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

I actually have not made any mention on nerfs or anything to CV's. I have made no mention on manual drops etc. I am suggesting a mechanism to prevent really low skill CV players trying to compete against good players and skewing the match as a result. For a fun game the CV players need to be balanced to each other too. You can carry other ship classes within a team, but not the CV. You are creating an argument in the thread over nerfing CV's when I have not mentioned anything about a nerf. You are either petrified your golden goose may get nerfed or just argumentative and rude.
  21. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

You are a polite chap aren't you. I made suggestions on preventing players with no clue playing CV's until they had developed some skills before playing randoms, and to stop them swinging the game balance and the team's chances of winning. I don't play CV's as I would be a total hindrance to the team in them and I don't want that. Cut the crap about me playing T4/T5 etc and all the stat snobbery. I guess you exclusively play Tier 10 to stay away from the common people and enjoy an exclusive club. If so, don't criticize other people who can only aspire to your skill.
  22. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

Yes 48% of my games are in Cruisers......definite seal clubber material in the most vulnerable class in the game. Oh as said before, the Murmansk, as recommended by lots of Pro youtubers is a credit grinder.
  23. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

BTW Kenliero,I have 56 battles at T10. Very minimal I know. I skip T9 and T10 generally as they are costly campy boring battles in general. Even tier 8 has become T9/T10 fodder. I play for my enjoyment, like most players on here. I actually play T6 to T8 these days (the last 6-9 months), after learning how to play in the lower tiers. And before you say the Murmansk is my most played ship, seal clubber etc, it has not been played much in the last six months and the reason I bought it originally is to grind credits to actually play/progress in the game. I don't give a stuff for stats and stat padding etc, it is about having fun and playing the ships I want to play. I play all classes and ships, good and bad. I cannot play CV's and I do appreciate good CV players. I won a Gremy in the Christmas present lottery, am I allowed to play that or does it make me a bad person?
  24. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

Yes I am talking about mid tier battles. If you are a new player experiencing this and the mid meta/match maker, the uninstall button must be tempting. By the way, I have seen many Tier 8 CV players who are abysmal too. I also think this game is superb, it just needs to adjustments to make it great, and more importantly, keep people coming back and attracting new players also.
  25. Gudgeon

    Another CV rant....

No, not the same. CV only counters CV for the majority of the battle, or until spotted. Other classes can be countered by each other from the first minute of the game. My point is that a skilled CV player against a novice means that the expert is unopposed and can have a very big say in the end result of the battle.
