    CV Rework Discussion

This CV rework has been around for the best part of a year now. What is actually going to change with the class going forward? Nothing. No point talking about this game improving class anymore, everything has already been said that needs to be said and those observations appear to have fallen on deaf ears. It is time to prepare the "Implementation of Submarines discussion" thread that will be needed soon.
  2. Probably something to do with over armored battleships of certain nations and the bow in mentality of BB's and some cruisers, moving back and forth that makes this game literally tanks on water...... It is all to do with the direction this game has headed since RN BB's. I can remember when BB's only fired AP as a rule, very rarely HE. I'm afraid it is in now the norm to bombard BB's with HE to overload the damage repair parties, especially as there are Smolensk's in every tier 10 battle, for example. The game is also an exercise in damage farming (by HE), as big numbers apparently mean that you are a good player (not my opinion). There is a HE epidemic in this game now. Along with CV's and the arrival of subs, it is fun times.

How is everyone getting on with Puerto Rico grind?

good thanks and might complete six stages before the end . Had a nice holiday.
  4. You are kidding me? You can play a CV against a 'normal' surface ship? And this was tested on the PTS and still arrived with this configuration. Ah it is an early April fools joke, like CV's in general.

    The Truth About Ranked

If you are in a CV, try spotting the DD out of the game?

    The Truth About Ranked

Ranked is only a test of patience. Be it a super unicum taking 20 games longer to rank out that his usual average number of games, or a player taking 500+ battles to rank out. You do end up on win streaks. On the two times I have ranked out, the second time, I spent 100+ battles stuck between rank 10-5 and nearly gave up, then suddenly, as if by magic I am on a win/progression streak, where whatever I do, I am on a winning team, or coming top in a loss. It always feels strange, after what went on before. It is almost like you are in the favorable half of the MM algorithm. My tip, don't bother with ranked, it mainly consists of individuals who just drag the rest of the team down and you are powerless to hold back the tide. Too much of a time sink and not fun.

    Suggestions thread

It might have something to do with the CV spotting mechanic being fundamentally broken? Consider this, you are a DD that is actually going to try and play for an objective at the start of the battle. The CV has a one in three chance of spotting a DD in the first minute of the battle just buy flying his planes to one of three caps.....and then the DD player is in for a fun game. If nothing else, a CV can perma spot a DD for as long as it takes a CV to kill the DD, or the rest of the team shooting at spotted DD. This makes the game very poor. CV planes are too fast in flight speed. CV planes respawn too quickly. There should be a hanger size limit on the number of planes available. I would personally remove CV's from the game. More people might consider spending money on the game, if it is fun for more that 5% of the player base. But this has all been said before, CV's breaking the game has been said at least 100 000 times and it is getting boring. But the CV mains will defend the class until the end of time. Still it is a free to play game, so I cannot complain too much, just give it as much time as the game deserves........

Lost the will to play the game

The whole weekend warrior thing is a total fallacy. Battles at any time of the week have the potential to be dire. It all depends on which pot the match maker puts you in.

Is playing Smolensk boring or fun?

You should ask, is playing against smolensk boring? Yes, because everyone is afraid of being torched from end to end. Nearly as bad as CV's for ruining the game. Another cause of the camp fest's around the map edges.

    Which BB to go for?

RU BB's. Tier 6 and above. Done. If you don't show your side and fight at 12KM or less, god tier.

Lost the will to play the game

Anything that is perceived as desirable is locked behind a pay/playwall. I am an average player and will never get a P2W steel ship unless I find a clan that is hardcore clan battle participant and I also blow my brains out playing ranked (I have ranked out twice, but just cannot tolerate the mode anymore). All this actually motivates me NOT to play. What is the point? I used to enjoy randoms for a couple of hours in a session, but even randoms are frustrating at any tier. Crappy game mechanics and players with less skill than co-op bots. Even the Christmas modes do not encourage anything but a mega grind. Or play 200 co-op battles to guarantee getting all my snowflakes by the middle of January on the ships in my dock. What an incentive.
  12. Yes, it is the worst year by far. But 2015 to mid 2018 was very good. The core game is still good. The recent overall game implementation/mechanics changes have caused the game experience to be horrific since the last holiday grind for the Prinz, a year ago. Probably played 500 randoms this year out of 13K battles overall. Skipped the Benham grind and certainly skipping the 'Rich Port' grind.....what an apt translation from Spanish......

Will you be acquiring Gorizia this event?

No. I have the tech tree ship for free. I game for fun, enjoyment and a sense of achievement.
  14. This tier of ship could have been made a reward ship aka like the mission reward tanks in WOT. The main difference being that the eight campaigns in WOT that can gift a reward tank are not time limited. They are probably player skill limited and some of the missions cause the player base to play in a way that is detrimental to their team (ram a tank, seven times over any number of battles etc), but importantly they are not time limited. If you just play the game, not hardcore it, an average player can probably pick up some of the tanks over a year or two of casual playing. Granted, the tier 9 reward tank is pretty difficult for an average player to get. BUT THE MISSIONS ARE NOT TIME LIMITED AND MAY ATTRACT THE PLAYER BASE TO PLAY THE GAME FOR AN EXTENDED TIME (LIKE 3-6 MONTHS).
  15. I get that a tier 10 ship needs to be locked behind a big pay/play wall, but anyone trying to do this will be burnt out by the end.
  16. I think it comes to something when the grind mechanics are more complicated and unclear than the game itself. A shame really, but we all have a choice whether we participate or not. I am probably going to be working over the holiday, so I'll have to miss out.....in any case, that will limit my time and I am certainly not interested in blowing my brains out with the frustration fest this game has become. My free time will be more precious over the holiday period and I will be looking for stress free fun instead of working to targets, which is like having another job.

Are you happy with current Ranked System?

Well, this is an example of why competent participants of ranked seasons are a prisoner of the ranked system. You can only do so much in a team, you ARE dependent on having four or five competent team mates to offset the disadvantage of other team members, that cannot contribute to the team for various "reasons". Somehow, such players have reached tier 10 and afford the in game ship running costs too, for playing so badly. Very sad state for the game.

Are you happy with current Ranked System?

The truth of the matter for me, is, ranked used to be a frustration, and randoms much less so and a release from the frustration of ranked. I have ranked out twice, in around 150-200 battles each time. For the past year, I have found randoms to be no less frustrating than ranked. I think that says something about the game, in my opinion. I am a four year player with 13K battles. This season, I have now decided to give up. Too many smolensk, Stalingrads and CV's. This is combined with a large number of tier 10 captains with little common sense. I have decided to take a break from the game and find something more fun to do. I have seen good and bad times in this game. It was amazing in its heyday which was 2016 to mid/late 2018.
  19. Yes, I did the grind for the Prinz Eitel and that was not particularly fun, especially at holiday time last year, when you should be doing activities that are fun. It was not that difficult as it was a tier 6 ship, but still a grind. At that time I vowed to never grind again, and sure enough I have not. Thanks for the chance, but I am looking for gaming fun, nothing more. The Benham grind instantly reinforced my attitude towards grind/wallet opening. You really should be trying to attract players into the game to have FUN. People having fun spend money too.

I think CV's are usually the last down.........no counter you see.

    CV Rework Discussion

Yes, in the rare event I play tier 4, it never ceases to amaze me that every game is a SIX cv battle. Why would any new player WANT to continue playing? If I was starting now, I would quit pretty quickly. It is not fun and basically the game environment created by CV's prevents you from learning and improving your game as all elements of ambush/surprise are eliminated by the presence of planes at the low/mid tiers. I would like to ask the CV mains, what do they get out of playing CV's exactly? I cannot see it myself. Why do none of the CC's play CV's on their streams? Why do CC's appear to have a dislike of CV's? I have been back playing this game for around two months now, after a nine month low activity rate (I have played since 2015), and after the weekend I have had my fill for the time being. I mainly play DD's and but I'm afraid I have got tired of the current meta of every game is a CV game, at all tiers. I don't think that the 'Rico' grind mission at Christmas is going to attract me back either. Or winning 50 speed flags from tier 10 super containers. Oh and there is ranked.......now populated by CV's...........

    CV Rework Discussion

Hi Wargaming, could you please check your CV balance spreadsheet, as I am having trouble with losing a lot of health via repeated rocket attacks from CV's, when playing DD's. It is getting a little tiresome now. Perhaps I should stop playing the objective and camp with the AA ships, when in a dd? If the rockets don't get you, being spotted by air will. This is all obviously dependent upon having an enemy with a brain, or a keyboard smasher playing the enemy CV. If the latter is in control, then the battle is generally really good and just like the old days, when a good number of battles were cv free and fun for everyone. My opinion is that there is a small imbalance, but perhaps I am just unlucky. Thanks, A reasonably unsatisfied warships player.

DD roles vs actual incentive todo those roles

To get good XP in a DD, you need to take a good percentage (50% +) of one or more ships hit points. Preferably a higher tier ship. Hitting various ships for a small number of hit points each does not get you much. I am currently re-playing the Minsk. Here is a battle I had last night.... I did around 16K damage. I jointly capped once. I got the XP because I played the role of a gun boat DD and hit the Udaloi and sank the Yugumo for more that half his HP basically. I then tried to spot the cruisers for the rest of the team to shoot. The team won because we got rid of their DD's, spotted the cruisers and held three out of four caps. GG. This game is not just about high damage numbers (although the Musashi probably had a good damage game).

I need help with cruiser playstyle...please

Make sure you have at least a 10 point captain, for max concealment. The cruiser players you are up against will have this and more and out spot you potentially. Some of the ships that give you the impression you are struggling are now very weak in the match making/newer classes introduced after them. Pick a couple of cruiser lines and focus on them. You have a Belfast, use it, it is one of the best T7 cruisers. Get a Fiji. Also very good for its tier. You have a Kutusov, again use it and train a good RU cruiser captain and play the line. IJN cruisers are good, but really need a good cruiser play style to survive.

    CV Rework Discussion

This thread is for people to express a dislike of a certain class that is breaking the chance of interesting play for all other classes. Please can you tell me why CV's have not been present in the 'Kings of the Sea tournament' this year? There must be a reason...... really struggling to work why.......
