There is an option on Coop, but it is not nice. Use a DD with smoke. Lay a smoke wall in front of your team that they cannot see the enemy. Then spot. Make sure that you do not get sunk or your teammates might not be amused.

Doubtful. As I wrote, some people were complaining about the range increase. I played most of my Atlanta games without AFT. And not everyone played her with a 10+ point captain.
