From what has happened/announced to happen at some point in the future, I can only think that WG are actively trying to destroy their own game by driving some of the player base away. Words fail me at the decisions being made. There is is a long running trend of selling 'very good' premium ships (and tanks) compared to tech tree opponents, .........to make money. Who in their right mind buys a 'crap' premium? When the GC was given to the CC streamers (to advertise it to the player base), it is quite obvious that the CG was going to be sold in a 'strong' state. It was stated how strong that ship was prior to release by reviewers. Time to stop watching the community contributors, what is the point of viewing the upcoming ships if they are open to change (a tier change is quite drastic) in the future. I am not actually bothered about this ship as such, it is a point of principle and the overall precedent that is being made. 16 Months to decide the GC is OP? You need to have better testing and quality control, not move the goal posts 16 months later.
-
16 months to determine this ship is OP? Was it OK when the streamers were advertising it to us on their live streams and youtube channels at that time and laughing their heads off playing it, while 'testing'? Lets face it, half the time, the match maker nerf's all ships by placing them as bottom tier anyway. If any WG products need balancing, it is tanks. Any tier of ship can damage a ship two tiers higher than it. It is actually the one thing that sets warships apart from tanks. You just need some thought in what you are doing.
-
I'm only missing a fun game to play.
-
Not buying any more premium ships then. What is the point of buying something that may well get changed in the future because it was not fully tested and proven as fit for its purpose, not OP or under-powered compared to tech tree ships. How long has this ship been at its current tier and for sale? Doubloons......to spend on what? Premium time? Woo hoo. Test the ship and make sure it is fair and balanced in the first place before selling it. Simple. WG would have a big job on in tanks if they re-balanced tier 7 and 8 premiums in there that break the game. Wonder what is dropping tomorrow? What news gems tomorrow? This has been a crap month for warships.

CVs about to get nerfed to the ground (yay, rejoice all CV haters)
Gudgeon replied to valrond's topic in General Discussion
The player base is generally of an age and has higher patience levels, which come with age. Time will tell both on update improvements (these will be decided by the developer, regardless of the gigabytes of text all these CV forum posts are generating) and if the play base is still happy to put time into this 'game'. Lets see what the server numbers are in a month or so time. -
CVs about to get nerfed to the ground (yay, rejoice all CV haters)

Actually, the USSR DD's are not as bothered about the new spotting mechanic...they have bad concealment anyway which they don't rely on and are generally firing their guns in any case. IJN DD's need their concealment to position and torp attack and are therefore hit hardest with the new spotting mechanics. The Khabba just laughs at the spotting mechanic. Your argument is the wrong way around regarding air spotting. Plus 17% of your battles are in a DD so you are not really hit by the spotting mechanic either........ -

There has not been enough time/data sets to confirm that damage levels have dropped between iterations. People are still learning and improving. You need to allow for one week of practice, followed by 3-4 weeks of measurement before a snapshot can be taken, to determine the true case. As stated, it is the spotting mechanic that ruins the game for all other players on a CV's team. It is not fun. It is annoying. As are the blobby lemming train battles that normally result in 'chase the CV's, ignore the objectives' nonsense. All other ships become effectively weaker over the course of the battles due to losing HP, while CV's just get stronger and stronger towards the end of the battle. How about keep the 'F' button as it is and plane flights can only complete one attack before having to 'F' off back the CV? Basically, if this mess is not sorted logically and quickly, people with be hitting 'F' to leave the game. New players probably more so, as they will suffer the most under this broken mess. -
The WOT spotting mechanic with radio range and even a maximum spotting range (it is 445M in tanks for example , I think) seems to be the best idea. I still think the best option is to remove CV's altogether. The RTS style fits the game better than this new version, mainly due to the CV's countering themselves and a CV could prevent spotting of his teammates by airspace control.

As the tech tree exists at the moment, a tier 8 CV can face tier 6 to tier 10 ships. So the planes from a tier 8 CV have to be balanced to attack a tier 6 ship without nuking it instantly, but on the other hand have a strong enough attack to do meaningful damage/survive for at least one attack pass on a tier 10 ship and not make the player think he is wasting his time when they are bottom tier. Yes, seams like a simple balancing act there......or not. How will the broken spotting mechanic be fixed? We have 200 mph destroyers in the skies at the moment. CV's have broken the spotting mechanics of the game, that is the MAIN problem. There is no air-air interaction of CV's anymore. That is the key issue with CV's. The lack of balance between player skill v player skill in CV play will always become an issue, which is the official reason why the crapfest was initiated and implemented. It has solved nothing, but created even more problems. WG should bring back the RTS style and be done with it, if they insist that CV's must be in the game. The other option is just play BB's and tank damage. Forget getting shafted in DD's and cruisers due to being constantly spotted by air. This is touted as "The game about Battleships" after all.

Thanks Alelos, it is interesting to see what a good player can achieve. This got through testing? Who did they have as testers? Catch you guys again if/when they sort this crap out. I really want this game to get sorted and be back playing and having fun. Well Played btw Alelos, you must have be struggling to play through tears of laughter.

CVs and gaming enjoyment in WoWs: Polls

This is what happens when the play test of a whole new game mechanic is conducted in public with the player base. How was this ever going to work, regardless of if you are pro or anti CV? I'm sure that everything that is being said in public, was discussed in private between the developer and testers/Community Contributors during 'beta' testing of CV's. Just think, all this crap for a class that a maximum of 5% of the player base actually played with in any regularity, this time last week. To be honest, with 20-40 CV's in queue at tier 4 (yes, tier 3 players get the pleasure to be testers too), i wonder if this implementation will actually be considered a success due to increased CV player numbers.......This actually is my last post on this topic, or any other regarding this game. P.S will the player base get an Alabama ST (super test) for being testers? -

I have played for 3 years and share the same sentiments as you. This is my last forum post on this subject, or any others. The developers must have been given opinions on the result of implementing this game play change by the testers, Community Contributors and streamers. Still the implementation arrived. I have premium time, which means I pay to play. I do not pay to be a guinea pig game tester, getting annoyed in my leisure time. Watching Flamu and the like playing the RN CV's on stream just seems like a sick joke, when the game play for CV's needs sorting before adding another CV line. The developers sure as hell won't care about any post I make, so why should I care or bother about this game anymore. I will play just for sh1ts and giggles, as and when. -
In a word, NO. I wonder why three are allowed per battle? Do WG hope that the matchmaker will hide the fact that a team with at least one bad CV player, who could not even torp himself, will have at least one good CV player carrying him? I see no way back if CV's are left in the game. If they alter things for balance, other aspects of the game will become broken. They have dug a big hole with this update. The sad fact is, if this update was generated to balance CV's and help new players and ones no so good at the RTS style or the game in general, but they will be the exact players that will be driven away from playing.

CV's have broken spotting mechanic (100K+ is pretty easy). DD's and cruisers are perma spotted from air and focused. Broken as..... BB's spotted still leaving spawn by air within one minute of the battle starting. That is broken as.... Team play is static and blobs for a good proportion of battle time. Battles descend into one team chasing the other across the map (I think of it as a Benny Hill comedy sketch). CV dominate late battle due to the broken nature of the mechanics of the class now. Objectives appear to be irrelevant now as players are worried about being focused if pushing. Capping is hard now with air spotting and radar. CV's do not counter the enemy CV's planes now. Concealment skill is obsolete in most circumstances. Players with less game experience will be punished harder for mistakes than before. Players will camp more to try to stay safe. Constant plane re-spawning is OP as hell. And everything Goldshooter highlighted above. I hope you sort this out soon so we can be happy to play WOW's again.

Can I press '2' and have my torpedo's reload instantly on my DD please?
-
Can you please post a help thread for us guys (captain skills/module set-up/CV play), you seem to have the new update sorted and we could do with some hints and tips as our observations over the last few days seem to be flawed. I have played warships for three years also, playing to a similar standard as you, so I know what I have experienced.

Perhaps you should consider how annoyed a large percentage of the player base is before you talk about implementing submarines........how can they ever be balanced into the game. We just received this 'update' and you talk about adding subs..... -
His damage control is limited.......that is his point. Repeated air strikes every 30 seconds to one minute due to crazy re-spawn of planes, or the enemy team taking advantage once damage control is on cool down. Before you say "play as a team and support", well that ain't happened yet in three years. I think people would rather uninstall than decide to team up in this game. And former will probably happen. A CV can launch planes and spot a BB in spawn in less than one minute of game play. Is that balanced also? I bet there are no more spotting missions that can be played in a CV...100K of spotting damage in a CV is quick and easy to achieve with this version. Is that balance too?

How about instead of messing around with a ship class that maximum of 5% of the sever population played with any regularity, they just let it disappear? There might have been a reason that the CV class was so unpopular in the past. No, we bring in a broken play mode that annoys most players in one way or another. This afternoon, I have noticed a trend where the CV's are top on XP on both teams, most of the battles I have played at tier 8-10. Looks more and more like something is broken, as players become more adept at the skills needed. Had my first 'Stealth torp' Haku this afternoon.....something notser had mentioned on his stream. The torp planes carry out multiple drops coming at you and you don't see them until they are practically hitting you. Ranked battles have never been so appealing.
-
This rework has caused me to play a 'dd' that was in mothballs....the khabba. I mean, concealment means crap now with constant planes, and CV's cannot cross drop etc now, so the Khabba seems more viable. And I got on the enemy cv's at the end game. A Shim with 20KM torps might be the go too, if they blob up for protection in their base.
-
Pro's: None. Cons: Constant plane spawning. DD's/cruisers perma spotted by air. More than one a side is too much Tier 4, 6 and 8 CV's weak when up tiered. Tier 10 CV's appear to be OP against tier 8 and 9 enemies. CV's do not actually counter each other in this iteration. Teams now seem to camp more now for protection. DD's cannot really cap (esp at tiers 8, 9 and 10) due to radar and planes. Games are now quite boring. Pubs do not want to play the competitive borefest "kings of the sea" type battle, every battle. You might as well get rid of the domination mode and just run standard battles due to the perma spotting caused by multiple CVs per side. I bet epicentre is a barrel of laughs with 3 CV's a side.
-
Seriously? The unicum CV players of old will be great players with the new iteration (which I have no problem with, It is not their fault they are good), and the crap players will still be crap. Why? Because the Unicums know how to spot, dot damage and send the enemy into destruction by forcing damage control and then following up with more fires and floods, either by themselves or a by teammates. The constant attacks means no respite for ships on the receiving end. So actually, I think CV's are as powerful (or more so) overall the entire length of the battle than they ever were, but in a different style of play. The spotting potential has gone exponential now. That gets ships killed quickly. The only question is, will this style of play keep the good players interested, or will they become bored.

I don't play WT, I noted an observation from someone who has tried it. But still, I'm sure balance can be reached in WOW's and the game becomes better for it. 2019, year of the CV.

A possible solution to make CVs more welcome in the game
Gudgeon replied to FukushuNL's topic in General Discussion
DD's were not screwed with the old system......the CV's also had to watch out for enemy fighters, and keep his planes alive. Now they are just constant plane spawning, damage farmers who actually do not counter the enemy CV's. They CV player workload is now very different and the enemy CV is not his problem anymore. We have gone from one extreme to another regarding CV v CV play. -
Looks balanced and fun to me......CV's completely dominate the end game and overall, the fun factor is around zero. Having to [edited] about sailing your boat, aiming and firing the guns/torps, watching for the CONSTANT re-spawning of planes and that ridiculous AA circle of RNG via another key bind plus taking 6K rocket volleys from CV's.....yes fun times. All a CV needs to do to win is be the spotter of his team (the DD's will either already be sunk or hiding from planes somewhere) and then farm damage. Oh and radar is the icing on this particular flavour of cake. I bet people will be rushing to install this game. A naval game that does not implement CV's......I wonder why......
