Just fix the damn landing procedure.

Yup, nice contest.

There was no use for those ships in North Sea, just inactivity and degradation of morale. While Albion wasn't anything too spectacular, it was best use Germans could get from their surface fleet at that point.

Something is seriously broken with AP shells hitting cruisers
olmedreca replied to _DQ_'s topic in General Discussion
BB AP against cruisers is weird now. With my Nagato I score citadel hits that I totally didn't expect, while at same time in situations where I previously could delete them with 1 salvo I get no citadel hits. -
FREE Captain Reskill for major Skill Changes
olmedreca replied to Cronos's topic in General Discussion
Yes, at least for all captains that have reached the level of reworked skill. -
Enough is enough, I'm abandoning carriers. Why bother?
olmedreca replied to WhiskeyWolf's topic in General Discussion
I am willing to adapt to normal nerfs like slower torpedoes etc. But I don't think I should need to adapt to clunky mess that landing mechanism has become. I can manage if I really want, but it is quite frustrating, so I simply prefer something more straightforward like taking my Cleveland and burning some stuff. -
While I did not see anything about plane landing changes in patch notes, there clearly have been changes and none of them seem good. 1. It is clear that plane landing procedure has changed, making it slower. This is especially noticeable with high tier Japanese carriers that have more squadrons, as their plane cycling is now significantly slower than before. 2. Previously green blinking arrow indicated that squadron landing is "confirmed". This meant that you could safely give ready squadrons their takeoff orders without worrying that you interrupt landing, as blinking squadrons would always complete their landing first. This is no longer the case, now sometimes ordering takeoff while a landing squadron is blinking interrupts landing, sometimes it does not. 3. Previously then you gave takeoff orders to squadrons that were preparing, a tiny green arrow would appear in squadron box, making it easier to keep track which squadrons had received their takeoff order. This does not work anymore. I would suggest to revert any changes to plane landing procedure because patch caused numerous issues without any visible improvements.

As a Shokaku player with 6 squadrons to manage I am mostly annoyed by messed up plane landing process (not mentioned in patch notes). Especially as old one worked relatively smoothly and was reasonably intuitive. So yeah, playing mostly cruisers at the moment. -
Please revert carrier landing procedure to 0.5.0.3
olmedreca replied to olmedreca's topic in General Discussion
Can we get some WG comment on this please? I realize that that it affects far less players then whole APgate, and is not immediately obvious if you aren't paying close attention, but nevertheless it is a significant change to high tier CVs that was not mentioned in patch notes at all. -
Eventually everyone will have hammer and sickle flags, as that has been proven immune to historical issues.
-
Can confirm, clearly noticeable it with my Shokaku.

Upcoming tech trees: England, France, China, Italy ...
olmedreca replied to Trigger_Happy_Dad's topic in General Discussion
For China they should just add few premiums. An actual tree would be an embarrassing mess. -
Obviously this is the great master plan to make everyone shut up about Russian "paper ships" by adding even more fictional Chinese navy.

I have always suspected that all air-superiority Bogue players are normally BB players that have come to take revenge on CVs. Other than that I have hard time seeing why anyone would choose that loadout.
-
There is quite significant speed difference between Japanese and US BBs in early levels, you probably should take a look at that. Also BBs alone tend to have hard time against DDs.

To WG: Is there anything being done about the essex/midway?
olmedreca replied to fenrirspup's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Damage comparisons also need to include number of planes shot down. 2 fighter Bogue seems pretty popular and it pretty clearly is not designed to do much ship damage. -
Izumo always felt like a weird choice as that spot could have been easily filled with more historical Kii or Number 13.

Ideas for 'Minor Powers' Tech Tree.
olmedreca replied to ApesTogetherStronK's topic in General Discussion
Well, that is sort of cop out argument. Why even bother assigning them to tiers if it doesn't matter at all? That said, if you have specific reason why you put Tegethoff at III even though its broadside equal to Wyoming, or Almirante Latorre at IV while its broadside is equal to New York, then it would be interesting to hear. -

Battleship tier suggestions seem weird for me, some seem far too strong for their tier and others far too weak. I would have suggested something like that: 2. Sverige / Radetzky3. Australia / Minas Geraes4. Tegetthoff / Rivadavia5. Ersatz Monarch / Almirante Latorre6. Riachuelo? 7. Spanish Littorio? Btw, I doubt that there will be actual minor nations tree, more likely there will be just lots of individual premium ships. -
I would note that then I have played CV I never feel that draws are serious problem, as this ship has excellent tools to deal with most annoying draw situations in most cases. On other hand with BB I have felt that my ship's limitations (vision and mobility) sometimes force unfair draws on me.
-
I don't understand what is so arbitraty about it compared to current system. Also "negative play to avoid death" already exists, and tends to result draws...
-
I am pretty sure that draw rate depends of ship. CV is inherently best for scouting and killing that last enemy ship on wrong side of map, and DD is best for reaching cap asap. BB is worst ship to have if you need to cap fast or find last enemy unless there is someone to do scouting for you. Imo draw is ok if both sides have same amount of ships left but if one side has more then they should win.
-
This or something similar using forced autopilot would be best solution to border sliding issue (planes at border would require some extra fixing).
-
Japanese carriers are very badly suited for providing proper air cover, on other hand they are excellent then going full offensive. It's all about maximizing potential of the ship.
-
Stock Myogi, Kongo and Fuso. Pagoda superstructure is a must have. Ryujo and Langley compete for ugliest carrier. Cruisers are all relatively ok in my opinion.
